Polish Pickup December 2022 | Maker’s Choice

Happy Sunday! This was a whirlwind couple of weeks… but I finally have my post ready to start for Polish Pickup December 2022… and the theme is Maker’s Choice!
I saw a couple people asking “Why Maker’s Choice again??” and really – December is always a little different than other months due to holidays, shops doing their own Black Friday sales and the hustle and bustle of activity and such. Every year PPU changes it up to try to make it easier on the makers. One year everything was capped so makers could do their thing and ship way ahead of time and PPU could start shipping asap. That was a bit of a headache since a lot of people missed out and things sold out FAST. Overall though – PPU is just trying to find the right balance for PPU, makers and customers.
This month is also lighter on non polish offerings. This is a smaller month so that PPU staff isn’t stuck shipping through the holidays (since that’s when shipping takes place) so I won’t have the normal 8-10 non polish items to share.

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Sweet & Sour Lacquer and Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.
Due to Black Friday posts and some fun family drama that led to us hosting Thanksgiving with little notice (it was actually fun to host for the first time… after 13 years together – Nick and I hosted for his family) but I had to cut out matte photos this month. I never would have finished on time if I kept those in. They will be back next month though!
My lighting set up was changed. The new lamps give a much truer to color photo with less Photoshop manipulation. So now, since I use artificial lighting due to my day job, my new set up involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).

Alchemy Lacquers | Mimas (Magnetic)
Inspiration: Coordinating with a collection re-releasing in December called Moon Shards, which features chameleon chrome flakes in a shifty base. Mimas is one of the moons of Saturn and is named after the son of Gaia.
Description: Mimas is a purple to magenta to pink shifting multichrome base with jade green to purple to pink to gold ultra-chameleon chrome flakes, a jade green to turquoise to cyan to blue magnetic shimmer, and a touch of holo flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
I only magnetized the center fingers so you can see it both ways.

Baroness X | Acetone Additive in Peppermint Shortbread Cookies
Inspiration: Holiday Cookies
Description: Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protect your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin! Simply shake up the vial and pour into your polish remover. I generally pour a full vial into a 10 oz pump bottle, but I recommend shaking it and pouring half in and adding more if you feel you need more.
This month is scented like Peppermint Shortbread Cookies… and it smells just like it sounds. Shortbread and peppermint and … it’s amazing.

Inspiration: BKL is going to take inspiration from Gilded by Marissa Meyer with the Erlking, a companion polish to November’s Perchta

This might stain and it did lightly stain my gel nails for the short period I had it on.

Glisten & Glow | Glitter Grabber
Inspiration:
Description: Glitter Grabber gets applied after any glitter or flakie dense manicure is done and it’s fully dry and before your top coat. It aids in creating a smoother surface for your top coat or matte top coat all while “grabbing” that extra texture.
It works by filling in all the nooks and crannies without “sinking” in like top coat usually does.
Apply a coat of this and then top coat over it for a smooth finish.

Blueberry Muffin smells good enough to EAT! I won’t, but I have never wanted to lick a sugar scrub more. It smells exactly like fresh baked blueberry muffins with a bit of sugar sprinkled on top.

This dries VERY textured so you will need 2 coats of thick top coat or glitter smoothing topper and top coat combo. I found for application, quick, small strokes of the brush worked best to manipulate and distribute flakes evenly.

I’m going to have to have The Sound of Her Wings (how can I not, with a Sandman-inspired polish?!) and Pixie Glass (because I have & adore Dragon Glass), along with Lookin’ Mighty Pine and Mastermind. I’ve gotta make some cuts and I have no idea where to do that because they’re all so amazing!
