Polish Pickup March 2024 | Slumber Party

Things are still trickling in… but I have the majority of items arriving for the month – so it’s time to share all the goodies I received to share for the Polish Pickup March 2024 shop… and the theme this month is Slumber Party!
As of right now I have 46 items for the month – but I am still expecting By Dany Vianna, Indie by Patty Lopes, Penelope Luz and I believe Envy Lacquer. One those arrive I will add them into the post.
As usual, you can check it all out on my YouTube channel – I swatch each polish, show their special effect (if any) and sort of demo each product so you can see the consistency or how it is used.
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did Monarch Lacquer Hi-Def Shine Top coat (sent as PR and I’ve also purchased). For all textured polishes, I did use Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (PR) and Monarch Lacquer top coat over it. For matte photos I used Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sea Glass (Gifted and Purchased by me)
For my lighting set up I use artificial lighting due to my day job, my set up involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
For my nails – they are Apres Gel X nails throughout this post, and the style is Extra Short Stiletto. For the glow in the dark polishes, as well as the solar (in video) I used a UV flashlight (affiliate link) to charge for the glow/change in polish.

Inspiration: Alchemy Lacquers is teaming up with Jen & Berries to bring you the classic slumber party levitation trick, “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board”. The Alchemy half was inspired from a Reddit post featuring a dark gray kitty doing its best impression of a board!

Inspiration: Inspired by Skyrim’s famous opening lines
Description: You’re Finally Awake is a stormy grey jelly base with strong blue shimmer with a subtle purple shift at extreme angles. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
If you have strong VNL – it will likely show through a bit, as this shade is on the sheerer side but builds up a bit, but depends on shimmer to give the illusion of opacity.

Inspiration: Inspired by The Saved by the Bell episode Fatal Distraction, where Zack and Screech bug the girls’ sleepover to find out who Kelly plans to ask to the dance.
Description: We’ve Been Bugged! is a mauve-ish taupe base with magnetic pigment that shifts pink to gold to copper, full of pink to orange to gold and blue to purple shifty micro flakes, silver holo micro flakes, and a touch of scattered holo sparkle. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
This has a more subtle magnetic effect on the nail. I only magnetized the middle and ring nails for these photos so you can see it both magnetized and unmagnetized.

Inspiration: Inspired by the secrets we shared with our friends at those sleepover parties.
Description: Sweet Secrets is a blue (cold) to cool toned pink (warm) crelly based thermal with pink to orange iridescent flakes, as well as a variety of silver holo glitters mixed in. I used 3 thin coats, a glitter smoother and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
The base of this polish is on the sheerer side to let the holo glitters shine through – but it builds up nicely.

Inspiration: Inspired by Late night Rock Band parties

In person – the shimmer takes over the polish a little more. My lighting is making the jelly base appear more dominant. In 3 coats though – the shifty shimmer does take over a bit (the video shows it better)

DRK NAILS | SLUMBER 10X0 PARTY
Inspiration: I’m at a phase of my life where I prefer to rest/slumber instead of partying 😁. So I decided to not pick any particular inspo and just create a polish that shows my personal preference: very bright and colorful.
Description: Slumber 10×0 Party is a blue jelly based medium sized particle multichrome that shifts from teal to blue to purple to magenta to copper and to gold at extreme angles. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The particle size gives it a slightly more foil like appearance

GLISTEN & GLOW | PREP + DRY
Inspiration:
Description: Prep + Dry is actually something I used for my Gel X Nails. Basically on your natural nail plate – apply a thin coat and it helps dehydrate the nail plate, corrects the nail plate pH balance and preps the keratin surgace for adhesion of base coats and nail polish (and in my case, the “glue” I use to attach my gel nails) This also allows the nail to be free and clear of any residue and oils that can cause base coats and/or nail polish to lift or chip.
How to use: wash hands and nails with soap and water, dry hands and nails. Apply to the nail with the provided brush. Allow to dry for 30-60 seconds. Repeat this step of you have nails that are prone to lifting or are you oily nail plate. Now, apply base coat or nail polish to the nail. (The brush will spray out and separate into sections, this is totally normal.)

Inspiration: In the Late 80’s and 90’s I attended and hosted (well, my parents did) tons of slumbers parties! We would have so much fun talking and gossiping about our secret crushes! We would even call the radio station and request songs for them!
Description: Glisten & Glow Shhh… Secret Crushes is a vibrant teal jelly base that leans heavier into the green side of teal, and is loaded with large particle red to pink to orange to gold to green shifting shimmer, as well as holo micro flakes. Inspiration: Inspired by Making friendship bracelets at slumber parties
Description: Making Friendship Bracelets is described as a teal (cold) to pale teal (warm) crelly based scattered holo thermal with additional team metallic flakes and shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
To my eyes this leans more into a dusty turquoise color than teal. The thermal shift is on the subtle side

JIOR COUTURE | GLAZE ME UP
Inspiration: Inspired by Bubblegum treats at slumber parties
Description: Glaze Me Up Moisturizing Skin Icing is a sort of balm that isn’t super stiff like some balms can be. This has a very easy to use, slightly softer balm texture. This is for any dry areas like cuticles, elbows and other rough patches you might have.
A little goes a long way, just apply a thin layer and massage it in. The jar is 6oz, so it should last me a good while. I did use it on my heels on night and popped on a pair of cotton socks after and my heels felt so soft the next morning!
Glaze Me Up is scented in Bubble Gum – and to my nose – it reminds me of those Lip Smackers Bubble Gum Lip Balms exactly. That 90’s era bubble gum scent was a big throw back for me as soon as I opened the container!

Kathleen & Co | I Want My MTV
Inspiration: Inspired by Graphic of the MTV logo
Description: I Want My MTV is a peach(indoors) solar that shifts to a deep blurple in the sun, with pink to gold shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
You can also use any UV light for the shift as I did in my video – but for photos I used sunlight to get the shift. It does change back to peach fairly quick once out of sunlight, so I used a mix of sunlight and my studio lights to capture this solar.

KBSHIMMER | SUGAR SCRUB IN CHOCOLATE SCENT (PAID PR)
Inspiration: Inspired by Birthday Cakes and Chocolate Treats
Description: KBShimmer’s sugar scrubs are good for all over the body or as a hand scrub, the sugar particles are medium grit so they do a good job getting dry spots on your body situated.
Those nights filled with chocolatey treats inspired this Chocolate Hand & Body Scrub. Deep and rich notes of cocoa blend with smooth milk chocolate and vanilla-like white chocolate notes for a scrub that smells good enough to eat!
My nose isn’t fully keen on chocolate scents and they usually smell like Tootsie Rolls to me, which is one of my least favorite candies (but I adore chocolate.. nom nom nom) so this does smell like Tootsie Rolls for me. I’ll still use it cause KBShimmer Sugar Scrubs are phenomenal – but it’s not one of my fav scents.

Inspiration: Inspired by One of my favorite things to play with at sleep overs was my Tamagotchis with friends! My first one was a purple galaxy Gen 1 and this polish was inspired by that. The name of the polish is Toma Mimi (Take a nap) in spanish!

PARADOX POLISH | TUCKING MYSELF IN
Inspiration: Bianca Del Rio from Rupaul’s Drag Race. Bianca Del Rio is my FAVORITE comedian. I’ve been to her live show in SF and it really made me laugh so freaking hard. Bianca is coming back to the Bay again this May. I’ll be tucking myself in at the end of the night happy after watching this show.

RED EYED LACQUER | DA BALM-ER IN MORNING AFTER BREAKFAST (PAID PR)
Inspiration: Inspired by Yummy breakfasts after a sleepover.
Description: Da Balm-er is a cross between a balm and body butter. It’s creamy like a body butter but has a more emollient feel like a balm would. It’s an intensive treatment you can use anywhere (I love it on cuticles of course) but a little goes a long way. If you use too much – it will feel very oily (like a balm would) so start with a little and build up if you need more.

My nose immediately picks up the strawberry and a little vanilla, the cotton candy notes are very very light so the lotion isn’t cloyingly sweet.

Another fun, original theme! I expected the amount of pinks and purples and more.. 90’s like inspo. Very nostalgic for me since I was born in 82 – so a lot of childhood sleepovers were in late 80’s through the 90s (I graduated class of 2000)

I am enchanted by Kathleen & Co ‘I Want My MTV.” I’ve never tried a Solar effect and the peach is a lovely color on it’s own.
I love the deep blue/black of Paradox Tucking Myself In, and the Kathleen orange/purple solar.

I’m super excited for BKL’s You’re Finally Awake; I’m a suckered for anything skyrim themed and love the brand. Monarch’s Truth or Dare is also awesome, it looks like so much fun and I think it fits the theme super well.

Sooo much I’m impressed with this month! Swamp Gloss’ Snick Snack is top of my list, and I’m absolutely loving Noodles’ Parent Trapped and Paradox’s Tucking Myself In. I expect I’ll also pick up the Baroness X Fluid art, the Off the Hook toy, and the Unicorn Magic Lotion.
Second pick is all mixed up. The teal to green to blue is seriously perfect!
