Polish Pickup April 2024 | Video Games

March was a long month – but it already feels like April’s PPU shop rolled around super quick! This month we’re looking at the Polish Pickup April 2024 shop and the theme is Video Games!
I believe I have everything and there’s no stragglers this time. I did have a package go missing though and I have no idea which maker it was to let them know. I exhausted the hunt with all Florida makers I work with (it was shipped from Satellite Beach, FL) and USPS here delivered it to a Parcel Locker… which I don’t have. I talked to USPS and they have a search out for it – but it’s been a week and still nothing.
I feel really bad – but hopefully the maker will reach out.
So onward.. I have 56 items this month I’ll be sharing. As usual, you can check out all 56 polishes and items on my YouTube channel – I swatch each polish, show their special effect (if any) and sort of demo each product so you can see the consistency or how it is used.
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did Monarch Lacquer Hi-Def Shine Top coat (sent as PR and I’ve also purchased). For all textured polishes, I did use Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (PR) and Monarch Lacquer top coat over it. For matte photos I used Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sea Glass (Gifted and Purchased by me)
For my lighting set up I use artificial lighting due to my day job, my set up involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
For my nails – they are Apres Gel X nails throughout this post, and the style is Extra Short Stiletto. For the glow in the dark polishes, I used a UV flashlight (affiliate link) to charge for the glow/change in polish. Since I do my photos and videos at night – I don’t have the sun to help charge the polish.

Inspiration: Inspired by when my husband and I adopted our almost twin brother furbabies 12 years ago, we each picked a name for them. While my husband chose Bowzer for one, I chose Rex for the other. Rex was named after one of my favorite characters from and one of my favorite video game series, Mass Effect. Shepard was Inspired by the cover art of Mass Effect 2 and Urdnot Wrex!

Inspiration: Inspired by Kingdom Hearts Video Game
Description: Darkness Is Half of Everything is a deep gunmetal grey base loaded with scattered holographic glitters and an intense teal shift. I used 2 coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
The teal shift is more apparent in my photos due to the lighting. In person you will see more of the deep gunmetal head on and the teal is at more of an angle. For example… on the photo below – the ring finger and pinky are more accurate to the amount of gunmetal to teal ration you will typically see head on.

BCB LACQUERS | DAZZLEFRUIT 6ml CUTICLE OIL CLICK PEN

Description: BCB Lacquers has the jumbo oil pen for us, which is a 6ml (standard is usually about 3ml I believe?) and it’s a click bottom pen (vs twisty) and this month’s scent has notes of Acai Berries, cherry, plum, violet, woods, greens and fresh cut grass.
To my nose this has a very clean berry scent but also has those woodsy notes to smooth it out and give it a bit of extra oomph. This isn’t a super sweet or sugary scent – it’s mellow, refreshing and a little tart from the berries.

Inspiration: Inspired by the cover art of the video game Burnout Revenge. When this version of Burnout was released I discovered you could choose the songs that play on the radio in the car while racing. My favorite song on the game was Fall Out Boys “Dance, Dance”. One night while playing with my cousins I decided to mess with them and choose only that song to play. We still talk about the song and game almost 20 years later.
Description: Dance, Dance is a bright red jelly base packed with black flakes, red to orange to green crystal/ghost and ultrachrome chameleon flakes. I used 3 thin coats, glitter smoother and glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
Due to the flake load in this shade, it does apply feeling a little thicker but it was still easy to distribute. I prefer a short brush stroke method to also evenly distribute flakes for this style of polish as well.

For April – the scent is Hot Pink Lime and this is described as a juicy lime mixed with grapefruit, tangerine and lemon with notes of bergamot and brown sugar and oakmoss.
To my nose this is a very light scent but I do get a hint of citrus from it and a bit of warmer scent I’m assuming is the brown sugar and bergamot. It’s a nice scent if you aren’t big on stronger scents and like the more refreshing type. But it is a barely there type scent for me.
