Polish Pickup February 2024 | Wild Animals

We have another fairly fresh theme for Polish Pickup – and for February 2024 we have the theme of Wild Animals!
For this month so far I have 53 items to share. I think there might be one more on the way… but I’m not 100% sure. I believe I am waiting on Phoenix Indie though.
As usual, you can check it all out on my YouTube channel – I swatch each polish, show their special effect (if any) and sort of demo each product so you can see the consistency or how it is used.
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did Monarch Lacquer Hi-Def Shine Top coat (sent as PR and I’ve also purchased). For all textured polishes, I did use Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (PR) and Monarch Lacquer top coat over it. For matte photos I used Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sea Glass (Gifted and Purchased by me)
For my lighting set up I use artificial lighting due to my day job, my set up involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
For my nails – they are Apres Gel X nails throughout this post, and the style is Extra Short Stiletto.

Description: Hot Dog is a deep, smokey purple creme base loaded with matte purple to red shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
Matte shimmer (according to the supplier) is a finer milled shimmer that is such a size it doesn’t “shimmer” as much as typical shimmer. It almost gives a more pearlized look to it without being a pearl finish (if that makes sense?)

This shade is on the sheerer side, so if you want to avoid VNL, you may want to use a blurring base or a blue creme base.
The large dot glitters are heavier and sink – so you will want to sit it upside down for a few minutes before painting – or just fish around for them to place.

Inspiration:
Description: Glitter Grabber gets applied after any glitter or flakie dense manicure is done and it’s fully dry and before your top coat. It aids in creating a smoother surface for your top coat or matte top coat all while “grabbing” that extra texture.
It works by filling in all the nooks and crannies without “sinking” in like top coat usually does.
Apply a coat of this and then top coat over it for a smooth finish.

JEN & BERRIES | WILD AT HEART
Inspiration: Inspired by the memory of our dog, Brenna. While Brenna was an inside dog, she had a wild side and rocked a mohawk down her back to prove it! Not always content to roam in our back yard where lying in the sun was her favorite spot, she could be an escape artist who preferred to run off exploring farms in the distance, coming home hours later smelling distinctly un-ladylike having visited the cows and horses nearby. She once gave a chicken the fright of its life when she caught it and proceeded to parade around the yard with it in her mouth. Luckily, “drop it” was a command she learned early so the chicken was released unharmed! While she very much enjoyed cuddles and loved the comforts of home, such as regular feedings and licking the ice cream bowl, our girl was definitely wild at heart. Sadly, she crossed the rainbow bridge just before Thanksgiving so this polish is in honor of her and the joy she gave us for so many years.

KBSHIMMER | RESTORATION DROPS (PREVIOUSLY PAID PR)

Description: Restoration Drops is just one of those things that polish lovers should have on standby. Polishes can have evaporation, making them thicker over time, or some ingredients just naturally make the polish thicker. Restoration Drops help thin out polish and bring the polishes either back to life (if evaporated) or bring it to a consistency you prefer.
I use these the most with top coats! Ever notice they get thicker and stringy around the halfway point? Add some thinner to get it back to what you prefer.
Whenever you use drops like this, start off with a few drops (5 or so) and mix, then see where the consistency is. Add more as necessary. This way you don’t overdo it. When I use it in top coats, I typically use 18-20 drops, but I also know my preference and have been doing it with this exact polish thinner (not this bottle, but this brand) for years so I know what to add to get it where I like.
One bottle of this usually lasts me 1 to 1.5 years.

This deliciously scented scrub features top notes of cinnamon that pair perfectly with hints of caramelized brown sugar. A hint of nutmeg follows notes of sweet butter and baked bread for a scent so authentic, you would swear you had just baked some!
To my nose, this smells like a cinnamon roll but the cinnamon is almost like Fireball candy cinnamon but a little.. smoother? If you like baked goods and cinnamon – this is definitely for you.

Inspiration: Inspired by my ferocious wild animal is the house cat. Kiki Biscuits the beast to be exact. She adopted me in the summer of 2023 and has been guarding the domain since. Purple is her desired color. Morning sun baths on a cloud shaped cat post. Salmon dinners in the late afternoon and tuna snacks on the veranda watching the sun creep every so slowly over the hills. Shoulder messages on laps while watching the X-files, late night zoomies with piggies, and a night night snooze under the covers after a catnip nightcap.

UNICORN MAGIC SKINCARE | DELUXE CUTICLE BALM HAZELNUT LATTE
Inspiration: Inspired by my favorite animal – squirrels!
Description: This is a cuticle balm (which I find more hydrating for me than creams) that is made with local beeswax from the famous Hollywood Farmers Market, as well as oils that help nourish and soften your cuticles.
This stuff is magical in the Winter/cooler months. Perfect also for rough spots like elbows and knees, beards and hair ends, or anywhere that needs a little extra TLC. As with most anhydrous (oil only) products, a little goes a long way.
Hazelnut Latte – the aroma of freshly brewed Arabica coffee beans combined with creamy vanilla with a base note of nutty hazelnuts.
To my nose it is hazelnut latte (my drink of choice at coffee houses) but it’s a very light scent.
