Zoya Summer 2016 Neon Ultra Brites Collection

by Lisa Heath

Purchased by Me

A couple weeks ago Zoya had a special on their newest collection, and I jumped on it. For $40 I received the Zoya Summer 2016 Neon Ultra Brites Collection, Zoya Purity (white creme) and Zoya Naked Manicure Glossy Seal. Not too bad of a deal.

Zoya Neon Ultra Brites Collection

While I did receive Zoya Purity with this collection, I swatched them without. You can use them to bump up the color a bit, but I like to swatch shades as is as much as possible. I had some trouble photographing some, as they behaved like neons for my camera and that’s not really my strong point. I will point out any discrepancies in my photos below each description.

Let’s take a look.

Cana

Cana

Cana is a bright neon fuchsia creme. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade is more fuchsia pink in person. My camera brightened the neon appeal but dulled the pink.

Erza

Ezra

Erza is a neon red creme. This is one of my favorites in the collection. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Ezra Up

Bisca

Bisca

Bisca is a neon coral pink. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade is much pinker and brighter in person.

Evergreen

Evergreen

Evergreen is a bright green creme. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade is described as an electric green neon, but I didn’t feel it was bright enough to legitimately be a neon. It is bright though.

Juvia

Juvia

Juvia was the hardest of the group to photograph. This is a blue leaning teal neon creme. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade has more green in it in person and it’s brighter. It’s a stunning shade and I just could not get it to photograph.

Mirajane

Mirajane

Mirajane is a classic bright navy creme. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Zoya Summer 2016 Neon Ultra Brites Collection Overview

Zoya Neon Ultra Brites Collection Main

All 6 of these needed 3 coats. The shades are on the sheerer side and dry down to a matte finish (like a lot of neons do) and the colors were incredibly vibrant. Adding a white base does make them pop more (I tested each on 1 nail with a white base) but even then, 3 coats were still required (1 coat of white, 2 coats of the Ultra Brights)

I went into these knowing they would require more than 2 coats, so I wasn’t disappointed. I do like the colors and the vibrancy of the shades. I do love other neons/brights Zoya has done (Hello Lola and Paz!) but the formulas are vastly different. If you aren’t one for 3 coat polishes, these probably aren’t for you. They also dry faster than other Zoya shades, so make sure to apply in decent time or you will run into issues.

Am I happy I bought them? Yes. I do like the shades and 3 coats aren’t an issue for me. I also received Purity and Glossy Seal, which would normally need to be purchased seperately, so for $40.00 I received about $82.00 worth of products. If you purchase the full collection now, Purity and Glossy Seal will not be included.

Price: $10.00 Each |  $60.00 Full Collection

So what are your thoughts? Did you jump on this deal like I did, or did you pass? Will you be picking any of these up eventually?

I bet these really pop over the white if they are that bright on their own.

Gah, those blue polishes! <3 Glitters and sparkles are all very well, but nothing beats a good creme polish.

Love Mirajane. I don’t change my polish that often so I stick with colors like that navy that I’ll like for a week.

These are beautiful even though they took so many coats. It really probably took forever for them to fully dry.

I am not in love with this release, the first in a long time from Zoya where I haven’t wanted any of them

These colours all look so good on you! Three coats usually annoy me though.

These are some great shades! I esp love Juvia and Mirajane! I just realized looking at swatches that all of these names come from the Fairy Tale anime omg!!! I’ve never heard the name Juvia anywhere else and she’s my favorite female character!!! <333
