Summer 2020 Release

It’s late at night, but I got my second wind just a bit ago – so why not do a post? It’s been semi quiet around here with everything going on. Yesterday was my final day at a job I have had and loved for 13 years, and we’re getting closer to moving across the US! I’m doing some swatching in between tasks and completing collections I had agreed to before the hectic stuff started up.

So tonight (this morning?) we’re looking at the Tonic Polish Summer 2020 Release!

There are 10 new shades releasing! Four of the new shades will be part of the “always-in-stock” collection and they will be adding onto 3 different ongoing collections; I’m So Fancy base coats, Neon Brights and Multichrome Parade. The rest will be released as normal and only for a limited time. They might be brought back from the vault at a later time though.

We’re going to kick this off with the “always-in-stock” shades and then move into the limited time shades.

These all release July 25th at 2pm CST! Links and shipping discount codes will be at the bottom of the post.

Tonic Polish | I’m So Pretty

I’m So Pretty is a new addition to the I’m So Fancy base coat collection. It has a sheer formula, but can be built up so you can wear it as a base color, or you can wear it alone. The base is the same formula as the French Undies base coat, so you don’t need an actual base coat under it.

These are slightly more versatile since they can be worn alone, under a sheer color for a little more opacity or as a topper.

I’m So Pretty is a the soft, delicate French Undies base loaded with pinkish violet shimmer. The first 2 photos show it in 1 coat, then 2 coats and finally 3 coats. The final 2 photos show other shades within the collection over it.

Tonic Polish | Hot Punk

Hot Punk is a hot magenta pink creme. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. Without top coat it does dry down to a satin finish.

Hot Punk joins the Neon Brights always-in-stock lineup.

Tonic Polish | Inch Worm

Inch Worm also joins the always-in-stock Neon Brights collection and this one is a pastel lime green creme. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I did find that this one had a little more difficulty self leveling. It wasn’t super obvious, but I could see some areas that took a bit longer to level out. Fairly typical with pastel like formulas, so I was expecting it a bit.

Tonic Polish | Puca Parade

The final shade to join the always-in-stock section is Puca Parade – and this one is part of the Multichrome Parade set!

Puca Parade is a multichrome that shifts pewter to taupe to green to teal to purple at extreme angles. I only really caught hints of the purple on the nail, but I definitely saw it flash. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Polish | Wish Upon A Star

Wish Upon A Star is one of my favorites from this release. This is a sparkling silver scattered holographic base loaded with gold to green to turquoise shimmer, iridescent flakes and silver ultra holo micro glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The color shift on this is phenomenal and it can be used alone (as shown) or as a topper. It is shown over I’m So Pretty in the first set of photos above.

Tonic Polish | Imagine

Imagine is a soft cool toned purple jelly base with strong coral to yellow to green shifting iridescent shimmer, as well as rainbow iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

While the base is sheer, the shimmer and flakes help build the illusion of opacity.

Tonic Polish | My Love

My Love is a soft, medium pink jelly leaning crelly base with iridescent gold to green to blue shimmer, as well as rainbow iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This is a softer pink in person – it brightened up a lot under my lighting.

Tonic Polish | Broken Cloud Effect

Broken Cloud Effect is a soft marshmallow white crelly (it’s white, but not super bright) with red to gold to green shifting Unicorn Pee pigment and iridescent red to yellow to green shifting micro glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Since it is using Unicorn Pee Pigment – this does have a higher than normal price tag and will be $18 in the Tonic shop.

Tonic Polish | Nacred

Nacred is a pearlescent white crelly base loaded with iridescent gold to green to aqua shifting shimmer and flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This is also a top pick for me in this collection. It has an inner glow that I absolutely love, and since it’s not a stark, blinding white base, it looked really good on and wasn’t too “harsh” against my skin tone.

Tonic Polish | Because

Because is the final shade in this set – and this is a soft robin’s egg like aqua blue crelly base with coral to yellow to green shifting iridescent flakes and shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

While this is aqua, in some lighting it took on a slight tinge of turquoise (possibly from the green shift of the shimmer?) so I second guessed the description a couple times. It’s a bright and happy shade.

Tonic Polish | Summer 2020 Release

I like that there are “always-in-stock” shades sprinkled in with releases lately. This gives people the opportunity to purchase the more limited time offerings and then know what to go back for that should be around awhile.

My top picks from this release are: Wish Upon A Star, Nacred and Puca Parade!

Price: $8.00 – $18.00 Each

Doesn’t get the heart racing but I spy some lovely picks in there! I don’t like to wear white polish – too harsh as you say. But Nacred is very pretty.

Yes – white based shades wash me out, but every so often, one like Nacred will work on me ;)

Thankfully none of these interest me. I was really excited for Broken Cloud Effect but the UP just gets drowned out. Love your swatches on the shifty shades.

The UP is definitely more on the subtle side
