It’s a super late night/early morning post from me. I went to bed around 5am after swatching and cropping photos all night. Then at 6am (when I usually get up for work) I got up, got in the shower and while shampooing my hair I realized it was Saturday and I didn’t actually have to be up. So I got out, towel dried (I was in zombie mode) and crawled back into bed. Of course Nick was like “wtf is wrong with you?” and that’s just too long of a list. I ended up sleeping until almost noon… so here we are now and I’m not tired yet.

Not that any of that matters, but Nick’s been working and I feel chatty.

Tonight/this morning we’re going to look at the Tonic Polish Holiday 2020 Collection!

This is a 7 piece collection that consists of 2 shifty shimmer shades, 3 original unicorn pee shades and 2 straight shimmers.

This is basically a shimmer variety set. Nary a flake or holo speck in sight.

Before we start, I do have a small break starting in my middle finger… so if it looks a bit ‘bulbous’ it’s because I did a dip manicure on just that one nail to baby it until it grows long enough to file the break down. I did thin it as much as possible while still being able to protect the break, but.. it looks a little off and that’s why.

These are all set to release at 2pm CST on Sunday (today for most of us) so be ready.

Let’s jump in and take a look!

Tonic Polish | Unicorn

Unicorn is a little misleading this launch. While there are 3 Original Unicorn Pee shades in this set – this isn’t one of them.

Unicorn is a white crelly base with coral to yellow to green shifting iridescent shimmer and pink to yellow to green shifting iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade reminds me a bit of Broken Cloud Effect, but with flakes instead of glitter and iridescent shimmer instead of original unicorn pee. Yes.. the “cousin” to this polish that isn’t named Unicorn is the one with Unicorn Pee. I wouldn’t say they are dupes, but in the same wheelhouse that if you missed out on BCE, this would be an okay replacement.

Tonic Polish | Bluejean Baby

If you can only get ONE polish this release – it should be this one.

Bluejean Baby is a sheer denim blue jelly base loaded with coral to yellow to green shifting shimmer and it is VIBRANT. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

While the base is on the sheerer side, the intensity of the shimmer gives the illusion of opacity so VNL is well covered.

Tonic Polish | Fairy Sweet

Fairy Sweet is the first of 3 original unicorn pee polishes. Tonic Polish added in more unicorn pee pigment to intensify the shimmer, so the price is a little higher this round.

Fairy Sweet is a medium periwinkle jelly base with red to yellow to green shifting unicorn pee shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Polish | Sailor

Sailor! If you remember, Tonic Polish released Sailor Undies over a year ago. Now we finally get the topper for it… but you don’t need Sailor Undies to enjoy this one.

Sailor is a purple tinged navy blue jelly base loaded with red to yellow to green shifting unicorn pee shimmer. Of the 3 new UP shimmer polishes, the UP stands out the most in this one. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I would show this over Sailor Undies, but when I moved in July – Sailor Undies was destashed. I think I saw somewhere that Lindsey was possibly going to try to have Sailor Undies available this launch as well.

Tonic Polish | Sugarplum

Sugarplum is an orchid pink jelly base loaded with red to yellow to green shifting unicorn pee shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade is a bit more pink in person. My camera pulled more of the purple tones out in it.

Tonic Polish | Luscious

Luscious is a rich, almost metallic like, deep cherry red with red shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The deep red base with bright red shimmer gives this one a fiery glow.

Tonic Polish | Royal

Royal is a deep purple base with a warm purple to violet-red shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This one has almost a metallic like look to it as well.

Tonic Polish | Holiday 2020 Collection

I like the 3 different shimmer variants, but still think Lindsey did the whole Unicorn thing to screw with us.

My top 3 from this release are: Bluejean Baby, Luscious and Royal. I love the look of these ones, especially on me.

The collection as a whole is really nice, but I would love to see more shades like Bluejean Baby with different shimmer shifts in different sheer bases.

The Unicorn Pee shades are higher in price this round because Tonic Polish added a lot more pigment so they aren’t so subtle. A lot of times UP doesn’t stand out in light to medium bases, but really shines in darker bases – but Lindsey added a good amount to these 3 so that it’s more noticeable. They will be priced at $19.00 though since the shimmer is more expensive.

Price: $10.00 – $19.00 Each

So what are your thoughts? What do you plan on picking up? I’m seriously debating a backup bottle of Bluejean Baby!
