Fall 2019 Release

Happy Friday and ‘half off candy’ day! Yeah, I celebrate that. I told Jacob that as he gets older – he will appreciate the whole ’50-80% off’ after holiday discount. He’s almost at an age where he gets it.

Since it was Halloween last night, he was off with all his friends Trick or Treating. He continued his ‘classic horror film’ costume trend and went as Jason Voorhees, and I even found a “Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake” tote bag for him to use as a candy receptacle. His best friend’s mom is a brave woman, and after the 7 main boys were done with trick or treating, she kept them all for a sleepover and made sure they were all up and at em for school today.

Anyways, we’re here today to look at the Tonic Nail Polish Fall 2019 Release… so let’s start discussing that!

First, I know that looks like a ton dropping, but really it’s not. Well – kind of. We’re going to be seeing about 10 brand new items launching and then 5-7 previously released items coming back. Some of the items coming back are from Polish Con NOLA and a previous Polish Palette. The Polish Palette shades I previously swatched, so I’m pulling those swatch images because… I am not sure where I put the polishes. Yeah, I’m captain organization over here. There might be a few others, but right now – these are definite.

Okay, so why so many photos? Simple – you get to see 9 of the brand spankin new items in 3 different ways:

1. Glossy.
2. Matte.
3. With the new flake matte topper.

Each set of photos for the Fall shades will be like this. I cut down the amount of poses I do in order to accommodate the additional photos without making my head explode.

For all of these images I used Vapid Commitment Issues as a base coat, Tonic Topper Quick Dry Top Coat (for glossy photos), and Tonic Liquid Velvet Matte Top Coat (for matte photos). I’m just getting that out of the way so I don’t need to repeat it under every photo.

I know it’s not a big issue to anyone, but I’m going to mention it anyways. The temp DROPPED here by a lot. I’m one of those people who always has cold hands, and I happen to be dating someone who thinks 30 degrees is ‘shorts weather’ – so our AC is still on a lot. My skin shrivels in the cold. If my hands look especially old – that’s why… we’ll leave my actual age out of this.

For the Fall collection (which we’re looking at first) the photos will go in this order: Glossy, Matte, Flake Matte Topper.

Ready to jump in?

Tonic Nail Polish | Down In Flames

Down In Flames is the matte flake top coat that you will be seeing over all of the other Fall shades… so I figured it would be best to lead with.

Down In Flames is a matte finish base (same as the Liquid Velvet top coat) packed with red to orange to gold shifting multichrome flakes. I used 1 coat over Tonic Detox (black creme) for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Speak Of The Devil

Speak Of The Devil is a deep, dark chocolate brown scattered holographic loaded with copper strong copper shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Beautiful vampy shade.

Tonic Nail Polish | Off The Hook

Off The Hook is a deep brownish burgundy jelly base loaded with gold to green shifting shimmer and orange iridescent flakes. The shimmer shifts to a rich blue in the bottle, but I didn’t see it on the nail. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Blood On My Hands

Blood On My Hands is a deep, vampy red jelly base with red to orange to gold shimmer mixed in. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Devil’s Advocate

Devil’s Advocate is one of my favorites from this collection. This is a blackened purple jelly base loaded with purple to violet to blue shifting shimmer and flakes. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | In Cold Blood

In Cold Blood is a blackened blue jelly base loaded wtih bright indigo blue shimmer and flakes. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Bat Out Of Hell

Bat Out Of Hell is a black jelly base with green to purple shifting micro flakes and iridescent green flakes. I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Birds Of A Feather

Birds Of A Feather is a teal leaning blue to purple shifting shimmer in a deep blue jelly base. This one naturally dries down to a matte finish – so for this series of photos, the matte is natural finish, so I only added glossy and flake topper for the photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Cloud Nine

Cloud Nine is another favorite of mine. It has a stunning glowy thing going on that always gets me. This is a dusty lilac purple satin base with bright aqua blue shimmer and green blue iridescent flakes. Since it dries to a satin finish, I did not use matte top coat for these photos, but I did use 3 thin coats for the polish.

Tonic Nail Polish | Poor Unfortunate Souls

Poor Unfortunate Souls is a medium-dark grey creme base with indigo blue to purple to copper shifting shimmer. With a shiny top coat, I feel like this shade just stands out. I love it with matte top coat, but the shimmer is much more subdued that way. I used 2 coats for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Pearl Diver

Pearl Diver is from Polish Con NOLA and it’s a matte purple base with purple to pink shifting shimmer and gold to pink to purple iridescent flakes. This is a “lumichrome” as Tonic calls it (their word for pastel multichrome). I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Naturally dries to a matte finish, so I show it with both natural and with a glossy top coat.

Tonic Nail Polish | Sky Diver

Sky Diver is also from Polish Con NOLA, and this is a matte blue ‘lumichrome’ with a matte blue base loaded with purple to blue shifting shimmer and gold to pink to purple iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats for these photos, and show it in both natural (matte) and with a glossy top coat.

Tonic Nail Polish | Field Of Flowers

Field of Flowers is a matte base loaded with green to blue to purple shifting microflakes, and pink to yellow to green shifting flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This does dry matte… but I messed up and apparently didn’t capture that. So here’s the glossy shots.

Tonic Polish | Colorful Foliage Shot

Tonic Polish Colorful Foliage Shot is a reddish berry jelly base with intense fuchsia pink to gold shimmer mixed in. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. This shade is slightly more berry in person, my camera drew heavy red out of it.

This shade was from the October 2018 Polish Palette set, and it’s the first time they’ve been available outside the box.

Tonic Polish | PSL or Bust!

Tonic Polish PSL or Bust! is an interesting shade. It’s not quite full on gold, but it’s not full on bronze or copper. If you took an even amount of all 3 shades and mixed them together – you get this color. You see flashes of all 3 depending on lighting, but in person it feels like the bronze mellowed out the gold and copper like qualities.

I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. It is a metallic shade, so light brush strokes are visible.

This shade was from the October 2018 Polish Palette set, and it’s the first time they’ve been available outside the box.
