August 2018 Releases
Okay so I’m rushing a little at this point to have this post done and ready to go! I was planning on having a bit more time tonight, but … mom life keeps you on your toes.
Last weekend I took Jacob to see the new Mission Impossible, and said he could invite a friend. He invited a friend I’ve never met (I know they had some classes together in 6th grade, and they play Fortnite together) so I got to meet his parents. Well his parents invited him over for swimming and such today while I was at work, and they asked around 4pm if they could keep him overnight. So I spent a bit after work making sure he had clean clothes for tomorrow and essentials to clean up with in the morning.
Now… it’s time to do the post! Today we’re looking at the Tonic Nail Polish August 2018 Releases!
We’ve got an assortment of shimmers, holographics, multichromes and… unicorn pee!
These are set to release on the 12th at 2pm CST.. so be ready. Prices are still being determined at this point, so I’ll update when they’ve been set.
Whatever With Your However
Whatever With Your However is a vibrant grape purple base with bright pink shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Butterfly
Butterfly is a topper that has the original red to green shifting Unicorn Pee shimmer, plus it’s filled with a rainbow of iridescent flakes. I used 1 coat over Tonic Nail Polish Detox.
Baby It’s You
Baby It’s You is an aqua to indigo shifting sister to Unicorn Pee shimmer. It also has a rainbow of iridescent flakes mixed in. I used 1 coat over Tonic Nail Polish Detox.
Icy Hot
Icy Hot is a top pick of mine from this collection. Icy Hot is a silver scattered holographic with a bright flash of pale blue to purple shifting shimmer. The holo is intense. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The shimmer honestly glows in person. It’s amazing.
Chick Habit
Chick Habit is a silver scattered holographic base with pale pink to gold shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Stuntman Mike
Stuntman Mike is a dark blue creme base with red shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
2 things about Stuntman Mike:
1 – it’s apparently secretly a magnetic, but I read that maker note AFTER my swatches were done. I’ll try to update with magnetized photos this weekend. *UPDATE* I added photos of it magnetized after the “normal” swatches
2 – Some shimmer settled in the bottle. It still has plenty in it, but visually – it looks like it all went to the side/bottom. Still looks good with lots of shimmer.
With Magnet
Death Proof
Death Proof is a vibrant red with red shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
2 things with this shade!
1 – Also secretly a magnetic, but I didn’t read that part until swatches were done… so again – will update this weekend. *UPDATE* Magnetized photos added after normal swatches
2 – this shade is a deeper red in person. Reds are weird on me, and this is a lot brighter in my photos.
With Magnet
Hold Tight
Hold Tight is a purple to pink to gold to green shifting multichrome shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Miles To Go
Miles To Go is a blue leaning teal jelly with aqua to indigo shifting “sister” unicorn pee shimmer and indigo iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Tonic Nail Polish August 2018 Releases
There we have it! The Tonic Nail Polish August 2018 Releases! Application on all of them was perfection, as usual. My favorites were the 2 holos (Icy Hot and Chick Habit) and then my third favorite is Whatever With Your However.

I looked at my collection the other day and the brand with the most is Tonic. I just can’t resist these even though I have many I haven’t worn yet. I will absolutely buy the red since I never see reds that I fall for. But I want almost every other polish. August 12th it is!!
