Mentality The Dark Mattes Swatches and Review

by Lisa Heath

***Added 7/23/15 – please read this announcement ***

If you have purchased from Mentality from April 2015 – June 2015 and you are experiencing sensitivity, itchiness or burning, please contact Mentality directly to have your polishes replaced. Their email is [email protected]

I personally did NOT experience any reactions when using these polishes, but many did. Please know I would have been fully transparent had I known the damage that was being caused. Again, please read the announcement above and by clicking on it, you will be taken to Mentality’s initial statement regarding the issue.

Mentality Week is halfway over!  I know, I’m a little sad as well… but I’m sure there will be plenty more Mentality polishes on the blog soon enough :)

Tonight I will be showing you the Dark Mattes from Mentality.  This is an 8 piece collection, and I have 7 of them to show you.

As with the last set of mattes (the Pastel Mattes!) I will be showing you each polish with and without top coat.  I will say, of all the Mentality matte shades – these ones seem to have the biggest transformation with top coat added!

Overview

Again, another great collection!  I didn’t have any application issues and most of these were actually 1 coaters, but I did 2 out of habit.  I like these as matte shades… but I LOVE them with top coat.  I rarely say that with matte shades – but the shimmer hidden in these are incredible with top coat!   As with most matte polishes, dry time on these are pretty quick.  You don’t have to move super fast for application, but you don’t want to be a slow poke or they will start to dry and drag.  One thing I will say when applying these, when you first put them on, they almost apply like a creme or shimmer polish would – very smooth and fluid and then they dry down to a matte.  So even if you have problems applying mattes these are definitely user friendly.
