Who’s ready for a new month of The Holo Hookup? Tonight I have The Holo Hookup December 2017 It’s Raining Men!

So it’s December, and the ladies at The Holo Hookup gave us some eye candy this month! This month’s theme is It’s Raining Men! and each polish pulls inspiration from 4 incredible men.  Below is the inspiration photo!

As always, I’ll do a quick rundown for those new to The Holo Hookup!

This is an all holographic box and each month it will have 3 constant indie makers in it – Glisten & GlowDIFFERENT dimension and Cupcake Polish. Each month there will also be one “guest” contributor, and for December 2017 the guest maker is Pahlish!

Side note – I just got Pahlish’s swatch package for Black Friday and umph. Yum.

Let’s see what they have in store for us this month!

Cupcake Polish – Ryan

Cupcake Polish took on Ryan Reynolds for her inspiration. Cupcake Polish Ryan is a medium sea green creme based linear holographic. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Different Dimension – Jesse

Different Dimension took on Jesse Williams as her inspiration! Jesse is an ivory cream based linear holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Glisten & Glow – Channing

Glisten & Glow used Channing Tatum as inspiration! Channing is a dusty grey linear holographic with purple undertones and purple shimmer flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Pahlish – Idris

Pahlish took on Idris Elba as her inspiration!  Idris is a warm milk chocolate taupe linear holographic with rose gold shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Okay so I attempted some nail art for this. Don’t laugh.

First I did a gradient with Different Dimension Jesse and Glisten & Glow Channing. This was going to be the base for some stamping using Cupcake Polish and Pahlish. I’m impatient though and when I stamped it went *squish* cause it wasn’t fully dry. By the squished image though, I can tell you that both the Cupcake and the Pahlish DO stamp. The Different Dimension and Glisten & Glow shades don’t really though since they are sheerer. I’m going to reattempt this weekend to show that! Until then though… here’s the gradient before I ruined it.

Then I was like “OMG umbrellas and raindrops!” so I did nail vinyls – but my umbrellas look sad. My vision was a lot better. But I’m going to reattempt this too. Fingers crossed.

Then I went to my tried and true. Dotticure. I can’t really screw this up. Although I did consider that I might smear it with top coat but BOOM! I didn’t. Perfectish dots. I used all 4 colors for this!

Now I hope you all have a better understanding of why I rarely do nail art. I’m trying to push myself though. That’s my 2018 goal, to do more nail art and get better at it.

I like the theme interpretation for these. It feels like most are modeled after the eyes of each actor. All 4 colors are also very Fall appropriate. Bolder shades with a sort of dustiness to them.
