Girly Bits Hoop! There It Is Collection Swatches & Review

Ready for some bright shades tonight?  Girly Bits is releasing a new collection on April 19th that consists of 10 neons and 1 glitter top coat that can go over any of the shades.

If you’ve ever tried to photograph neons, you know that it can make your camera go crazy, and that neons can be finicky depending on camera, lighting and angles.  All of the photos I took for this collection are as close as I could capture and from my monitor, they are very close to being color accurate.

I did NOT use white bases for any of these shades, so what you are seeing is 100% the shades out of the bottle only.

Don’t Paddle Break A Nail

Don't Paddle Break A Nail

Don’t Paddle Break A Nail is a neon magenta.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

You’re My Hooper Hero is a neon heavily pink leaning coral.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Hoop! There It Is

Hoop There It Is full

Hoop! There It Is is a neon orange leaning coral.  This was probably the hardest to photograph for me as far as brightness and kept going a little more orange than it is in person.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Thump Your Melons

Thump Your Melons

Thump Your Melons was one of my favorite of the set, both for the color and the name.  This is a neon citrus orange and it looks gorgeous on, and I’m usually not an orange person.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

These Hips Don’t Lie

These Hips Don't Lie

These Hips Don’t Lie is a neon yellow and is brighter in person than in my photos.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos, and of all whole set this one probably had the streakiest formula.  It was still fine to work with, but I had some streaks on the second coat (the rest just still had VNL on the second coat, but no streaks) and needed the third coat to even out.

It’s Hoop To Be Square

It's Hoop To Be Square

It’s Hoop To Be Square was another surprise favorite in the collection.  This is a neon Spring green.  I think I am drawn to this one and Thump Your Melons because of all the neons I have, I don’t think I have any like these.

I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

I’ve Got High Hoops

I've Got High Hoops

I’ve Got High Hoops is the neon blurple in the set.  In person it does have a touch more purple in comparison to my photos.  My camera always wants to pick up blurples as more blue than anything.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

Get Indie Flow

Get Indie Flow

Get Indie Flow is a neon purple. I love purple, so of course this is another favorite! I used 3 thin coats for these photos.

You Spin Me Round

you spin me round

You Spin Me Round is the glitter top coat in the collection.  This has a gorgeous scattering of black, white and silver small hex glitters with silver holo micro glitter.  It’s a perfect top coat for the collection because it looks amazing over all 10 neon shades.

I used 1 coat over It’s Hoop To Be Square.

Overview

This is a gorgeous collection and I’ve been waiting for it to hit my mailbox since I saw a sneak peek a couple weeks ago.  For all neon photos I used 3 thin coats for full opacity and didn’t need a white base to make the colors pop.  I do use thin coats to paint my nails typically, and I know that a few shades would have been fine with only 2 thicker coats.

Application wise, they all applied smoothly and evenly, and the only issue I had was These Hips Don’t Lie was slightly streaky on the first 2 coats but evened out on the 3rd.  As with most true neons, these shades dry down to a semi matte finish.  I used Girly Bits What A Rush quick dry top coat for all 11 photos to give them a gorgeous gloss.

Price: $12.00 CAD ($9.55 US) or you can purchase the full collection at a slight discount for $121.00 CAD (about $97.00 US)
