Valentine’s Day Release

By now you’ve probably seen the Tonic Nail Polish reveal video, and now I have a blog post to share the 6 new shades releasing on February 3rd! I’ll actually be showing 7 polishes, 6 are with the Tonic Nail Polish Valentine’s Day Release, and one is the newish French Undies base that released a month or so ago.

So with the Tonic Nail Polish Valentine’s Day Release we have 2 reddish tones, 2 pinks, a deep purple and a silver. The majority of the shades are very “Valentine’s Day-esque” which is to be expected.

In a few hours (around 7pm CST) Delanie of  Fat Cat Pawlished  will be doing a live swatchfest of these new shades as well, so be sure to tune into that as well!

Let’s jump in and take a look!

Tonic Nail Polish | Heart On Fire

Heart On Fire is a red toned violet jelly base loaded with coral to gold to green shifting shimmer and some holo flecks mixed in. While the base is a purple jelly, after the second coat most traces of purple will be gone for the most part. The shimmer is intense and takes over making it more of a medium burnt reddish shade with an orange to slightly green shift in it.

Application is nice, but the first coat appears really sheer, however it does build up fast with all the shimmer.

I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Polish | Truly Madly Deeply

Won’t deny it, I’ve had the Savage Garden song stuck in my head since I found out the name of this polish. It came out when I was a freshman in high school and was overplayed like crazy in the quad and every dance.

Truly Madly Deeply looks a lot like Heart On Fire on first coat, but once built up, you can see a bit of a difference in it. This is a deep burgundy jelly base loaded with bright red to coppery orange shifting shimmer mixed in.

Much like Heart On Fire, it was leaning sheer on first coat but builds up nicely due to the shimmer content.

I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Once Upon A Dream

Once Upon A Dream is a metallic pale pink ultra linear holographic with silver flakes and tiny holo microglitters mixed in. The flame is super strong on this shade, and the holo microglitters are harder to see among the flame and silver flakes.

I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Please Don’t Say I Love You

Please Don’t Say I Love You is a pale bubblegum pink linear holographic. It’s a bit softer than my photos show, as the stronger lighting amps it up a tiny bit with the holo. Shade dries down a touch matte, so top coat really brings out the holo more.

I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | You Are All I Need

You Are All I Need is my top pick cause.. well deep purple. This is a blackened purple, almost black base loaded with linear holo and pink to green shifting shimmer flecks. The base itself is actually black according to Lindsey (and she made it so she would know) but the shimmer and elements mixed in makes it more deep purple.

I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | Angel

Angel is a pale silver linear holographic with micro holographic glitters mixed in. It’s a paler silver compared to Jinx and the linear holo is strong, but not as powerful as in Jinx. The finish is also more chrome like. It’s like a slightly more subdued sister to Jinx really.

I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tonic Nail Polish | French Undies

French Undies is a base coat that has a healthy wash of pinky coral to it. This can be worn alone for a healthy, subtle pink glow or as an actual base coat to your polishes. I do use peel off base coat when swatching to cut down on acetone usage for removal, but I would use this for when I want to go more natural.

Below I will show it on alone, then I did 2 nails with it on and 2 nails plain so you can see the difference when wearing it vs not.

For the next photo, the index and middle finger have French Undies on, ring finger and pinkie are bare.

Tonic Nail Polish Valentine’s Day Release

For me, this collection is Valentines Day like with the pinks and reds, but they have a little edge so they don’t scream VALENTINE’S DAY! Please Don’t Say I Love You is probably the only one that really looks like a typical V-Day shade. My favorites are: You Are All I Need, Heart On Fire and Once Upon A Dream.

Price: $10.00 – $13.00 Each | $65.00 Whole Shebang (Includes the main 6 shades, not French Undies)
