Smokey Mountain Lacquers released an American Horror Story inspired collection and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve been loving American Horror Story and my boyfriend and I have been keeping up on it since the first season, and although a few portions of some seasons make us think “WTF?”.. overall – we are hooked!
I originally received this collection right before the American Horror Story Hotel premiered, so I’m a little late getting this post up – but you’ll see why below.

Earthly Mother is a beautiful glitter topper filled with purple, orange, gold and green glitters. This polish is inspired by Misty Day from American Horror Story Coven. I used 1 coat of Earthly Mother over Latex Fetish and a glossy top coat.
Coven was one of my favorite seasons from AHS!
Latex Fetish is a black cream that borders on a crelly consistency, and is inspired by the famous latex suit from American Horror Story Murder House. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Out of all the AHS seasons so far – Murder House is still my #1 favorite season. It had a nice mix of creepy, element of surprise and all that jazz for me. I kinda want to rewatch that season again.
Lounge Singer is a black cream with a ton of gold shimmer. This is inspired from an upcoming character on American Horror Story Hotel. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Hotel is the current season (of course) so I wore this the night of the season premiere… cause I had to!
Little One is a bubble gum pink cream with purple and gold shimmer. This polish is inspired from Ma Petit in American Horror Story Freak Show. My photo is showing it a tad lighter than it actually is. Not sure why, but my camera wouldn’t accept it was a darker pink, but only by a little bit.
Freak Show was a season that I was SO excited about for the first half, but then it fizzled out for me. Not sure why, but in the beginning I was like “OH MAN!” then suddenly I was like “Eh, ok” – so far it’s probably my least favorite season.
Soulless is a shimmery red jelly with black hex and black skull glitter. This polish is inspired by Fiona from American Horror Story Coven. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat.
Again… loved Coven and Fiona.. she was fabulous. I already miss Jessica Lange in the current season.
Ok so you can see my nails are different (woo for them growing fast in a week). I received this polish with the original collection before the premiere of AHS Hotel, BUT my bottle had a small issue. I contacted Kim from SML and boom – she shipped out a new bottle. Her customer service is incredible. My original bottle had some streaking issues so she said to just set it aside and she would shoot me off a new bottle and I had it a few days later. Gotta love an indie that is so quick to replace and willing to fix any issues. Speaks volumes! So thank you Kim!
Other bloggers who reviewed this shade didn’t have the issue I had, so I truly think it was just my bottle that was an issue – so those that ordered it – don’t worry.
Innocence is a grey cream with gorgeous blue shimmer. This polish is inspired by Pepper from American Horror Story Asylum and Freak Show. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos and this is my favorite polish in the entire collection.
Freak Show, as I already said wasn’t my favorite. Asylum was really good minus the weird alien thing they tried to make happen. I found that was just… odd and my only real issue with that season. But Pepper.. she’s a favorite character of mine.
Smokey Mountain Lacquers AHS Inspired Halloween 2015 Collection Overview
This was a fun collection and I liked the selection of polishes created for the specific characters. I only had a slight issue with one shade in this collection, but as I mentioned – Smokey Mountain Lacquers corrected my bottle quickly – so aside from that, I had no issues.
My top picks are Innocence, Lounge Singer and Latex Fetish.
Price: $6.00 for 8ml | $9.00 for 15ml
