OPI Hello Kitty Collection

Press Sample of OPI Hello Kitty Collection

The OPI Hello Kitty Collection landed in my mailbox recently, and I couldn’t wait to start it. Growing up I always loved Hello Kitty (Keroppi was actually my favorite) and so I was actually kind of excited to see OPI did a collection with Hello Kitty as the theme.

PicMonkey Collage

OPI  wanted to infuse this collection with all the charm and playfulness of its namesake. Together with their names, these lacquers capture Hello Kitty’s world to perfection. Think delicious pinks, punchy primaries, pearly white and licorice black. Hello Kitty by OPI celebrates all things happy, cute, colorful and sweet with 12 limited-edition nail lacquers and matching GelColor shades.

OPI Starry-Eyed For Dear Daniel is a sheer fuchsia jelly base packed with pink and magenta microglitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. You can also layer this over another shade. One of my favorites of the collection and what you see in the bottle perfectly translates to the nail.

OPI My Pal Joey is the perfect true blue creme. Application was perfection – but this is the type of blue with stinky pigment. If you’re a blue lover you know what I’m talking about. Some blue pigments have a skunk smell, so fair warning. Is it worth getting? Yes. Despite the scent – I still love it.

I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

OPI Hello Kitty Collection Overview

OPI Hello Kitty Collection

Overall, I was impressed by the application of all 12 shades. I didn’t have any issues and all were perfect in 2-3 coats. The colors aren’t the most unique, but if you are looking for these shades with flawless application, then they are worth picking up. The 3 shimmery shades were nicely done as well and translated well from the bottle to the nail.

I also wanted to say thank you to OPI for not including a metallic base with hex glitters in this collection.

There is one Special Edition shade in this collection that isn’t shown and that’s Say Hello Kitty! which also includes Swarovski crystal bows and retails for $19.95.

Price: $9.50 Each

WHERE TO FIND THEM:  ULTA, ULTA.com, and select professional salons

For additional information, please visit OPI Follow OPI on Twitter and Instagram @OPI_PRODUCTS and go to Facebook to become a fan.

You can find all of these shades in the GelColor formula as well.

What did you think of the OPI Hello Kitty Collection? Will you be picking any up? Which are your favorites?

Nice swatches and pix! Probably nothing here for me, as I am not into reds pinks or cremes… But still enjoy the collection…

Thank you Arathael! And you would definitely need to be into pinks and reds to want most of this collection!

As a Hello Kitty and nail polish collector (hoarder), I’ve been excited for this collection for months. I’m loving the pinks and glitters for sure. At the moment, I’m patiently (not!) awaiting to receive them in the mail. Thanks for the beautiful swatches & review. :)

I got to preview this collection with OPI back in July and it was really difficult keeping my mouth shut about it! I was really happy to see that all the formulas and application for all 12 shades was darn near perfect and I think it was perfect for the Hello Kitty theme!

Thank you so much and I really hope you enjoy your set when they arrive!

I actually typed up 7 but only posted 3! We’re moving into tax season mode at work, so there will be a lot more post prep and all that going on over the weekend.

Both of your picks are great! My Pal Joey especially!

It’s a pretty collection overall but I think it lacks that one green shade for Keroppi to be complete!

Reply
Lisa Heath January 18, 2016 - 12:06 pm

Keroppi was my favorite and I was kinda “what?!” when I saw none of the shades were green!

When I saw it at CPNA I was excited about it – and once I tried each shade I was really happy how they did this collection. Simple but perfect

Not the most unique colors but its Hello Kitty and that means I need them all lol. It’s definitely a cutesy collection.

No, not the most unique – but application wise – it’s some of the best OPI has done. It is very much a cutesy collection

You had me at Hello Kitty. I would buy these for the design on the lid alone. I expected that there would be more glitter toppers in this collection, though. Cute Hello Kitty glitter – ooooh!
