OPI Gwen Stefani Collection Swatches and Review

by Lisa Heath

OPI has partnered with Gwen Stefani for a fabulous 7 piece limited edition collection.  When I originally got the email saying that OPI partnered with Gwen Stefani I was THRILLED!  I knew this would be an awesome collaboration, and I wasn’t disappointed!

Check out these 7 shades, and I’d love to hear what you think in the comments!

Love.Angel.Music.Baby

Love

Love.Angel.Music.Baby is a gold polish with a satin finish.  I am in LOVE.  Dry time was fast and it was completely opaque in 2 thin coats.

4 In The Morning

4 In The Morning

4 In The Morning is a black satin finish polish and it looks like I have leather on my nails.  Very interesting shade and again… I love it.  4 In The Morning had fairly fast dry time, similar to Love.Angel.Music.Baby.  I used 2 coats for this photo.  It applied incredibly smooth and simply hugged the nail!

4 In The Morning CU

Hey Baby

Hey Baby

Hey Baby is a vibrant pink creme.  Application was flawless for me.  I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat.  For some reason I failed to take a 2 finger swatch of this shade.  Not sure what happened! Sorry!

I Sing In Color

I Sing In Color

I Sing In Color is a deep, dark, vampy black cherry shade.  It looks almost black.  Super glossy and perfect for this time of year.  I used 2 coats for this photo and a glossy top coat.

In True Stefani Fashion

In True Stefani Fashion is the glitter top coat in the collection!  This is a clear base with small silver holographic glitters as well as medium square silver holographic glitter.  I used 1 coat over 4 In The Morning.

Push and Shove

Push and Shove

Push and Shove is the polish I was extremely excited about – and it didn’t disappoint!  Push and Shove is a metallic silver chrome polish.  I used 2 coats for this photo and this is the best chrome finish polish I own.  BUT if you have ridges and such, there is a strong chance they will show big time with the shade.  I don’t have prominent nail ridges, so I didn’t run across this issue too much.  But if you do,  it comes with a special base coat called Lay Down That Base to try to help with it!

Over & Over A-Gwen

Over & Over A Gwen

Over & Over A-Gwen is a vibrant red creme. The formula was on the runny side for me and I had to be careful not to let it pool in the cuticles.  It wasn’t impossible, but I needed to be careful.  This shade comes in a special Gwen Stefani box that includes the red polish seen above, plus Swarovski studs and crystals and nail glue to apply the studs.  I did a simple design with the studs, I hope to do a more elaborate one this weekend!

Here is the box set:

Love special boxes like this one!  It also has an insert with some design ideas!  I used 2 coats of Over & Over A-Gwen and added some gold circle studs using the nail glue.

Overview

Fabulous collection!  I love the mix of satin finishes with creme shades.  All of the polishes are pretty classic shades, but the addition of Push and Shove and the Over & Over A-Gwen box set are huge bonuses.  I am really hoping OPI and Gwen Stefani partner up again soon for another collection.  I absolutely adore her!

Both are gorgeous! I love the leather look 4 In The Morning Has!

I really want Love.Angel.Music.Baby and 4 in the morning. I want Push and Shove to be magical, but it seems to get mixed reviews. I love that mirror chrome finish!

Lisa Heath January 15, 2014 - 9:47 am

I think Push and Shove reviews depend strongly on imperfections in a nail. If you have prominent ridges or nicks in your nail – they will show. I have smoother nails so it doesn’t show as much.

4 in the Morning looks very unique, I love that matte leather effect.

Lisa Heath January 15, 2014 - 9:47 am

I have several black mattes and cremes, but the satin finish with it is awesome!

I’m not a huge Gwen fan, and none of these colors really call to me :/ The red is super pretty tho!

Lisa Heath January 15, 2014 - 9:48 am

It can be hard to get into a collection if you aren’t feeling the person it’s based on! I completely get that :)

I love Gwen’s style and I think it’s well represented in this line. Probably one of my favorite celebrity nail lines besides Carrie’s Nicole by OPI collection. I can see myself wearing all of these!

Love.Angel.Music.Baby was a surprising favorite for me. I don’t wear many yellows and golds, but I love it!

Lisa Heath January 15, 2014 - 9:27 pm

They did a great job with that one and it would probably look great on a wide variety of skin tones!

Briana @ Nail A College Drop Out January 15, 2014 - 8:21 pm

i like push & shove but i wonder if it would last longer if you were to stack it with no chip top coat. ie lay down the base/push&shove/top coat/push & shove

Lisa Heath January 15, 2014 - 9:28 pm

I’m not sure -I may have to try it!
