Lumen Nails | Varis

Happy super early Thursday! I have the May Superstition shade from Lumen Nails to share.. and this month is Varis!

Every month in 2023 … right on the 13th.. Lumen Nails will be releasing a shade based on a different superstition. So far we’ve seen Friday the 13th (January), Just My Luck (February), Under The Influence (March), Star Magic (April) and now we have Varis!

You can see this shade swatched on my YouTube channel below:

For May’s Superstition – Lumen Nails took on a superstition that revolves around coffee! We all love coffee but did you know it is considered bad luck to make a toast with coffee? (yes even iced coffee!) Coffee is meant to be savored slowly and intentionally and with friends or while enjoying a quiet moment.

Why the name Varis? Varis means Strong… and I personally love my coffee strong (I’m assuming that’s the connection?)

Let’s jump in and take a look at this polish. It will be releasing on May 13th and links will be at the end of this post.

Varis is a sheer, slightly milky coffee brown crelly base with pink to orange to golden shimmery shift. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

While each coat has a sheerness to it, it does build up quite beautifully

Lumen Nails | Varis

This might be my favorite Superstition Series shade so far. The shimmer aspect is strong, but I’m loving brown and grey bases lately.

Varis is actually the masculine form of a Greek word that means “heavy” and is also used in the case of coffee that is very strong. This the reason for the masculine form—the word for “coffee”, “kafes”, is also masculine. So for strong coffee you’d say “kafes varis.” Source: I speak the language fluently.
