Lac Attack Magical Mischief Collection Swatches and Review

by Lisa Heath

This post is for the Harry Potter fans out there!  Lac Attack has made a Harry Potter inspired polish collection, and I have the shades to share with you today!

I am a fan of Harry Potter and I think it’s the only movie series that I have actually seen each movie in the theater as they released, so I was excited to receive this 10 piece collection from Lac Attack!

Dobby The Free Elf

Dobby The Free Elf

I’m starting this post off with Dobby The Free Elf.  As you can see from the photos, the hex glitters are curling.  I emailed Lac Attack and was told the issue was fixed, so customers will NOT get a curling batch – and they said to go ahead and post the photos I have of it.  Dobby The Free Elf is a green jelly base with bronze and green glitters in hexes and bars.  I used 2 coats for this photo.

This one was inspired by Dobby (which I’m sure was obvious) who is one of my favorites in the movies.  I seriously gasped and said “NOO!  DOBBY!!” when he met his demise.  Poor Dobby :(

Loony Lovegood

Loony Lovegood

Loony Lovegood is a light pink crelly base with pastel blue, purple and pink dot glitters as well as silver stars.  I used 3 coats for this photo.

Loony Lovegood is “Loony” Luna Lovegood’s polish. She’s a little bit out there, but also a wonderfully loyal and clever friend.

Weasley Is Our King

Weasley Is Our King

Weasley Is Our King is a vibrant orange base with strong gold shimmer throughout.  I used 2 coats for this photo.

Weasley is our King is based on Ronald Weasley, Harry’s best friend. Weasley is our King is a song that started as an insult, but when they won the Quidditch Cup, the Gryffindors rewrote it – “Weasley can save anything, he never leaves a single ring”

The Chosen One

The Chosen One

The Chosen One is a red glittery top coat with a clear base and red shred, micro, dot and hex glitters mixed in.  I used just 1 coat over OPI Tomorrow Never Dies.

The Chosen One is named for Harry Potter himself.

The Brightest Witch

The Brightest Witch

The Brightest Witch is a dusty teal jelly base with purple, black, blue and silver glitter throughout in multiple shapes.  I used 3 coats for this photo.

The Brightest Witch is named for Hermione Granger, who is often called “the brightest witch of her age”.

Padfoot is my favorite of the collection!  This is a red tinged brown jelly base with holographic micro glitter within it.  I used 3 coats for this photo.

Padfoot is based on Sirius Black.

Moony

Moony

Moony is another favorite!  This is a silver foil shade with flecks of blue.  I used 2 coats for this photo

Moony is inspired by Remus Lupin, nicknamed “Moony” because of his werewolf condition.

Mad-Eye

Mad Eye full

Mad-Eye is another glitter top coat in the collection.  This one contains black and blue hex glitters in various sizes as well as micro bar glitters in a clear base.  I used 2 coats over OPI My Pointe Exactly.

Mad-Eye – named for Alastor ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody.

Nymphadora

Nymphadora

Nymphadora is a lovely iridescent top coat.  This one is jam PACKED with iridescent shreds and shapes in an iridescent shimmery base.  One of those top coats that would liven up any shade!  I used 1 coat over OPI Vampsterdam.

Nymphadora is inspired by Nymphadora Tonks.

APWBD

APWBD

Last, but not least, is APWBD (which stands for Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore).  This is a glow in the dark glitter top coat.  It contains various shapes of glitter in blue, purple, silver and green holographic.  I used 2 coats over OPI Thanks a Windmillion!

This shade was inspired by the great Headmaster of Hogwarts, Dumbledore.

I tried getting a Glow In The Dark shot, but I don’t have any super dark rooms in my home!  I tried and tried.  But trust me, the GitD effect is actually quite strong on this!

Overview

Overall, I like this collection.  Aside from Dobby The Free Elf (which has been fixed on Lac Attack’s end!) I had no application issues.  I like the names and feel it covers a Harry Potter theme nicely.

My Top Picks:  Padfoot, APWBD, Weasley Is Our King, Moony and Nymphadora

Price:  $8.00

Padfoot is GORGEOUS! I don’t remember seeing a polish like that before (at least not recently)…and it doesn’t hurt that I <3 Sirius :)

Luna, Ron, & Padfoot fits the characters perfectly! And I was very sad about Dobby too! (Although it would have been more heartwrenching if they hadn’t had such an extremely different voice actor). APWBD and The Brightest Witch are my favorites! :)
