Glasstic Water Bottle Review

by Lisa Heath

I have something a little different for you today!  About 4 months ago I started my first ever diet.  The first thing I cut out when preparing to diet (yes, I had to prepare) was soda.  I started sticking to just water.  In doing so, I needed to be able to carry my water in a bottle that stayed cold longer than others.  Once water isn’t cold anymore, I have issues drinking it.

Glasstic side

This is where Glasstics Water Bottle comes in.

I received a Glasstics Water Bottle in blue.  This is a fairly easy to use bottle that has a plastic outer casing and a glass cylinder inside.  This keeps drinks colder longer.

Lets look at the design a little closer

Glasstic mouth

This is the mouth of the bottle.  It’s a little awkward for me to use.  It’s doable, I managed, but it wasn’t comfortable entirely.  Had the opening been closer to the edge it probably would have been a bit better for me.

Glasstic lock

The lid also has a “lock” on it so it doesn’t open up accidentally in transit.  To open, you just flip it to unlocked and pop the top up.  Pretty simple!

Glasstic bottom

There are 2 ways you can clean the Glasstic Water Bottle.  Either wash it in the sink with hot soapy water and a bottle brush, or the way I prefer… in the dishwasher!  Taking this apart for cleaning was REALLY easy.  I just unscrewed the bottom and the top blue pieces and slid the inner glass cylinder out of the plastic casing.  I placed all 4 pieces in the top rack of my dishwasher, and an hour or so later, I had a clean set ready to go.

Glasstic handle

This is one aspect of the bottle I wasn’t thrilled with.  The handle for carrying the bottle just didn’t feel right.  It wasn’t a bad design, but it wasn’t full comfortable for my hands.  The bottle itself is a little on the heavier side, so it might just be the bulk of a full bottle with this type of carrying mechanism, but I was finding myself not reaching for it as much knowing how I would need to carry it around, as it was too large to just pop in my small purse.

Overview

I got quite a bit of use out of the Glasstic Water Bottle over the last month.  It’s easy to clean, fast to assemble and it really does keep drinks cold for a MUCH longer period of time than a standard bottle does.  From the different liquids I tried, I noticed the drinks just tasted better in my Glasstic Water Bottle, and that’s probably due to the fact that it’s being stored in glass instead of plastic.  It is a little heavy and the handle isn’t the most convenient for me, but overall, I will still use it a lot.

Should the glass inside break, it is contained within the plastic outer shell, so you shouldn’t need to worry about a horrible cleanup.  You would just need to let the liquid drain in a sink, then carefully remove the glass into a garbage can.  Glasstic will replace the glass insert for $7.99 (which covers shipping and handling).  I did drop this at least 4 times, if not more – and the glass stayed well protected.  What can I say?  I’m a klutz!

Price: $19.99
