Alter Ego Nail Enamel New Releases Swatches & Review

by Lisa Heath

Disclaimer

Alter Ego Nail Enamel is releasing 7 new shades and there is definitely a little something for everyone in here!  From beige to pink to red!

There is also a speed dry top coat called She Shines! which I used with all swatches that have top coat on them (I will note it in each review)

Lets take a look!

Curses! Foiled Again!

Curses Foiled Again

I’m starting this off with one of my favorites!  This is Curses! Foiled Again and it’s a gorgeous metallic silver shade that dries to a satin finish.  I did not use top coat for these photos because I love the satin finish they have naturally.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

Aussie Rock Hound

Aussie Rock Hound

Aussie Rock Hound is a sheer blue jelly base with iridescent shreds within.  I was expecting some to stick up or overlap, but they actually laid nicely in the jelly base!  I used 3 coats for these photos.

Does The Splits

Does The Splits

Does The Splits is a shimmery greige base with small black, red, white and gold glitters mixed in.  I used 3 thin coats for these photos.  I topped this off with She Shines! top coat.

In The Pink

In The pink

In The Pink is the girly girl shade of the collection.  With a vibrant pinky coral jelly base and small pink glitters mixed in – it screams GIRLY!  I used 3 thin coats for these photos and topped it off with She Shines!

Loves Rock n Roll

Loves Rock n Roll

Loves Rock n Roll is a tribute to Joan Jett and the Blackhearts!  This is an off white satin finish base with large black hearts floating within.  The hearts are a heavier glitter, so you might have to fish for some.  I was able to get 1 -2 out per nail within 2 coats without fishing, but be warned that you may need to either tip the bottle upside down for a bit, or fish to get a decent number of hearts out.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

I really love this polish with the glitters… but I already let the lady behind Alter Ego know that I would GLADLY buy a bottle of just the base!  It’s lovely.

Perfect Panache

Perfect Panache

Perfect Panache is a gorgeous magenta creme base with small iridescent glitters mixed in.  This gives off a gorgeous spark of color throughout the polish!  I used 3 thin coats for this mani.  The first coat did look thin and slightly streaky, but on the second coat I saw that opacity was building up and the streaks were gone.  I did a third coat for full opacity.  I topped this off with She Shines! top coat.

Well Read

Well Read

You ready for this stunner?  Well Read just has sexy written all over it.  Well Red is a classic red base with a super fine holographic shimmer throughout.  I used 3 thin coats and topped it off with She Shines! top coat which gave it a rich, squishy jelly look!

Overview

These are some stunning new additions to Alter Ego Nail Enamels shop!  I love the range of shades and finishes that she’s releasing which gives a nice set of choices.  She Shines! top coat gives a nice glossy finish and dries fairly quickly.  It isn’t as quick as Seche Vite, but it’s still a pretty decent top coat.

Price: $8.50 Each

Where To Buy: Alter Ego Etsy Shop

Keep an eye on the Alter Ego Nail Enamel Facebook Page as well! These should be releasing tomorrow (May 5th, 2014) and they will open with a 20% off special!

I really like Curses, Foiled Again with it’s pretty satin finish. I also really like Does The Splits with the bits in the milky base. It reminds me of cookies and cream.
