Salon Perfect Lacquer Basics Duo Oil Slick & Sugar Cube Swatches, Review & Nail Art

by Lisa Heath

Disclaimer

I received 4 Salon Perfect polish duos recently and tonight I am showing you the 4th set (there are more available at Walmart though!)

I have the Salon Perfect Lacquer Basics Duo to show you which is simply a black and white creme (really the 2 shades every nail enthusiast has in their arsenal!)  Plus, I decided to see how well they water marble, even if my marbling skill isn’t 100% up to par.

Oil Slick

Oil Slick

Oil Slick is a glossy black creme.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

Oil Slick CU

Sugar Cube

Sugar Cube

Sugar Cube is a crisp, pure white creme.  I used 2 coats for these photos.  The first coat did look a bit streaky, but the second coat evened it all out.

And A Little Nail Art

Water Marble 1

It’s late so I didn’t have time to do a full water marble manicure, so I did the accent nail, painted the other nails with Oil Slick and added a pretty crystal so they didn’t look as plain!  I used Sugar Cube as a white base on my ring finger and then used both Sugar Cube and Oil Slick to do a water marble.  (sorry about cleanup… it’s getting late and I’m going between nail art and getting my sons stuff together for school tomorrow!)

Overview

If you are looking for a good black and white polish for basics… Salon Perfect has you covered at a good price.  I had no application issues, and both polishes were perfect at 2 coats.

Price: $4.98 for the Duo (yes, for BOTH of these shades!)

Where To Buy: Walmart

I’ve now shown you all the duos I have (for now!) and coming soon I’ll have some fun nail art kits from Salon Perfect to show you!

Everyone needs a good black and white for nail art, and stamping! These look super glossy and pigmented. Love the watermarble – that’s something I never have succeeded with, and it’s just too messy for me to keep practicing! I commend you, and bow to your greatness for doing one – especially whilst getting your son ready for school!

I use OPI Peel off Base around my fingers and cuticles, let it dry and then marble! After I can just peel the base off my skin and then very minimal cleanup!

I’m afraid to admit I don’t have a black in my arsenal! I loved the creamy look of these two shades. The water marble accent nail was gorgeous! I would love to learn how to do it!

These look great! The white isn’t streaky, which is usually an issue with white polishes.

Wow, Sugar Cube looks like an AWESOME white even if it takes 2 coats (which is half as much as some take lol). Love your watermarble accent nails always!
