Mentality Nail Polish Restock Madness Collection Swatches and Review

by Lisa Heath

***Added 7/23/15 – please read this announcement ***

If you have purchased from Mentality from April 2015 – June 2015 and you are experiencing sensitivity, itchiness or burning, please contact Mentality directly to have your polishes replaced. Their email is [email protected]

I personally did NOT experience any reactions when using these polishes, but many did. Please know I would have been fully transparent had I known the damage that was being caused. Again, please read the announcement above and by clicking on it, you will be taken to Mentality’s initial statement regarding the issue.

Most of us have been there… a highly sought after indie is being restocked and you HAVE to get at least 1 polish from it (and by 1, I clearly mean 10).  Oh no, what’s this?  A limited edition is being released too?  Top Priority!

The time is getting closer, so you log in and set up so you should only have to click “Add To Cart” and then checkout.

5 minutes to restock, start refreshing in case it goes live earlier than planned.  Site starts running slower, apparently you weren’t the only one with this plan.  The time is finally here… and suddenly, the server crashes.

CRAP.

Refresh, refresh, refresh.  Minutes go by… panic sets in a bit.  FINALLY the site comes back up, but lookin a little wonky.  Refresh again.  IT’S UP!  But what the crap, all the polish is sold out.  How did it sell out when the site wasn’t even up?  You head to the shops Facebook page and people are declaring they snagged 5+ that they wanted.  Others are in the same position as you.  You go back hoping someone lets go of something from their cart.

SUCCESS!  Someone released, or a few more were stocked!  You click on Add To Cart and honestly don’t even know what the heck you added to your cart, all you know is you got SOMETHING.

You go through checkout, pay, complete.

The next morning you wake up to an email saying they unfortunately oversold and you have been refunded for your purchase.

This is where you fume and declare to no one in particular that you are just done with indies and restocks.  But we both know you really aren’t.

I know this has happened to me a few times, which is mainly why I found the Mentality Nail Polish Restock Madness collection so funny.  Almost every polish name reminds me of a time I went through trying to get a polish during a restock.

Server Crash

20130828-115005.jpg

Server Crash is a yellow jelly base with blue shimmer and yellow, blue, and silver micro glitter, and large cherry red glitter .  Lately this has become more and more of a problem.  I cannot count how many server crashes I’ve been through at this point.  Some I get so frustrated I just close out and do something else because it’s not worth it.

Oversold

20130828-115010.jpg

Oversold is a blue jelly base with red shimmer and light blue, red, and silver micro glitter and large green glitter.  I used 2 coats for this photo.  This is the worst email to get after a highly anticipated restock.  You got your order in and your heart rate returns to normal.  You may have even done a happy dance.  Then you get an email saying you were refunded because they oversold.  Then you give your inbox the evil eye until you feel a little better.

Understocked

20130828-115015.jpg

Understocked is an aqua jelly base with copper shimmer and  turquoise, rose, and silver micro glitter and large brown glitter.  Worst. Thing. EVER.  You want that polish SO BAD… then find out only 10 were made and about 300 people are trying to get it.

Impulse Buy

20130828-115020.jpg

Impulse Buy is a  purple jelly base with orange shimmer and  purple, orange, and silver  micro glitter and  large aqua glitter.  We’ve all done this at least once!  You spot something and buy it on a whim, and before you even get the confirmation email you regret that Impulse Buy!

Cart Jacked

20130828-115028.jpg

Cart Jacked is a fuchsia jelly with gold shimmer and hot pink, yellow, and silver micro glitter with a large purple glitter.  Most websites are trying so hard to get a proper anti cart jacking system in place.  If you are unaware, cart jacking is when you get your pretties into your cart, go to check out and suddenly your cart is empty (or near empty) and you get a fun message telling you that the other items that were in your cart have sold out and you are just out of luck.

Limited Edition

20130828-115033.jpg

Limited Edition is a red jelly base with green shimmer and cherry red, green, and silver microglitter and large gun metal grey glitter.  I’ve been fairly lucky getting Limited Editions for the most part.  A few have slipped by, but usually because of one of the other “restock” issues already listed above.  Mostly.. due to being understocked or the server crashing.

Out Of Stock

20130828-115024.jpg

Out of Stock is a green jelly base with purple shimmer and light green, purple, and silver microglitter with a large yellow glitter.  This is the dreaded message you get when you think you finally get to snag your biggest lemming.  Or after you’ve been cart jacked.

And that wraps up the Restock Madness Collection!  I only used 2 coats for all of the above photos.  They are packed with glitter and shimmer and work well on their own, or layered over a similar base color!

My Top Picks: Limited Edition, Cart Jacked, Out of Stock and Oversold.

Each polish in The Restock Madness Collection is $6.50 or you can buy the entire set for $42.00

These polishes and your swatches are great, but I have to admit the best part about this post is your commentary! I’ve dealt with all of these as well, and it is no fun at the time, but your post and the collection make it all rather funny now. Until I miss out on the next pretty that is! ;)

What a fun collection & blog post! You made me chuckle! I always stay out of the madness of restocks — that is one of the benefits of living on a super tight budget!
