Girly Bits Memorial Tribute Polishes – Roger That and Gentle Ginger

I have 2 very special polishes to show you today.  I’m going to take an snippet from the Girly Bits website to explain the special Memorial Tribute Polishes better…

Saturday, July 21st, our community was shocked, and deeply saddened by the sudden and unexplained death of a local teen, Brady Rogers. Brady and his closest friends and family were at his home celebrating his high school graduation when Brady collapsed and died.
His close knit circle of friends have been reeling ever since, searching for answers, and trying to comfort one another. Brady was larger than life in spirit, personality, and even in his 6’4 red haired, blue eyed frame. He was one of those kids who left an impression on everyone who’s path he crossed. He loved his friends and family deeply and wasn’t afraid to show it.
Brady’s friends have spent the better part of the week, creating tributes to Brady in the form of orange ribbons and posters which they painted the town with, especially along the funeral route from the funeral home, to the community center where a service for Brady was held, with a full house of 700+ people.
My daughter came to me on Monday, asking if I could create a polish, in Brady’s memory, and donate the proceeds to the Brady Rogers Memorial Bursary Fund at Kingsville District High School, which he graduated from just weeks before. I told her if she and her friends came up with a colour inspiration, and a name, I could have it done in time for them to wear to the funeral service on Wednesday.

Two polishes were created as a Memorial Tribute – Roger That and Gentle Ginger.

Roger That:

Roger That is a beautiful sparkly blue holographic polish that absolutely dazzles.  The color inspiration came from Brady’s sparkly blue eyes, Roger That was his Twitter name.  Roger That has a wonderful jelly like base that glides on easy and the linear holo sparkles in the sun, and it also has a very apparent holo with indoor lighting.  I used 3 coats.

Gentle Ginger:

Gentle Ginger was created after Roger That and was inspired by Brady’s ginger red hair and gentle nature.  Gentle Ginger is a bold coppery orange with a beautiful shimmer throughout.  Another sunlight dazzler!  When the light hits the shimmer, indoors or out, it absolutely sparkles! I used 3 coats for this mani.

Pam from Girly Bits and her daughter Mackenzie paid a visit to Brady’s parents- Mark and Susanne Rogers, and left them with 55 bottles of Roger That (which was created first), to be sold for $10 each, with 100% of the proceeds going to Brady’s Bursary. All 55 were immediately purchased, with many requests for more. Girly Bits has donated 100 bottles to the family, with 100% of the money from those sales going into the fund. Girly Bits also poured more and will continue to offer the polish on the Girly Bits site, for the retail price of $12.50, with $5.00 from every bottle sold going to Brady’s Bursary.

You can find both Gentle Ginger and Roger That HERE.

Thank you Pam, Mackenzie and all of Brady’s friends and family for creating 2 gorgeous colors as a lovely memorial tribute to a young man who was taken too soon.

Susanne Rogers August 17, 2012 - 4:40 am

My name is Susanne Rogers- I am Brady’s mom.
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for posting the polishes on your site.
The polishes are as beautiful as he was both inside and out. He really was a special person, a heart of gold and a soul of pure good. And when that boy smiled, he lit up the room. He always saw the good in people and he made sure that you knew it too. I have never met a young man who showed the compassion and love for his family and friends that Brady did. He never left the house without making sure he told me he loved me.
We are devastated and miss him terribly, and more as each day passes.
The polishes are a tribute to a sparkling personality that was taken from us to soon.

Susanne, it was my pleasure to post these on my site. I am truly sorry for your loss. Brady sounded like an incredible young man and from what you posted here, and what I have heard from Pam, ‘Incredible’ is an understatement. My thoughts are with you and your family.
