Freak Show Polish Swatches and Review

I have an indie brand on the blog today that is new to me!  Freak Show Polish has a wonderful selection of glittery creations to choose from with Circus inspired names, and she sent me 7 to swatch and review for my readers.

Before I start I do want to say that 6 of the 7 polishes I was sent are in lightly tinted bases.  I wanted you all to see the polishes as natural as possible, so I didn’t use a base color for the tinted base colors.  These are intended to be worn alone or layered over another polish if you want a squishy jelly look!  Unfortunately for me, using them in their natural state, you can see some of the slight yellowing of my nails from doing swatch after swatch.  I got a bad staining from a polish and the stains are almost grown out, but the tips still have a slight tinge of yellow.  So please note, this isn’t the polish, it is the sad state of my nails.

Ok onto the swatches!

Trapeze Swinger:

I’m going to kick this off with Trapeze Swinger because it was the only polish I had a slight issue with.  Trapeze Swinger is a very sheer milky base with periwinkle micro glitters, periwinkle hex glitters, and small silver holo hex glitters.  I used 3 coats on its own and I find it lovely.  The issue I had?  The larger periwinkle glitters have a very slight curl to them.  I used an orange stick to push the sides down a bit and I used a top coat, and it did help them.

Corde Lisse:

Corde Lisse was a favorite for me.  Corde Lisse is a sheer sky blue jelly base with blue and iridescent glitters, rectangle and bar matte white glitter.  I am anti bar glitter for the most part, but these ones laid nicely and I didn’t have any sticking out and snagging on things.  I used 3 coats for this photo.  For those who don’t know, Corde Lisse is a gravity defying rope dance in mid-air.

Tightrope Tutu:

Tightrope Tutu is a very girly polish!  Tightrope Tutu is a bubblegum pink jelly base with small turquoise, pearl and pink small hexes and slightly larger pink matte squares.  I used 3 coats for this photo.

Three Ringed Circus:

Three Ringed Circus is a sheer white milky base with small red and white hexes, medium matte white and red squares and large red and black circles.  This is really pretty!  I used 3 coats for this.  The circles glitters came out fairly easy as well.

Circus of the Sun:

The least sheer of the polishes I received!  Circus of the Sun is an almost yellow gold sheer base with gold and red small and medium hex glitters within.  I only needed 2 coats for this photo and I love how glowy it appears!

Strongman II:

Strongman II is a very sheer milky base with silver, blue and chartreuse circle glitters and royal blue hexes.  The larger silver circles are also holographic!  I used 3 coats for this photo.

Strongman I:

Strongman I is very similar to Strongman II, but this one is actually listed as a top coat instead of under “tinted” because of the base.  This was actually one of my favorites of the 7 I received!  It contains small chartreuse and blue circle glitters, larger blue and silver holographic circles and royal blue hex glitters.  I used 2 coats of Strongman I over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and I love this combo together.

Aside from Trapeze Swinger, I had no formula issues with the polishes.  If it hadn’t been for the slightly curled hexes in Trapeze Swinger this would have been a flawless set!   Again, I apologize for the tinged state of my nails!  Hopefully it will grow out soon enough.

My top picks from the 7 are Strongman I, Circus of the Sun, and Corde Lisse!

Prices on these polishes range between $9.00 and $10.00 each.

I tend to avoid light blue polishes, but Corde Lisse is beautiful! :)

Hey would you mind letting me know which hosting company you’re working with? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different web browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most. Can you suggest a good web hosting provider at a fair price? Many thanks, I appreciate it!|
