Drugstore Favorites I Keep Going Back For

by Lisa Heath

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum Shopper but all opinions are my own.

Let’s be real, sometimes the flashy packaging and pretty additions (gold flakes anyone?) to high end skin care brands pull us in and dazzle us. But they aren’t always in our budget, and they don’t always work.  I get sucked into it a lot. I always seem to go back to my tried and true holy grail items though – and they don’t break my budget. In fact, those items are easily accessible at the drugstore. Today we’re going to talk about my drugstore favorites I keep going back for over and over!

I actually have a lot of drugstore favorites, but I narrowed it down to just 3. I poured over receipts to see what I bought the most – so those are the 3 items we’re going to focus on.  There is actually a 4th item, but I don’t purchase it for myself – but I will still include a mention to it towards the end. The 4th item is for my son and he’s at that age where he needs to get into a skin care routine and I finally found a face wash he’ll use and not complain about – so it deserves a special mention!

Starting with my most purchased item – Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Healing lotion. I do a LOT of damage to my hands. I go through about 32 oz of nail polish remover per month and it’s no joke. It dries out my cuticles and the skin around my nails and I need replenishment. I found that Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Healing does the trick when repairing that damage. It’s gentle but effective, affordable and WORKS.

I easily go through 1.5 bottles of this per month. I try to stock up during sales to make it even more affordable, and I know I’ll use it – so it’s fine for me to have extra bottles in the house.

There are different variations of Vaseline’s lotion line, so find the one that works best for you. My second favorite is the Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Lotion, which I tend to use more during the warmer months. But if going by most purchased – then Essential Healing wins, hands down.

Simple Micellar Wipes! If you haven’t tried these, you should! I first tried these about 3 years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. I use them to remove my makeup at the end of the day and my skin reacts so nicely to it. On hot days at home, I will also use them to freshen up my face (especially during the Summer!)

I also use these when I’m swatching makeup on my arm (as weird as that sounds) and I can easily clean the colorful marks off without leaving my arm red and raw looking. I generally use 1 package of these per month, but during the Summer about 1.5 packages.

My third most purchased item? Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer! I have combo skin so moisturizer is a must for me! Finding the right one can be a challenge though. Most leave my skin a bit too moisturized and my makeup will slide around. Simple Replenishing Rich Moisture soaks into my skin quickly and leaves it perfectly hydrated.

I go through a bottle every month and a half.

And the special mention I spoke of before – Simple Micellar Facial Gel Wash. I initially purchased this for me to try, but my son quickly snagged it and has been using it since. He doesn’t care for face wash that tingles or (in his words) “smell funny” so this was perfect.Plus it works! I found this about 3 months ago, and I’ve repurchased twice so far.

Have you tried any of my favorites? Now is the time if you’re curious! Ponds, Simple and Vaseline Hand and Body Lotion will be BOGO 50% off! Plus, if you buy 2 you will get 2,000 points from 4/15-4/21. This is also a perfect time to stock up on your personal favorites, or try something new!

I really like those Simple facial wipes and use them myself. I always find other makeup remover to make my skin feel weird but those take off the gunk with no drama.

I like the vaseline intensive care lotion. I’ve purchased that before. It does make my skin feel pretty good. Especially doing dry times.

I need to try out some of these skincare products. I have been stuck in a routine for ages and I would love to mix it up and try some of these – bonus, I love that you found them at the drugstore!

Drug store products have come such a long way from when I was a kid. They are actually competitive brands now!

I am always needing moisturizer and lotion, so these will definitely be in my list now. I’ve not had luck with Micellar water before, but maybe it’s worth looking at again.

I love the vaseline lotion. It works great to moisturize the dryest skin and it smells great too.
