Some of you may remember the release of Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer Once More With Feeling collection back in 2013, so in a sense this is a revamped (no pun intended) restock.  The formulas have been reformulated plus 3 brand new shades and a special limited edition shade if you purchase the whole collection.

I don’t have the old versions from 2013 to compare with, so I apologize for that as I do not have a comparison but there are plenty of reviews online.

I’m a bit of a Buffy fan, and am currently rewatching the full series so when I got the email asking to review this set I was incredibly excited!

Let’s take a look at these beauties!

We Saved The World, I Say We Party!

“We Saved The World, I Say We Party!” was a quote in the Prophecy Girl episode that aired in 1997 (Season 1, Episode 12).  This is the Buffy shade of the collection.

Xander: Hey! I hear there’s a dance at the Bronze tonight. Could be fun.
Cordelia: Yeah!
Willow: Buffy?
Buffy: Sure! We saved the world. I say we party! I mean, I got all pretty.
Ms. Calendar: And what about him?
Buffy: He’s not going anywhere. Loser.
Giles: I’m not dancing, though.

This is a light pinkish silver linear holo with a strong pink flash.  I used 2 coats for these photos and a glossy top coat.

Love Makes You Do The Wacky

“Love Makes You Do The Wacky” was a quote said by Willow in the episode Some Assembly Required which also aired in 1997 (Season 2, Episode 2)

Buffy: I couldn’t believe Angel. He was acting all jealous, and he wouldn’t even admit it.
Willow: Jealous of what?
Buffy: Of Xander.
Willow: Because you did that sexy dance with him?
Buffy: Am I ever gonna live that down?
Willow: No.
Buffy: Anyway, he was being totally irrational.
Willow: Love makes you do the wacky.
Buffy: That’s the truth.

Love Makes You Do The Wacky is a light silvery purple linear holo with a strong fuchsia flash.  I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

“Dorkhead?! You Slash Me With Your Words” was said by Xander in the 1997 episode What’s My Line? Part 2 (Season 2, Episode 10)

Xander: Okay. Okay. He can only be killed when he’s in his disassembled state. Disassembled. That means when he’s broken down into his liiittle buggy parts.
Cordelia: I know what it means, dorkhead.
Xander: Dorkhead?! You slash me with your words!

Dorkhead?! You Slash Me With Your Words is a silvery light green linear holo with a strong mint flash.  I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tea Is Soothing, I Wish To Be Tense

“Tea Is Soothing, I Wish To Be Tense” was said by Giles in the 1999 Graduation Day Part 2 episode (Season 3, Episode 22)

Xander:Here’s your coffee. Brewed from the finest Colombian lighter fluid.
Giles:Horrible.
Xander:Aren’t you supposed to be drinking tea anyway?
Giles:Tea is soothing. I wish to be tense.
Xander:Okay, but your destroying a perfectly good cultural stereotype here.

Tea Is Soothing, I Wish To Be Tense is a silvery light blue linear holo with a strong icy blue flash. This polish has an ethereal glow to it that is absolutely amazing.  I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Tact is Just Saying Not True Stuff.  I’ll Pass

“Tact is Just Saying Not True Stuff.  I’ll Pass” was a quote from Cordelia in the Killed By Death episode aired in 1998 (Season 2, Episode 18)

Buffy: Maybe it wasn’t death. Maybe it was something else.
Cordelia: So this isn’t about you being afraid of hospitals ’cause your friend died and you wanna conjure up a monster that you can fight so you can save everybody and not feel so helpless?
Giles: Cordelia, have you actually ever heard of tact?
Cordelia: Tact is just not saying true stuff. I’ll pass.

I’m Going Through Some… Changes

“I’m Going Through Some… Changes” was said by Oz in the 1998 airing of the episode Phases (Season 2, Episode 15)

Oz: Willow, we’ll talk about this tomorrow. I promise.
Willow: No, damn it! We’ll talk about this now! Buffy told me that sometimes what a girl makes has to be the first move and now that I’m saying this, I’m starting to think that the written version sounded pretty good, but you know what I mean.
Oz: I know, I know, it’s me. I’m, I’m goin’ through some… changes.
Willow: Well, welcome to the world! Things happen. Don’t you think I’m going through a lot?
Oz: Not like me.
Willow: Oh, what, so now you’re special? You’re special boy… With chains and stuff. Why do you have chains and stuff?

I’m Going Through Some… Changes is a medium brown linear holo with copper glass flecks.  I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn’t Even *Have* Chainsaws

“The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn’t Even *Have* Chainsaws” was said by Angelus in the 1998 Becoming Part 2 episode (Season 2, Episode 22)

Angelus: Hi, Rupert. I wasn’t sure you were gonna wake up. You had me worried.
Giles: What do you want?
Angelus: I wanna torture you. I used to love it, and it’s been a long time. I mean, the last time I tortured somebody, they didn’t even have chainsaws. Oh, yeah. Acathla. He’s an even harder guy to wake up than you are. I mean, I performed the rituals, said all the right phrases… blood on my hand. Got nothing. Big doughnut hole for my troubles. I figure you know the ritual. You’re pretty up on these things. You could probably… tell me what I’m doing wrong. But honestly, I sorta hope you don’t… ‘Cause I really wanna torture you.

The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn’t Even *Have* Chainsaws is a black linear holo with red shimmer and midnight red microflakies. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos, but it was nearly a 1 coat polish.

I Fought for My Soul

“I Fought For My Soul” was said by Spike but not in a Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episode, he actually said it in Angel (Buffy spinoff) in the 2003 Destiny episode (Season 5, Episode 8) but he reacquired his soul back in the season 6 finale of BtVS episode Grave (Season 6, Episode 22)

Spike: Look at you, thinking you’re the big savior fighting for truth, justice, and soccer moms. But you still can’t lay flesh on a cross without smelling like bacon, can you?
Angel: Like you’re any different.
Spike: Well, that’s just it. I am, and you know it. You had a soul forced on you, as a curse, make you suffer for all the horrible things you’d done. But me, I fought for my soul. Went through the demon trials. Almost did me in a dozen times over, but I kept fighting ’cause I knew it was the right thing to do. It’s my destiny.

I Fought For My Soul is a deep blood red linear holo with gunmetal microflakies.  I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

5×5 (or five by five) is the Faith shade in the collection and also the shade that is only available if you purchase the full collection.  I won’t pull quotes for it because it’s a phrase Faith uses quite often.  Faith first appeared and used the phrase in Season 3.

There are a ton of posts asking what it means when she says it, but it was used in the context of “I’m good” or “We’re good”

5×5 is a deep grape purple linear holo with purple, pink, and turquoise glass flecks.  I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for this photo, but it was actually a 1 coat polish.

Overview

I love this collection.  The first 5 shades have a gorgeous glow to them due to the “flash” of shimmer in each one.  I had no application issues with these shades and they were all completely opaque in 2 coats, but a couple were basically 1 coat polishes.
