Essential Oils are used more and more around my house for various things.  Some I use for stomach problems, others I use for sinus, but there is one oil that is pretty much the ‘jack of all trades’ – and that’s Tea Tree Oil.

Tea tree oil is known for its topical antiseptic and anti-fungal treatment or infection-reducing benefits. It also has antibiotic properties and helps aid against ailments such as skin infections, rashes, burns, dandruff, etc.  Ever gone to get your hair cut and your scalp is a little dry?  Most salons will recommend you try a shampoo with Tea Tree Oil in it.

I prefer Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil because it’s not diluted like some others I have found out there, plus you also get a recipe book with over 50 recipes to use your Tea Tree Oil in, and some are things you never would have thought to do.

1. Keeps Your Bathroom Fresh – Tea Tree Oil can be used as all purpose cleaner.  Take an empty spray bottle and fill it with 2 tsp of tea tree oil and then the rest with water and you get a great cleaner.  Tea Tree Oil disinfects AND gives a nice, refreshing scent.  Obviously it can be used all over the house, but the bathroom usually needs it most.

2. Prevents Lice – If you have little ones in school like I do, this could be an amazing thing for you.  Add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil to your shampoo as well as your kids shampoo.  This is a quick and easy way to prevent lice naturally (and is so much better than lice killing shampoo and little combs!)

3. Naturally Cures Bad Breath – Have a slight issue with bad breath?  Swish a little water and tea tree oil around in your mouth.  It will help out a ton.

4.  Treats Acne – When applied on acne, tea tree oil helps the immune system to kill the bacteria and consequently reduce the inflammation.  If you use Tea Tree Oil in conjunction with Vitamin E Supplements, it’s like the dream team acne fighter.

5. Removes Ticks – If you deal with ticks and are tired of it, just add a little tea tree oil to your skin and the little bugger will unlatch.

I make my own cuticle oil and put a drop or two of tea tree oil in with the other oils I use to make it. lol, It has a fairly strong smell, sort of camphor or menthol?, so I tone it down by adding in almond essence oil. I like adding in the tree tea oil in case of any injury to my cuticles or help in healing a hangnail.
