Stardust Collaboration October 2020 | Horror Films

October 2020 | Horror Films

This last month is a total blur for me. There was family stuff going on back home in California, and due to the pandemic I wasn’t able to fly back home for it. I could have, but then I’d put family going into/coming out of surgery at risk, so I didn’t/wouldn’t. So I’m a little behind right now. I needed to take a few mental health days off.

Things are better. My step dad is on the mend and home resting. My mom says he’s getting back to his old, grumbling self a little more each day. While he is my step dad, he’s the man that raised me. May not be biological – but he is who I consider my father. I am loving Massachusetts, but it’s still weird not being a few blocks from my parents anymore.

Anyways, back to why you’re here. I have the Stardust Collaboration for October 2020 to share, and the theme is Horror Films!

Supernatural Lacquer is joining Ethereal Lacquer and Kathleen & Co this month, and Supernatural Lacquer picked Horror Films as the inspiration for the October box… and boy are you all in for a treat.

This trio will be available at 11am EST today (Friday) and will be available through to November 2nd.

If you need a little refresher – Stardust is all about the shimmer and multichrome and it’s a box run by Ethereal Lacquer and Kathleen & Co, and for the last couple months they have invited a guest maker to join in the fun! The box is available the final Friday of every month and preorder always last until Monday night.

I will be showing all 3 shades both glossy and matte. For all photos I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off BaseSweet & Sour Lacquer Gloss Sauce and  Anchor & Heart Lacquer Matte Top Coat.

Ready to check them out?

Ethereal Lacquer | Ghostface

Ghostface is a sheer, medium blurple jelly base loaded with violet to pink to orange shifting shimmer. I used 3 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I wasn’t expecting this to be so sheer when first applied. It does build up with the shimmer loaded in, however if you have a strong VNL, it may still be visible. It’s a beautiful shade, but I did want to let you know so you aren’t surprised when applied. I do not have a strong or opaque VNL so mine doesn’t show much on sheerer shades.

Inspired by Scream

Kathleen & Co | Knife to Meet You

Knife to Meet You is a deep navy blue creme base with strong red to gold to green shifting aurora shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspired by Halloween

Supernatural Lacquer | Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams is a deep, blue tinged, dirty olive green jelly base with magenta to gold to green mulitchrome pigment and aurora shimmer, as well as some silver holo flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This has sort of a soft and almost hazy appearance to it which made my camera not sure where to focus. The base is on the sheerer side like the Ethereal so you might see some VNL with this one as well. When built up, the shimmer does add the illusion of opacity, but if you have a stronger VNL – it might still show.

Inspired by Nightmare on Elm Street.

Stardust Collaboration October 2020 | Horror Films

So I’ve seen all of these horror movies. Do I like horror movies? Not really. I’m a chicken. I’m the one who plugs her ears and closes her eyes tight when you KNOW something is about to happen. Nick laughs at me, but I can’t help it. When whatever happens passes, Nick taps my arm so I know it’s safe to unplug my ears and open my eyes.

It is what it is. My older sister is a horror movie fanatic and would watch them all the time when we were younger, which is why I was exposed to all of these and more. I still remember when my parents left to get bird food and came home with a cat (???) and said “His name card said Gregory, but his original name was scratched out and they said they changed it because he had a ‘demonic name’…”

My sister took one look at this Russian Blue rescue and said “OMG it’s Church from Pet Sematary” and she was right. So we changed his name back to Church and… he was actually an awesome non murdery cat. After that though – we had a run of pets with horror movie themed names. A Siberian Dwarf Hamster named Hannibal (he earned that name… demonic little cotton ball), Mad Max the Iguana.. it was fun.

The birds were Bogie and Bacall by the way. Every time my parents went to get bird food they came home with a pet. We had a little menagerie going on for awhile.

Anyways – that’s my ramble for the night/early morning.

All 3 applied beautifully. 2 are sheer as indicated and rely on shimmer to build up opacity. Beautiful application though on all 3.

So sorry you couldn’t be with your family while your step-father was in the hospital. I’m glad he is doing better. Take care!
