Skin Deva Skincare Serums

Skincare Serums

When I was younger, I use to kind of ignore skin care for some silly reason. I did the basic stuff – cleanse/exfoliate and moisturize in the morning and at night, there was a 50/50 shot that I removed my makeup before falling asleep. I would lay down for “just a second” and wake up hours later. As I got older, I realized how horribly I treated my skin and tried to change my habits. I became obsessed with skincare and all the various products out there. When Skin Deva contacted me and asked if I wanted to try their serums out, I was all for it! So today, I have 3 Skin Deva Skincare Serums to share with you.

DSCN2053

I received these serums 3 months ago and have been testing each one. I’m going to break down all 3 for you individually.

I actually prefer using serums for various reasons, but when I first got one – I was a little confused as to WHAT it was. So we’ll go over that really quick.

Face serums are lightweight moisturizers that penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin. A serum won’t replace your moisturizer, but they will boost your anti-aging results and overall skin health when used morning and evening. Moisturizers typically have emollients and thickeners added which give them their creamy texture, and several have SPF. Serums don’t have SPF or the creamy texture. Instead of SPF, emollients or thickeners, serums are packed with beneficial ingredients or more antioxidants.

For some skin types (like oily skin) a serum CAN replace your moisturizer, but I do still recommend finding an SPF product to use with it.  Serums do not contain SPF and I seriously cannot stress enough how important SPF is, even on a cloudy, yucky day.

So now you know a little more about serums – the next step is finding the right one for you. As I said, serums are packed with beneficial ingredients or antioxidants to help boost your skin’s health and target specific things you want to improve. For example, hyaluronic acid helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles while Vitamin C brightens the skin and helps reduce the appearance of pigmentation and age spots.  Skin Deva has an assortment to choose from, so you can look around and see which ones match your skin best and target the problems you want to help.

Ok, onto the 3 I received!

VITAMIN C+E + FERULIC ACID SERUM

DSCN2066

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which effectively evens skin tone and fortifies skin cells. Your skin looks more supple and youthful with Vitamin C and with a 20% concentrate, you generally get quicker results. Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid are used to extend the shelf life of Vitamin C.

Vitamin E isn’t that great for oily skin, so if you have oily skin – this may not be the product for you.

Vitamin C Serum (not this brand) was the first type of serum I tried out. It’s probably the most common that you will see on the market. While this particular Skin Deva one isn’t for me (I have oily skin) I did like that the concentrate was higher. Skin Deva has other Vitamin C serums that contain other ingredients I feel might be better suited for me (like the Hyaluronic Acid with Vitamin C)

MATRIXYL SYNTHE ‘6® + HYALURONIC ACID SERUM

DSCN2064

This one I had to look up a bit before I used it. I know about Hyaluronic Acid and have used products with it in the past – but I had never heard of Matrixyl Synthe 6.

Matrixyl Synthe 6 is a concentrated tripeptide which consists of natural collagen and laminins.Hyaluronic Acid draws moisture to the skin and helps prevent moisture loss. The combination of these 2 ingredients helps reverse the signs of aging and repair any damage caused by the sun or environmental exposure.

Of the 3 serums, this was my favorite. I tested it the longest (the Vitamin C one I tested for a short time but because of my skin type, it wasn’t for me) and my skin has actually taken to it quite well. I have cut back on my moisturizer and use a much lighter one now when needed. My skin feels soft and not as itchy as it normally does when it gets hotter and drier.

100% PURE HYALURONIC ACID SERUM

DSCN2068

The final product I have to share with you is the 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid. I’ve been using this on and off at night time depending on when I felt I needed it. For the most part, the Matrixyl Synthe 6 + Hyaluronic Acid was really good for my skin and I didn’t feel the need to use 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid.

Because this is 100% Pure – it’s a lot more potent and faster acting. With regular daily use of this hyaluronic acid serum you will notice your skin appearing more youthful and firmer, since hyaluronic acid is known to create an impenetrable barrier on the surface of your skin which locks in moisture so your skin can stay healthy and hydrated.

Skin Deva Skincare Serums Overview

Skin Deva Skincare Serums

If you are interested in getting started with serums – or looking to expand, Skin Deva is a good shop to take a look at. They have several to choose from, and I like that they have different combinations of ingredients to help combat 2 or more skin issues at once.

The serums are in dropper style bottles and a little really goes a long way. I used about 4-5 drops for each application so the product usually lasts a decent amount of time for me.

Of the 3 I received, Matrixyl Synthe 6 + Hyaluronic Acid was my favorite, but after browsing through other serums Skin Deva has – I do think the Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C serum would be better suited for me.

Price: $14.99 – $29.99

I think the HA with the Matrixyl Synthe 6 would be my fave, too. I love serums for my oily skin – great way to pack in the skin-loving ingredients without all the richness of heavy moisturizers.

This isn’t a brand I was familiar with but it sounds pretty great. I love Hyaluronic Acid so either of those two would be great. The prices are excellent too.

I use and love all of the main ingredients in these serums. I am convinced that cocktailing and layering actives in the form of serums with my moisturizers is why my skin looks as well as it does. :D
