Happy Saturday! It’s been busy busy – but I have my post ready before wishlisting… so I consider that a win. I have my post for Polish Pickup for May 2022 ready – and the theme is National Parks and Landmarks!

I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect with this theme. I did expect more earthy tones and greens… but we actually have a pretty nice mix going. I will say one of my favorite things were some of the scented products – I pretty much fell in love with everything I sniffed this month.

We have done a similar theme before – back in February of 2021…World Traveling and Landmarks. Looking at that collage – it was very blue and green and of course purple.

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month, and Night Owl Lacquer’s Patience Not Required, as well as Anchor & Heart Sea Glass and Night Owl Lacquer Gone Matte. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.

I do use artificial lighting for my photos. I work during the day and weekend afternoons I’m with Nick and Jacob, so I do most swatching when the sun is setting or gone. My current setup uses GlamCor Pro LIghts and I use the Ultra X Model and this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).

For reflective polish photos – I only used my camera flash. It was taken in low light with a my camera (Nikon Coolpix L830)

For all magentic photos, I used the magnet that The Crafty Taco offered in last month’s shop. You can snag it in their shop now though if you missed out.

For Glow In The Dark polishes I used this UV flashlight to “charge” my nails for photos (affiliate link)

Wish-listing opens tomorrow (Sunday… in case I post this after midnight) so let’s get this going.

It has a great restaurant, but afterwards I was rendered speechless by the pure beauty of the Eudocimus ruber (also known as Ibis Escarlate or Red Guará). Hit The Bottle | Stick With Me & Pigment Duo

Inspiration:

Description: “Stick with Me” is a sticky white stamping polish. Designed to stay tacky, allowing you to rub pigments into it and create beautiful effects. This kit comes with 0.5 gr of yellow candy aurora pigment which I’ve named “Samantha”. Samantha is an interesting pigment. It looks yellow in the container – but when applied over white – pink, purple, and some aqua shoes thought. When used over darker colors – you will see more gold to green to teal shades

To use this set you would paint your base color and then apply a matte top coat. Once done, use the sticky polish to stamp your selected design on. Wait 20-30 seconds, then gently apply pigment to stamping with applicator.

The pigment will not stick to the matte portion of nails which makes this a bit easier. Plus this way you can use the pigment without using the method that requires your stamper (which can make it permanently cloudy)

Once done, either use a water based top coat to protect the design, then the top coat of your choice. You can also skip the water based top coat and float your top coat of choice over.

For stamping design I used the Vintage Grunge plate from Hit The Bottle. I used Stick With Me and Pigment over a variety of bases. From index to pinky I used: Hit The Bottle Superkool, Fancy Gloss Ocean, Fancy Gloss Got Milk?, and KBShimmer Total Eclipse.

Price: $15.00 | Cap: 140

Hit the Bottle Polishes | Swept Away (Stamping Polish)

A hint of watery cucumber accents the hints of sugary vanilla and coconut cream, for a refreshing scent-sation that will transition your mind and body to the tropics any time of the year.

You know those peach gummy rings? If they made a mango version – that was the first thing I thought this smelled like. It’s delicious smelling and makes me want gummies! To my nose… on dry sniff this smells like a watered down vicks vapor rub. I don’t know why – it just does. When melting, my nose picks up vanilla, fir needle and leather the most. Those notes seem to stand out more and this is an oddly comforting wax melt. It reminds me of my grandfather’s place after my grandma passed on and her perfume was just… no longer lingering. Unicorn Magic Skincare | Deluxe Vegan Cuticle Balm

Inspiration: Inspired by Serrania de Chiribiquete National Park in the Colombian Amazon (the world’s
largest national park protecting a tropical rainforest.)

Description: Deluxe Vegan Cuticle Balm is a creamy and nourishing balm made with unrefined organic shea butter, skin loving oils and kosher non GMO soy wax. This is an intensive cuticle treatment and one I’ve been using for months in various scents. It’s incredible.

May’s scent is Rainforest Sugarcane, and it’s a mix of fresh lime, raw sugarcane, dewy citrus with lush greens. A fresh and uplifting scent. The fresh lime is the top scent my nose picks up and the raw sugarcane helps mellow the scent a touch and give it a sweeter, less tart vibe.

Price: $7.00 | Cap: 200

Vapid Wax | Hatteras

Inspiration: Inspired by Cape Hatteras

Description: Hatteras is a scent blend of salty sea spray, earthy musk, driftwood with hints of seaweed and greenery, lightly covered in morning dew.

This is a very clean, ocean scent. Almost like salty sea air meets laundry room – which is kind of weird, but not. It’s soothing and a good “company is coming over” type wax melt.

Price: $6.00 | Cap: 115

Vibrant Vinyls | Double Bond Sticky Ridge Filling Base Coat

Inspiration: Inspired by Parks & Recreation

Description: Double Bond is a ridge filling base coat and sticky base coat in 1. Best of both worlds. I also sometimes like wearing it alone cause it gives a healthy, sheer, milky look to the nails.

Treat yo’ self to an island cocktail that blends juicy orange, sweet coconut, tangy pineapple, lemon, acai berry, maraschino cherry and a hint of vanilla rum.

To my nose this is a nice tropical scent and the orange and coconut are the front runners for strongest scent. All of the scents play really nicely off each other and it’s a nice, bright, fruity scent for sure.

Price: $8.00 | Cap: None

Vibrant Vinyls | Fast & Hard Scented Quick Dry Top Coat

Inspiration: Inspired by Parks & Recreation

Description: Fast & Hard is a super glossy quick dry top coat that can be applied over wet polish without issue. It also works over stamping, just make sure you float the top coat!

What Addiction? | Petrified Blue Mesa

Inspiration: Inspired by Petrified Forest National Park

Description: Petrified Blue Mesa is a warm purple tinted jelly base filled with a variety of crystal flakes, holo micro glitters and blue shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Price: $13.00 | Cap: 150
