Fighting The Fall Frizzies

It’s finally Fall! The crisp smell in the air, decorations for the upcoming holidays being displayed, invitations for parties and get togethers coming through… and your hair decides to become a frizzy mess.

What causes frizzy hair? That untamed frizz occurs when the cuticle layer of your hair is raised, allowing moisture to pass through and swell the strands. So instead of smooth and refined, you have dry and frizzy.  A lot of people just chalk it up to being “that time of year” and resort to pulling their hair up in messy buns to tame it, but I have some easy steps to help fight the frizz this Fall.

  1. Drink More Water – Probably the #1 reason hair becomes dehydrated, and something I was guilty of for a long time. There is a link between the water you consume and the hydration of your hair, skin and nails.

2.  Skip a Day Washing Your Hair – You don’t need to wash your hair daily. When you wash daily, especially if your hair is already dry, it will strip your hair of natural oils and cause it to feel dry and brittle.  Instead, skip a day and brush your hair every few hours to redistribute the natural oils your hair already produces.

3. Select a Shampoo & Conditioner that Combats Dry or Damaged Hair – Growing up I always bought whatever shampoo and conditioner were on sale rather than buying ones with ingredients my hair type needed.  Suave Avocado + Oil Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner contains 100% natural avocado and olive oil, which is rich in emollients and helps my hair stay moisturized, soft and smooth. It also protects from frizz, even in up to 95% humidity.

4.  Leave In Conditioner – Another thing I usually skipped growing up was a leave in conditioner. I didn’t see the need if I already used a shampoo and conditioner, so it was an unnecessary step. I was wrong. Leave in conditioners make detangling easier and help tame frizz.

5. Use Lotion – If you’re hair decides to frizz halfway through the day, apply a little lotion to your hands, rub your hands together and then smooth your hair. You won’t need a ton, just enough to add some weight to your hair and calm it down. This isn’t a solution, but it is a quick fix.

If you are a member of Sam’s Club, you can pick up most of these essentials to keep your hair from frizzing. We always keep bottled water, shampoo and conditioner, leave in conditioner and other essentials in our home. In a rush? Beat the lines by using  Sam’s Club Scan & Go App, or utilize their Club Pickup for all your shopping needs.

My favorite is the Scan & Go feature. As I add products into my cart, I scan them on the Scan & Go App. When I’m done, I head to the front, checkout on my phone and pay on my phone. Once I was done, I hit “Checkout” on the app – paid for my entire purchase from my phone and I was done! All I had to do was hold my phone out when leaving! The Sam’s Club employee at the door scanned my app bar code and I was off to go about my day. I walked past the lines and was done!

I have an easy shopping experience, and my hair combats frizz this Fall. Makes routine easier and saves time in my daily life.
