Under The Sea Collection

Good morning and happy Monday! I had a nice little break while settling in here and now I’m ready to get some posting done! I have a ton to share over the next couple weeks – but today we’re going to be looking at the Ethereal Lacquer Under The Sea Collection!

These are basically sister polishes to the beloved Under The Sea creation Meagan created for Polish Pickup in November of 2019.

For this set, my photo lighting is a bit darker. When I used brighter lighting it washed everything out. So the polishes themselves in some instances are quite a bit lighter with the base, but the shimmer is dazzling.

Let’s jump in and take a look!

Ethereal Lacquer | Luna Laguna

Luna Laguna is a sheer, soft lilac base with red to copper to green shifting shimmer. While it does fall on the sheer side, the shimmer content builds the illusion of opacity nicely. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Ethereal Lacquer | Oceanic

Oceanic is a semi sheer, pastel ocean blue-green jelly base loaded with red to copper to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

In person, the base is a paler shade, but lighting kicked it up a bit. It’s also described as an ocean blue-green, but on me it leaned more into green territory.

Ethereal Lacquer | Popsicle

Popsicle is a semi sheer, pink tinged orange sherbet jelly base loaded with red to copper to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Ethereal Lacquer | Shell Phone

Shell Phone is a semi sheer, pastel, cool toned candy pink jelly base with red to copper to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

All 4 of these shades are a bit lighter in person. The mixture of needing to dim the lighting a bit to avoid washing the colors out as well as the artificial lighting hitting the shimmer made the polishes seem a bit darker than they are.

If you were a fan of Under the Sea then you will love these shades. I think Oceanic is my top pick of the 4, which surprised me since I was sure it would be Luna Laguna.

All 4 shades have a semi sheer base that builds up, but the shimmer content in each one helps give the illusion of opacity to the polish itself. The shift is strong in each one and beautifully done. Minor brushstrokes are visible upon application for each one, but that’s also shimmer content.
