Initially I was going to split this post up into two posts, but since release is tomorrow, I am putting all 10 polishes in one glorious post. Tonight I have the Contrary Polish Cotton Candy Mattes Collection & Sueded Summer Collection!
All 10 of these shades have a shimmery matte finish (or suede like) and I will show them both matte as well as glossy. I personally love them matte but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. The top coat down make the shimmer pop though!
Let’s jump right in, I’ll split them by collections.
Contrary Polish Cotton Candy Mattes
The Contrary Polish Cotton Candy Mattes are for Spring and they have a nice Spring vibe to them! Lighter, vibrant colors!
For each set of photos I will show 3-4 photos in a matte finish, and then another 3 with top coat added!
Pink Vanilla
Pink Vanilla is a cotton candy pink matte base with gold shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Green Apple
Green Apple is a mint green matte base with gold shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Blue Raspberry
Blue Raspberry is a vibrant turquoise blue matte base with green shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Grape
Grape is a light greyed out lavender with silver shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Contrary Polish Sueded Summer Collection
Sueded Summer consists of 6 deeper shades. It’s also kind of split into 2 sections since Carrie wanted to have more covered in one released! 3 are neutrals and 3 are vivids (bet you can tell which are which without me telling you!)
Let’s take a look, first we’ll see the Neutrals, then the Vivids!
Wild Grass
Wild Grass is a greyed out olive green matte base with gold shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Sandstone
Sandstone is a light peachy nude matte base with pink to turquoise color shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Mud Pie
Mud Pie is a warm milk chocolate matte base with bright green shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Dragonfly
Dragonfly is a vivid blue matte base with bright turquoise shimmer mixed in. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Hummingbird
Hummingbird is a vivid red toned purple matte base with copper shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Dahlia
Dahlia is a deep vivid red matte base with bright blue to pink color shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for the first photos, and added glossy for the last few.
Contrary Polish Cotton Candy Mattes Collection & Sueded Summer Collection Overview
Ok first let’s talk about formula! All 10 of these have a sheerer formula, which is why I needed 3 thin coats for these photos. Now, while the formula was sheerer, it built up nicely and it applied buttery smooth. They don’t dry immediately, so you have time to apply evenly without being in a rush. Each coat dries within about a minute of applying. They are very smooth and easy to work with, and since they dry matte – doing 3 thin coats actually doesn’t take much longer than most polishes in 2 coats.
