It’s that time again and I have 42 incredible products from the August 2018 Polish Pickup to share with you!

You might notice that there are fewer non polish products in Polish Pickup now, and that’s because Indie Pickup is now a thing! I will have more on that soon since I’m the Indie Pickup Blogger of the Month this month (yes, I’ve been super busy!)

The theme this month is Musicals! As always, the theme is open to interpretation by the makers to make it a little more interesting!

Okay, let’s get into what you came here for. You know the drill…

Before I get into this, we’re going to talk about this new Facebook group and I’m going to describe it’s concept. The group is Polish Pickup. Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. It’s NOT a box though. I think when it formed that was the major misconception of it.

Now, I love polish boxes, however, some purchasers shared their frustration in only wanting 1 or 2 polishes from a box and needing to unload the polishes in the box they didn’t want. So essentially they were paying $40 and up for 1 or 2 polishes and hoping they could sell the polishes they weren’t interested in.

Polish Pickup is different. While the concept of picking themes and voting isn’t new, instead of buying the whole box, you can shop online for JUST the single polishes you want. There can be many indie makers involved with the theme, but you only have to pay for the exact polishes you wanted rather than 4-8 polishes you may not have been interested in.

Then every month the theme and makers change and you get a whole new set of polishes to pick and choose from. So while it has a box like feel (with the voting and themes) it doesn’t carry the box commitment.

This set of polishes will be available from August 3rd at 11am EST through August 6th at 11:59pm EST.

Description: Where Night Is Blind is a cobalt blue with rainbow crystal chameleon flakes, green to blue to violet flakes, blue to purple to red flakes, blue to green shifting shimmer and violet to gold shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Description: Dance Like No One Is Watching is a coppery brown base with a sprinkling of rose gold, black, pink and green micro glitters. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

B Polished | Jellicle Queens

Inspiration: Cats

Description: Jellicle Queens is a red-orange mulitchrome magnetic polish with gold to pink color shifting magnetic effect. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I used B Polished’s new magnet for my mani. The magnet is a new style B Polished calls the “bling ring”. It features 2 magnets (a small triangle and a ring). The triangle magnet will provide different styles based on which side you use, the large flat side will create an ‘X’ pattern, the small triangle will create a circle, the edges create lines and the ring creates a curved line.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer | It’s Good

Description: It’s Good is a bright orange leaning red creme with fine green shimmer and larger particle green to purple shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

My photos look more neon than the polish is. I have cool toned skin and warm toned orangey reds look bright on me most of the time.

Cuticula | Snozzberries Silk Base Coat

Inspiration: Willy Wonka

Description: Silk Base Coat is a long lasting base coat that can be worn alone or under polish.  This month’s scent is Snozzberries and to me it smells like tart, almost sour (the good sour, not the ‘its gone bad’ type sour) berries.

I actually use this base coat often with my manicures and it does last quite awhile on me (usually 6-8 days) without chips.

Inspiration: Willy Wonka

Description: Timeless Top Coat is a 5 Free top coat that dries in a decent amount of time, but it is NOT a quick dry. The scent in the Timeless Top coat matches the Silk Base Coat shown above, but the top coat is scented a little more. When used together (base and top coat) you will get a longer lasting scented mani. This month’s scent is Snozzberries and to me it smells like tart, almost sour (the good sour, not the ‘its gone bad’ type sour) berries.

Description: Love On The Bayou is a bright blue crelly base loaded with crystal flakes, shimmer and micro shifting glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat. The flakes and shimmer flash shades of pink, aqua, gold and blue.

Description: Colors Of The Wind is a deep, rich purple base loaded with unicorn pigment and color shifting flakes that shift fuchsia to purple. This is a magnetic, so when the magnet is used it draws out a purple to coppery magnetic effect. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. The first set will show the polish without the magnet, second set shows with the magnet.

Description: Laughing At Clouds is a blackened teal shimmer base with purple flashes. This can be used as a deep shimmery teal alone, or you can use a magnet to bring out teal to purple designs. Each bottle will come with a little baggy of purple glitter umbrellas too! I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The brush that comes with this is wide, and I found that it grabbed a lot of polish, so I do recommend wiping off as much polish as possible (especially for those with smaller nails)

Description: This is a thick body lotion that soaks in quickly and a little goes a long way! The Cafe Musain is scented like a french vanilla cappuccino and it honestly smells just like it!

It’s been hot here, so I didn’t need a heat source to shift this time, but it is possible for the “warm” color to lighten more if it’s hotter.

Description: Walking Work Of Art is a vibrant sky blue base with scattered shifting shimmer, scattered holo shimmer and ultrachrome chameleon flakes  in 2 different color shifting combos. I used 3  thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

My camera picked up a tad more vibrancy in this blue, so it is a little more toned down in person.

August 2018 Polish Pickup | Musicals

Whew! There’s all 42 products I was sent this month! I was actually sent 44, but someone with my same name in Arizona was sent my pack for one brand, so she’s enjoying an early preview of that maker’s 2 items.

I had no application issues with any of these polishes and I’m loving the mix of color. Usually in a given month you can tell my my collage that there is a color favored (usually purple..) but this month seems to be a much more even mix.
