It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s PPUween! Today we’re going to take a look at what goodies I received for the Polish Pickup September 2025 shop!
We have 54 items to check out this month, so it’s a pretty good sized month!

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used a clear latex peel off base, and for the glossy photos I did Monarch Lacquer Hi-Def Shine Top coat (sent as PR and I’ve also purchased.. and that’s an affiliate link). For all textured polishes, I did use Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (PR) and Monarch Lacquer top coat over it.
For my lighting setup, since I use artificial lighting due to my day job, involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
And lastly – I do use artificial gel nails that I do myself at home. In this post (and video) I am using Apres Gel X Nails in Extra Short Stiletto, which are clear nails. I do not use blurring base coats or anything to increase opacity of the nails – and it shows during my YouTube videos especially. With the clear nails, if you can see through the tip still – then odds are you will also see VNL through the polish I have on. If you cannot see through them, then opacity was likely reached.
For my camera, I use a Nikon z30 which is still semi new to me so some kinks are still being worked out. If I see any discrepancies in real life and my photos – I will mention it.

1422 Designs | Murderous Intent
Inspiration: Inspired by the Dogman – a Michigan legend of a half-dog, half-man who roams the woods in the northern part of the state, howling and instilling fear in anyone who can hear it.
Description: Murderous Intent is a blood red jelly base loaded with red to orange to gold to green shifting shimmer and black flakes.
I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
In person the red is a bit softer.

Alchemy Lacquers | Poison Garden
Inspiration: Poison Garden was inspired by the Alnwick Gardens in England.

BCB Lacquers | The Jackal
Inspiration: Inspired by the movie Thirteen Ghosts
Description: The Jackal is a solar polish that shifts a murky green indoors and it can go to a deep brownish purple under UV light, but in direct sunlight it goes more reddish brown, plus it has red to orange to gold shifting shimmer.
I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
please note that direct sunlight will best show the solar properties. Some topcoats, car and home windows have UV blocking properties

Beaux Rêves Lacquer | Double, Double Toil and Trouble
Inspiration: a bubbling witches cauldron
Description: Double, Double Toil and Trouble is a blackened teal jelly base with strong violet purple shimmer and holo sparkle.
I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
At 3 coats you can’t really see the blackened teal base at all. The shimmer overtakes it almost entirely. You can stop at 2 coats, or use a plain teal jelly base and then 2 coats of Double Double Toil and Trouble for a tiny bit more of the base to come through instead.

Inspiration: Inspired by requests for a VNL blurring, peel off base coat.
Description: Rose Ash Undies is a water based peel off base coat with the same type of formula as Keepin’ It Peel, but it’s tinted in a dusty blush rose.
I used 2 thin coats over clear gel x nails, and the final photo shows it used under a sheerer shimmer shade (Royla Lee’s Echoes of the Stars – previous PR)
The maker did say she would be tinting this a bit more to make it more opaque, however the formula would remain the same as what swatchers received. (I received this for August’s PPU, but kept it in for September since it was coming back. I have the initial bottle, not the reformulated)

KBShimmer | Apple Honey Cider Hand & Body Scrub
Inspiration:
Description: KBShimmer’s sugar scrubs are good for all over the body or as a hand scrub, the sugar particles are medium grit so they do a good job getting dry spots on your body situated.
To Use: Scoop out the desired amount. Rub in a circular motion to exfoliate, then rinse with warm water. Use caution when exiting the tub, as floors may be slippery. Not for internal consumption. For best results, avoid introducing water into the jar and use within 24 months. Storing the product in the shower may reduce its shelf life. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

It’s actually a touch lighter in the bottle in person. The bottle looks lighter orange, but on the nail the color is a slightly deeper orange.

My bottle had sunken black flakes and I was only able to pull some out for the photos after leaving the bottle upside down for several hours. I did email the maker but hadn’t heard back yet

Penelope Luz | Vampire’s Blood
Inspiration: Inspired by the bloodlust of vampires
Description: Vampire’s Blood is a medium-dark red base with pinkish magnetic pigment.
On application, this is a mediumish red, but as it dries down it goes to an almost pink mauve (see the last photo) and then when top coat is applied, it goes to a more vibrant red tone. I also attempted to use a water based top coat, matte top coat and a few other items I had to see if I could hold the pinker “non top coat” color, but they all transitioned to the more vibrant tone.

Oh My Gourd – white pumpkin mixed with spicey notes of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon,
toasted pecans, buttery cake and smooth creme brulee frosting.
This is a warm scent perfect for fall. It’s not too strong and has a nicely balanced pumpkin to spice ratio. I am not a big pumpkin scent fan, but this I can use because it’s evenly paired and not strong pumpkin.

Description: Graveyard Fog is a cool toned purple jelly base loaded with bright blue shimmer and black flakes.
I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.

Inspiration:
Description: Flutterpupper is a subtle black to clear thermal with black flakies, green-blue glass flakies, and neon purple-orange glitters.
I used 2 thin coats, glitter smoother and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
I only did 2 coats for this one because at 3 the black flakes made it incredibly hard to see the thermal transition.
