I’m honestly a little shocked at how early I’m posting this. I do still have a few polishes on the way (I literally got a shipping notice 15 minutes ago for one) so when they arrive – I’ll add them in. BUT… we’re going to be taking an early (for me) look at the Polish Pickup October 2022 shop… and the theme is Sidekicks!
This wasn’t openly said so I wouldn’t ruin my flow – but for 2022, every time theme nominations were told to admins/mods and the vote was about to go up – I correctly predicted every single winning theme this year. Whether I wanted that theme or not… I correctly predicted it. Some makers were even PM’ing me as soon as vote went up to ask “Which theme will win so I can get a jump start on mixing protos?” and … I never steered them wrong. Not saying this will continue into 2023 – but for 2022… I did well.
For the Polish Pickup October 2022 Sidekicks theme I have 55 items so far, but as I mentioned a few are still on the way.
For the magnet I use within this post – this is a magnet that will be coming to the Polish Pickup shop very soon and I was giving it a test drive.
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Sweet & Sour Lacquer and Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month. For matte photos I used Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat, which she generously gifted me 2 bottles of last month due to the amount of matte top coat I go through each month. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.
My lighting set up was changed 2 weeks ago. Sorry for the weird glare, especially on macros. Due to the quick change I didn’t have time to mess with them too much or I would fall behind. Toyia of a_painted_queen and I were chatting and she mentioned a lamp she was trying out, and I bought one… loved it and bought another one. The new lamps give a much truer to color photo but I need to reposition. So now, since I use artificial lighting due to my day job, my new set up involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).

This is like a bath bomb for your hands or feet! Simply drop the fizzy skull into warm water, soak your hands or feet for 5-10 minutes to give a nice nourishing boost. Due to oils and such this can make surfaces slippery – so be careful when walking after.
Scented in a sweet watermelon bubble gum and hand painted to match Battle Cat.

Black Dahlia Lacquer | Gimme Shelter: An Ode To Merry Clayton (Reflective)
Inspiration: Responsible for the searing background vocals that made the Rolling Stones’ song Gimme Shelter a megahit, Clayton had a storied career backing artists including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley and Barbara Streisand to name a few. She went on to become a successful Grammy-nominated soul and gospel singer and actress in her own right.

Due to the amount of reflective glitters loaded in, this polish is a little on the thicker side but still easy to apply.

Glisten & Glow | Glitter Grabber
Inspiration:
Description: Glitter Grabber gets applied after any glitter or flakie dense manicure is done and it’s fully dry and before your top coat. It aids in creating a smoother surface for your top coat or matte top coat all while “grabbing” that extra texture.
It works by filling in all the nooks and crannies without “sinking” in like top coat usually does.
Apply a coat of this and then top coat over it for a smooth finish.

Red Eyed Lacquer | Da Balm-er in The Alchemist’s Favorite
Inspiration: Rebecca Schachter of Alchemy Lacquers
Description: Da Balm-er is a cross between a balm and body butter. It’s creamy like a body butter but has a more emollient feel like a balm would. It’s an intensive treatment you can use anywhere (I love it on cuticles of course) but a little goes a long way. If you use too much – it will feel very oily (like a balm would) so start with a little and build up if you need more.
The October scent is LEMON BARS! I love Lemon Bars so when I red that… I was so excited. My nose picks up a gentle lemon scent with buttery, doughy crust. YUM.

The Soapy Chef | Two Left Feet Foot Scrub
Inspiration: Inspired by my favorite sidekick, Gerry Fleck from one of my favorite movies, Best in Show.
Description: This is a decadent cream-based foot scrub. In honor of Gerry’s wife, Cookie, it smells just like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. It exfoliates and moisturizes at the same time. It is chock-full of multi-colored jojoba wax beads and ground pumice stone, which are all natural and biodegradable. It is gentle enough to be used all over the body, not just on the feet. It can be used daily and works on all skin types.
The scent really is dead on chocolate chip cookie with heavy emphasis on chocolate.

Vibrant Vinyls | Double Bond Base Coat
Inspiration: The cowardly lion from The Wizard of Oz
Description: Double Bond is a ridge filling base coat and sticky base coat in 1. Best of both worlds. I also sometimes like wearing it alone cause it gives a healthy, sheer, milky look to the nails.
‘Courage’ – Straight out of the Emerald City, this courageous Autumn scent combines notes of orange peels, apples, and lemons; followed by middle notes of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg; well-rounded with base notes of cinnamon bark and woods.
My nose picks up a light apple scent with a touch of citrus and clove. It’s not a super strong scent and the cinnamon isn’t detected by me much, but it’s a nice, light Fall scent.

Vibrant Vinyls | Fast & Hard Quick Dry Top Coat
Inspiration: The cowardly lion from The Wizard of Oz
Description: Fast & Hard is a super glossy quick dry top coat that can be applied over wet polish without issue. It also works over stamping, just make sure you float the top coat!

My nose picks up a light apple scent with a touch of citrus and clove. It’s not a super strong scent and the cinnamon isn’t detected by me much, but it’s a nice, light Fall scent.

I’ve been getting into the sheer polishes that glow in the sun, like the Dior Nail Glow, and I see that Night Owl Lacquer has a top coat called Moon Glow which appears to do that. I am wondering if it uses the same fluorescent ingredient.
