Polish Pickup October 2019 | Urban Legends

by Lisa Heath

Press Sample of the Polish Pickup
October 2019 | Urban Legends

It’s that time again – and this has been one of those weeks! I had 22 polishes left to finish Polish Pickup… and my SD card died on me and I lost 70 sets of photos, including those final 22 Polish Pickup shades. So yesterday and this morning I was rushing to get it finished… so this is a little later than most months.

This afternoon (after I finished the photos for the second time) I took Jacob out for the afternoon and relaxed a bit. After the loss of photos, I needed a little mental break. I still have catching up to do for the remaining photos, but I’m getting there. I’ve redone 46 of the 70 polishes I lost.

Anyways, right now we’re going to take a look at the Polish Pickup October 2019 Urban Legends!

I have exactly 100 of this months offerings!

The theme this month is Urban Legends and it’s a good one. So many Urban Legends to pick from, and I even got an item inspired by ME!

This is an EXTREMELY photo heavy post. As of right now it’s 100 items with 3-7 photos PER item. If there is something specific you are looking for – on desktop hit CTRL + F and type what you are searching for. Otherwise, enjoy the long scroll down the page, and of course the giveaway at the end.

Price: $12.00 | Cap: 80 Bottles

Alter Ego | Bozho Lake Mendota Serpent

Inspiration: “Since I live in WI I went looking for something that is native to the area. Not very much but I did find Bohzo, the Lake Mendota Serpent. Bozho, whose name is a shortened version of either the Potawatomi word “Manabozho” or the Algonquin word “Winnebozho”, was first reported in the late 1860’s by a couple canoeing out on the lake. Early sightings describe Bohzo was blackish green with silvery scales. There are no photos, just these eye witness descriptions. Sightings would continue to be reported until the 1940s then stopped. Lake Mendota is known as the “most studied lake in the United States”, if Bozho was still there it certainly would have been seen at some point.

Description: Bozho Lake Mendota Serpent is a blackened green jelly base with scattered holo. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Price: $9.00 | No Cap

Description: Iron Anchor is a scented strengthening base coat formulated with garlic extract to combat peeling, weak, and brittle nails. Use as a base coat under your favorite nail polish, or as a rehab treatment by applying 2-3 times a week for 2-3 weeks. I did do a wear test on this top coat when it was first released in the Anchor & Heart Lacquer shop which you can see HERE.

For acetone additives, you add a vial (or half… depending on preference) to 8-12 oz of polish remover. Most add it to acetone remover, but I actually add it to my purple remover which has added benefits already and this gives it a boost. You don’t have to only use acetone remover with it.

The evidence is left in otherworldly hand prints on the back of the car of anyone brave enough to put their lives in the hands of the children lost there in a train accident many years ago. The story is based on a fictional bus/train collision but a real optical illusion where you appeared to be on flat ground but were actually on a slight slope and your car would roll forward off the tracks when left in neutral. The hand prints that appeared in baby powder left on the trunk, were actually prints that were already there that showed through the powder. It was a really creepy illusion all together and fooled a lot of people, it was a big thing to take out of town visitors to see it. Unfortunately they recently regraded the crossing and your car no longer rolls off the tracks, but it lives on in local lore, and now through this polish.”

Lemming Lacquer | Woman In White

Inspiration: Inspired by the Woman in White, hitchhiking apparitions that have been sighted all over the world.

Usually the story goes that a young man is driving on a lonely road late at night when he sees a woman wearing a white dress on the side of the road. He offers her a ride, it turns out she doesn’t live far from here and it’s on his way. She gets into the backseat of the car and despite the young man’s attempts to talk to her, she doesn’t say much except her address, maybe her name and that she’s going home.

The house he arrives at is obviously abandoned and in shambles; no one lives there. He turns around to ask about the address again but the woman has disappeared without making a sound. Later he finds out a young woman died on that road and it’s her ghost trying to finally go home.

Literary Lacquers | This Dish is Cheap Yet Tasty

Wow, every month I am surprised that you can get this many polishes swatched! Thank you for all that you do, you always make my bank account scream a little bit! ;p

I forgot to add which polish I am most excited for!! This is such a hard month…I guess Dreamland Lacquer’s? Or maybe Pahlishes? Ugh, so hard to choose!
