Polish Pickup March 2023 | Rainy Days

Happy Saturday! It’s probably going to be Sunday by the time I hit publish – but oh well. This month snuck up on me since it’s such a short month – but I currently have my post and YouTube video done for the Polish Pickup March 2023 shop, and this month the theme is Rainy Days!
This month I have 50 items (I am still missing 2 I think, hopefully I can add them in on Monday) and all 50 of the items currently in my possession are also in my YouTube video below, so be sure to take a look to see them all applied or demonstrated (for the non polish items)
For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Sweet & Sour Lacquer and Vibrant Vinyls (I purchased Sweet & Sour Lacquer, Vibrant Vinyls was sent as PR this month.) For all textured polishes, I did use Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (PR) and for matte photos I used Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sea Glass (purchased by me, but I do swatch for the maker)
For my lighting set up I use artificial lighting due to my day job, my set up involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).

Inspiration: This polish is inspired by snow forecasts that we get for the Philadelphia region that predict snow, but it never snows, it only ever rains. The city sits on a line and most of the time, both the northwest and southeast get snow, but the city gets rain. Sometimes we get snow, sometimes, but mostly we get rain.
Description: It Only Ever Rains is a bright purply jelly base with pink to orange to gold to green shifting flakes and scattered holographic shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspiration: Inspired by A late night walkabout on a rainy night in the city.
Description: Downtown Drizzle is a clear based scattered holographic with black shreds, purple and blue iridescent flakes, metallic purple micro flakes, iridescent pink micro glitter and platinum silver flakes. I used 3 thin coats, a glitter smoothing topper and top coat for these photos.
Due to the clear base – you can also use this as a topper, but it will take multiple coats or sponge application to reach full opacity.

Inspiration: Inspired by Purple Rain, Purple Rain… This is the song written by Prince. An artist who left us so many precious songs. This polish is to honor his work, specially the song that has a powerful message of being with the ones you love until the end.
The power ballad helped cement Prince as the Man in Purple, too. And it combines elements of rock, R&B, and gospel music.

GLISTEN & GLOW | GLITTER GRABBER
Inspiration:
Description: Glitter Grabber gets applied after any glitter or flakie dense manicure is done and it’s fully dry and before your top coat. It aids in creating a smoother surface for your top coat or matte top coat all while “grabbing” that extra texture.
It works by filling in all the nooks and crannies without “sinking” in like top coat usually does.
Apply a coat of this and then top coat over it for a smooth finish.

The sides are a silver holo vinyl material while the lightening print is cotton. It’s larger sized and the final 2 images shows a bottle of polish as well as an iPhone 12 Pro with it for size comparison.

KBSHIMMER | JASMINE & PATCHOULI SUGAR SCRUB
Inspiration: Inspired by Freshly turned earth and blooming gardens
Description: KBShimmer’s sugar scrubs are good for all over the body or as a hand scrub, the sugar particles are medium grit so they do a good job getting dry spots on your body situated.
Jasmine & Patchouli Hand & Body Scrub echoes rainy days, the warm earth, and fresh flowers. This earthy scent starts with notes of soft musk and patchouli. Sweet vanilla sugar and blooming jasmine help round out this heady scent. Featuring a creamy base accented with yellow and lime swirls, this scrub can be used daily to help keep your skin soft and fragrant.
To my nose this is a very nice and slightly sweetened floral. It doesn’t have that cloying floral scent, but it smells like a fresh jasmine. I’m personally not a patchouli fan, but the mix of it with Jasmine (which I love) and vanilla sugar helps lessen the scent for me.

Inspiration: We were inspired the endless rain from November to May in the PNW.
Description: ManMade by J&S is based in the PNW and they know ALL about rainy days and rainy nights, and they are a little Salty about it! The fun and sassy print was inspired by their saltiness at how long the rainy season can last!
The Salty Wallet is made of faux leather with a magnetic snap. The inside is made up of 6 card slots in alternating coordinating colors and 2 slip pockets. On the back there is a zipper pocket with rainbow hardware. This is a soft side wallet with plenty of features for cards, cash, coins and even your check book but still maintains a slim profile.

RED EYED LACQUER | CITRUS SPRINKLE DA BALM-ER
Inspiration: Inspired by Rain on Citrus Fruit
Description: Da Balm-er is a cross between a balm and body butter. It’s creamy like a body butter but has a more emollient feel like a balm would. It’s an intensive treatment you can use anywhere (I love it on cuticles of course) but a little goes a long way. If you use too much – it will feel very oily (like a balm would) so start with a little and build up if you need more.
Citrus Sprinkle is a custom blend of yuzu and coconut rice milk.
To my nose this is a nice neutral scent with just a slight hint of sweetness.

SWEET HEART POLISH | SUMMER NIGHTS IN SEOUL
Inspiration: Inspired by Summer Nights in Seoul was inspired by the bright neon lights and summer rain storms in Seoul.

UNICORN MAGIC SKINCARE | DELUXE COCONUT MILK HAND CREME
Inspiration: Inspired by Comfort food eaten on cold rainy days
Description: Milk has been used in beauty routines since ancient times, it is high in lactic acid that aids to remove dead skin cells, for soft and supple skin. Coconut milk is also packed full of vitamins and antioxidants, especially vitamin C, which is known to brighten skin and increase elasticity. Along with quality skin loving oils and butters, this makes coconut milk the perfect option to include in a creamy coconut milk hand creme. This creme has a more fluid consistency than the Unicorn Magic Skincare Deluxe Triple Butter Hand Lotion, but is still rich, nourishing and moisturizing.
This month’s scent is Black Raspberry Vanilla and it is a perfectly balanced aroma of sweet, dark berries with velvety vanilla. Top notes of black cherry that give way to a heart of raspberry, strawberry, and plum, with base notes of vanilla sugar.
This is a really nice scent. It’s heavier on the raspberry so it has that nice, sweet and slightly tart berry scent then a softer vanilla. It’s delicious smelling.

VIBRANT VINYLS | MONSOON SEASON SCENTED DOUBLE BOND BASE COAT
Inspiration: Inspired by Rainy Days
Description: Double Bond is a ridge filling base coat and sticky base coat in 1. Best of both worlds. I also sometimes like wearing it alone cause it gives a healthy, sheer, milky look to the nails.
Monsoon Season – Down-to-earth freshness. Top notes of bergamot, clementine, and grapefruit; followed by middle notes of jasmine and rose; well-rounded with base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, and oakmoss.
To my nose this is a more vibrant earthy scent with floral notes. I don’t pick up rose much – but I do get the jasmine scent (jasmine is my fav floral scent so it usually stands out more for me) It definitely falls more floral than anything for me scent wise.

Inspiration: Inspired by Rainy Days
Description: Fast & Hard is a super glossy quick dry top coat that can be applied over wet polish without issue. It also works over stamping, just make sure you float the top coat!

This was a fun month and I love how colorful the makers made it. I know there was a lot of fear that it would be drab and boring, but I feel it was well done.

Hard to pick a favorite this month (as always) but I’m really loving the Red Eyed Lacquer and Alchemy polishes this month! Thanks as always for the beautiful swatches.

Well, now I’ve got Only Happy When It Rains and Kiss the Rain stuck in my head. At the same time. Polish wise, right now I’m super excited for the BKL but I know more will jump in to keep it company.
There are so many stunning polishes this month but I think Fair Maiden has me in the tightest chokehold.
I’m also planning to get the Zra earrings!
Oh, it’s difficult to choose, but the Ethereal “Coffee Cloud” has captured my interest along with the Great Lakes Lacquer polish this month!
