Polish Pickup June 2024 | Cartoons

Happy Saturday! I am a little closer to on time this month – and I’m 90% caught up finally after being sick last month. I would be further along – but my son graduated high school and his ceremony was yesterday, but this whole week was a flurry of activity. Today was the first calm day in a bit, so I worked on finishing up some things. So now we’re going to look at several items from the Polish Pickup June 2024 shop … and the theme is Cartoons!

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did Monarch Lacquer Hi-Def Shine Top coat (sent as PR and I’ve also purchased.. and that’s an affiliate link). For all textured polishes, I did use Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (PR) and Monarch Lacquer top coat over it.
For my lighting setup, since I use artificial lighting due to my day job, involves 2 Neatfi XL Lamps from Amazon (affiliate link) as well as this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).
And lastly – I do use artificial gel nails that I do myself at home. In this post (and video) I am using Apres Gel X Nails in Extra Short Stiletto, which are clear nails. I do not use blurring base coats or anything to increase opacity of the nails – and it shows during my YouTube videos especially. With the clear nails, if you can see through the tip still – then odds are you will also see VNL through the polish I have on. If you cannot see through them, then opacity was likely reached.

Description: Little Mermaid is a solar polish that goes from a mint green inside (non UV) to dark purple in the sunlight or with UV light, and has violet to orange iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy and matte top coat for these photos.
I did use a UV flashlight for these photos since I take them at night.
The stronger the UV light, the darker the polish gets. Please make sure you are not wearing a UV blocking top coat when wearing this or it will not transition. Transition may also be slighter if using a window while inside to see transition – most windows block different percentages of UV rays.

GLISTEN & GLOW | DRY + PREP

Description: Dry + Prep is actually something I used for my Gel X Nails. Basically on your natural nail plate – apply a thin coat and it helps dehydrate the nail plate, corrects the nail plate pH balance and preps the keratin surface for adhesion of base coats and nail polish (and in my case, the “glue” I use to attach my gel nails) This also allows the nail to be free and clear of any residue and oils that can cause base coats and/or nail polish to lift or chip.
How to use: wash hands and nails with soap and water, dry hands and nails. Apply to the nail with the provided brush. Allow to dry for 30-60 seconds. Repeat this step of you have nails that are prone to lifting or are you oily nail plate. Now, apply base coat or nail polish to the nail. (The brush will spray out and separate into sections, this is totally normal.)

Description: Milk has been used in beauty routines since ancient times, it is high in lactic acid that aids to remove dead skin cells, for soft and supple skin. Coconut milk is also packed full of vitamins and antioxidants, especially vitamin C, which is known to brighten skin and increase elasticity. To my nose – I pick up sweet banana and vanilla with a tart little pineapple kick. It smells like if you bottled up the tropics and put a fancy little spin on it. It’s slightly sweet but not super fruity. The vanilla and amaretto help soften the fruitiness.

Last month was my first time participating in PPU, and I was blown away by the polishes I received. This month I have to restrain myself, but I really want We’re All Mad Here because I haven’t tried a thermal before, and the dehydrator because my nail beds are oily. Thanks for being so thorough in your presentation. It is much appreciated.

BCB Lacquers and Dreamland Lacquer are top 2 polishes in my wishlist because they are based on two of my absolute favorite animated series. And after you pointed it out, I have added Alchemy Lacquers to my wishlist as well! I loved watching Gummi Bears when I was a kid.
