I’m super late posting this (about a week later than normal) but sometimes real life just really throws you for a loop. However the shop is still on, so while later than usual – it’s not beyond the shop date – so that’s a plus. We are going to be taking a look at the items I received for the Polish Pickup December 2021 shop and the theme is Warm & Cozy.

So this month was busy with work, end of first quarter for my son’s school (which means projects) parent/teacher conferences, training at work, Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I have swatched over 300 polishes this month (I have several posts to do this weekend) and I’m not sure how I completed it, but I did. My work closes down the last 2 weeks (previously said months and while it feels like that, we only close down for 2 weeks) of December, so I’ll be making sure for the new year I’m caught up and ahead of the game.

USPS was also slower this month and I am still getting items trickling in (I got 7 items yesterday alone) and I believe I’m still waiting on 1 or 2 more.

December also marks my 10 year blogiversary. I’ve been doing this non-stop for 10 solid years. I will be having a giant giveaway for it too – lots of makers that I work with and/or admin for have donated custom polishes to my 10 year celebration and I am excited to show those off. I will be doing sneak peeks on Instagram starting next week too!

Okay so onto the show. Most of these are still available. I did share the Heather’s Hues WiTs lotion in group early because that one always sells out and I knew I had it. Most items I had did not have caps though – so it was safe and they are still available.

For the fine details – for all photos shown – I used Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues Peel Off Base, and for the glossy photos I did use a combination of the top coats including Vibrant Vinyls which was sent as PR this month, and Night Owl Lacquer’s Patience Not Required. For all matte swatches I used Night Owl Lacquer Gone Matte. I purchased the Vapid Lacquer Commitment Issues and the top coats were sent as pr or as gifts.

I do use artificial lighting for my photos. I work during the day and weekend afternoons I’m with Nick and Jacob, so I do most swatching when the sun is setting or gone. My current setup uses GlamCor Pro LIghts and I use the Ultra X Model and this Daylight Company Duo Daylight Lamp (affiliate link).

Also – I changed my nail shape last month. I’m still getting used to them, but i needed a change. I’m using ENailCouture Full Coverage Gel Nail Tips in Mini Almond.

You will notice the shop itself is a little lighter. Typically there’s 200+ items each month but it’s been toned down a little so there’s closer to 150ish items.

Description: Snow Days is a greige crelly base with red to orange to gold shimmer and red to black shifting micro flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer | Baby Snuggles

Inspiration: The Anchor & Heart family grew by one this past July, and owner Taryn thought it would be fun to commemorate her new baby boy with a cozy themed polish inspired by oh-so-precious, irresistible BABY SNUGGLES!

Description: Baby Snuggles is a pale, slightly gray leaning cornflower blue crelly with a bright blue shimmer, neon blue micro flakies, and a touch of holo shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade is a sheerer crelly. If you have an obvious VNL it will probably show through.

AURORA 5-Free Nail Lacquer | Tauntaun Insulation

Inspiration: Inspired by the toasty warm entrails of Han Solo’s tauntaun that keep Luke Skywalker warm on Hoth

Description: Tauntaun Insulation is a pale milky grey crelly base loaded with blue to green shifting shimmer, rainbow flakes and it glows orange in the dark. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Since I photograph at night, I did use a UV flashlight to “charge” my nails for the photos.

Inspiration: Inspired by wine at sunset.

Description: Vino Al Atardecer is a berry-purple jelly base with a slight purple to red shimmer, pink mirror-like flakes and black to red flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for thesde photos.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Solstice Gift

Inspiration: Inspired by a Court of Frost and Starlight

Description: Solstice Gift is a pale lavender pastel multichrome with silver metallic flakes. The formula is the same as Gwishin (if you snagged that one) so it may dry with some texture. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Black Dahlia Lacquer | Snow Flake Mittens

Inspiration: Inspired by blue snowy mittens.

Description: Snow Flake Mittens is a pale icy blue crelly with blue and violet shifting iridescent micro glitter and shifty blue-violet flakies with a pronounced shifting purple flash. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade has a sheerer base, so if you have a strong VNL it will show through. It can also work as a topper.

Black Dahlia Lacquer | Peel Off Base Coat

Inspiration: n/a

Description: Peel Off is a non latex peel off base coat. While latex ones are for shorter term (like my swatching) this is for a longer period and can last 3-5 days. This is a milky white when first applied, and it dries down to a milky matte base that can also double as a VNL blur base.

This does take about 7 minutes to dry for me BUT it’s also been 20-35 degrees and the cold does cause slower dry times. If it ever warms up I can try again – but the maker does saying it fully dries in less than 5 minutes.

Removal tips:
1. Oil your cuticles prior to removing your mani. This will help soften the polish and make peeling the polish off easier.
2. If you want perfect ‘peelies’ Black Dahlia recommends waiting 12-24 hours before removing your mani. This gives your nail polish time to fully cure and makes removing polish in one piece much easier.

Bygone Apothecary | Tom & Jerry Luxury Hand Cream

Inspiration: Inspired by A hot Tom & Jerry (the drink, not the cartoon!) after shoveling the driveway

Description: Tom & Jerry Luxury Hand Cream is a nice consistency hand cream that is more on the thick side, but it’s not “stiff” so it’s easy to scoop a little and apply without worrying it will run down your palm or anything. It soaks in within about 30 seconds and leaves you feeling really soft without a sticky residue. This does contain Lanolin which is great for hard working hands and it helps seal moisture into the skin and create a barrier.

PS – I’ve been using this the last few days on my feet and its been amazing.

Scent wise, this cream is described as :
 For those of you who have never had the pleasure of tasting a Tom & Jerry, it’s a warm, creamy vanilla drink with notes of brown sugar and cinnamon, and is often served spiked with your liquor of choice (mine is bourbon!). This fragrance is a faithful reproduction of that – it’s a nice, buttery sweet vanilla with a hefty sprinkle of cinnamon on top, and a cheeky splash of rum.

Cinnamon and vanilla are the key notes my nose picks up – it’s a very warm and comforting type fragrance, and there is an underlying scent that I couldn’t place initially ( I don’t read descriptions until after I sniff and think of what it smells like to me) but after reading and I saw rum – it made sense. The rum scent is incredibly light and almost hard to detect the notes over the vanilla and cinnamon.

Description: Purple Lights is a deep, but bright cool tones purple crelly base with chrome flakes in red, as well as some blue, green and gold. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspiration: Inspired by a comfy fire lit living room. Is there anything quite as cozy as curling up beside the fireplace with a good book and a cup of something warm?

Description: Firelit Nights is a clear based topper with scattered holo, red to gold to green shifting shimmer, red to bronze to copper ultrachrome chameleon flakes and red to gold to green iridescent glitter. I used 1 coat over a black creme for these photos.

Inspiration: Inspired by a bright, sunny, and cozy reading nook.

Description: Sun Warmed Nook is a bright yellow crelly base with red to gold to green shifting shimmer, bronze and red to copper micro flecks and it glows green in the dark. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I photograph at night, so I did use a UV flashlight to “charge” the nails for the GITD photo.

Description: Housecat Homebody is a peach crelly base with bronze micro shimmer and chameleon flakes in green, copper, fuchsia and gold. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The peach in my photos is more orange showing than the polish is. It’s a much lighter tone in person.

Inspiration: Inspired by a cozy pillow fort in the clouds

Description: Naps on Cloud 9 is a purple jelly base with ultra reflective silver glitters and assorted white glitters. I used 3 thin coats and. aglossy top coat for these photos.

This does dry down with some texture, so you will need 2 coats of top coat OR a glitter smoothing top coat with regular top coat.

Ultra reflective glitters are similar to what you think of with reflective safety jackets. When light hits it (flash, flashlight or strong lighting in general) it reflects back which makes the glitter sparkle more and stand out.

Inspiration: Inspired by the Danish word of Hygge and the life that it represents. The warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. A perfect polish for the everyday/work friendly life that is a palette cleanse from the bold and vibrant. Just a simply delicate and refreshed manicure vibe!

Description: Hygge Life is an ivory crelly with pink under tones loaded with rainbow iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Glisten & Glow | Top Coat

Description: Glisten & Glow top coat is perfect for nail art and stamping and is a long lasting glassy quick dry top coat.  I’ve been using the top coat for 8 years now and it’s never failed me. It dries fast, has a very glossy, high shine and floats well over nail art.

This top coats dries fast (about 4 minutes on me) and glows under blacklight. Also pairs beautifully with G&G GLitter Grabber if you picked that up in previous shops.

I am a snacker. I prefer little snacks throughout the day vs large meals. I have snack drawers at work. My old coworkers miss the fact that they no longer have a snack dealer in the office. My new coworkers never knew they needed a snack dealer until I arrived.

This helps me take them on the go.

The inside fabric is really soft but you can also tell by the feel it would be easy to clean/wipe out. It holds a decent amount without being super bulky and it’s nice to put stuff in it and pop it into my purse without the thought of spillage within the actual purse.

Description: WiTs body lotion is a fast absorbing body lotion that doesn’t leave my hands greasy. The texture is light and creamy and a little goes a long way.

The December scent is Peppermint Hot Cocoa and is described as notes of warm hot chocolate and melted marshmallow followed by hints of peppermint and vanilla bean

This does smell just like what you would imaging peppermint hot cocoa would smell. You get the hot chocolate and then a yummy peppermint mingling with it. I actually made hot cocoa after sniffing this because it made me crave some.

Inspiration: Inspired by Lattes

Description: KBShimmer’s sugar scrubs are good for all over the body or as a hand scrub, the sugar particles are medium grit so they do a good job getting dry spots on your body situated.

Caffè Latte Hand & Body Sugar Scrub is inspired by those cozy cups of coffee. A dark, rich espresso scent is lightened by notes of cream and hints of sweet vanilla. A light beige in color, this sugar scrub echoes those artful lattes with a darker tan swirl.

To my nose – this is the perfect coffee-esque type scent without being super bitter like bean water. The balance of espresso and vanilla/cream is perfect and it smells delicious.

I do have clear tips on so it shows just how see-thru the jelly is, however – which more opaque tips and normal lighting, it won’t be as obvious. However – if you have a very VNL – it will show through.

Each purchase will come with a small bag of extra star glitters. These are heavier, so the extras are so you can do your placement rather than fish. I personally didn’t fish and got 3 or 4 with no effort at all.

Da Balm-er by Red Eyed Lacquer | Boozy Hot Chocolate

Inspiration: Inspired by A custom blend of boozy marshmallows and warm hot chocolate.

Description:  Da Balm-er is a cross between a balm and body butter. It’s creamy like a body butter but has a more emollient feel like a balm would. It’s an intensive treatment you can use anywhere (I love it on cuticles of course) but a little goes a long way. If you use too much – it will feel very oily (like a balm would) so start with a little and build up if you need more.

The December scent is Boozy Hot Chocolate and it’s described as a custom blend of boozy marshmallows and warm hot chocolate.

My nose majorly picks up the hot chocolate scent and there is a bit of underlying boozy scent but its very light to me. I can’t even really say what kind of booze – possibly bourbon? It’s light and just elevates the hot chocolate scent a bit

Rogue Lacquer | Take it Off: Soy Polish Remover

Inspiration: Inspired by my great aunts fresh baked zucchini bread

Description: An alternative to acetone is a soy based nail polish remover. Great for your nails and skin this remover will help with nail health while removing your polish.

Soy Remover does take a bit longer for removal in comparison to traditional removers, but it can be worth it.

Scented with a sweet zucchini bread. One of my fondest memories is baking with my aunt. She always baked fresh zucchini bread and we would curl up by the fire with a glass of milk and fresh baked bread.

I am going to issue this warning cause I have done it (more than once) so just fair warning – if you have anything with that nice, soft, rubberized grip like.. I dunno… a pricey gaming mouse… do not touch it until you have rinsed your hands. Soy based removers can warp/melt/ruin that finish.

Polish Snowglobe by Starlight and Sparkles | By the Fire Snow Globe Bottle

Inspiration: Inspired by Warm fireplaces and dancing flames

Description: By the Fire is a small snow globe in the shape of a nail polish bottle! It contains red, orange, copper, and gold metallic and holographic glitter, iridescent orange to green glitter, and small gold and red holographic stars. Shake it up and watch the mesmerizing drift of sparkling glitter in colors like flames! The small stars and larger pieces of glitter are heavier, and fall a little more quickly, while the smaller glitters drift more slowly downward.

The cap has a stainless steel eyehook in the top, so you have the option of leaving it as is and setting it somewhere (for example: on a desk, by your keyboard, in easy reach for playing with!), or it can be attached to or hung from something using one of the three included attaching pieces. There is a lanyard clip, a small ball chain with clasp (good for attaching to a purse or tote), and a lobster clasp with a ring on the end (good for using a ribbon to hang it like an ornament).

Inspiration: Let’s Stay In Bed All Day was inspired by a photo of a luxurious deep berry and golden bronze designed bedroom that looks like it would be pure bliss to spend the day in, enjoying some tea and reading a good book!

Description: Let’s Stay In Bed All Day is a glitter bomb with tones of deep berry, burgundy, gold, and coppers in a clear base. This can be a topper – but I used 3 thin coats alone.

Due to glitter content you might need 2 coats of top coat for a smooth finish.

The Soapy Chef | Winter is Coming Spa Manicure Treatment

I have a few Spa Manicures from The Soapy Chef and this mint be my favorite. I love treatments with minty notes and for this particular one I can pick up the menthol and woodland moss the most and I love that mint and earthy mix.

Unicorn Magic Skincare | Warm Vanilla Sugar Acetone Additive

Inspiration: Inspired by “Wrapped in a soft cozy blanket sipping on a warm drink infront of an open fire.”

Description: The use of acetone can wreak havoc on nails and surrounding skin, leaving those unsightly dry white marks. The use of acetone additive will help diminish the stripping of natural oils from your hands & nails, helping them look healthy and beautiful. Contains skin loving oils such as jojoba & argan oil for maximum benefit.

This acetone additive is in a plastic bottle that you squeeze to dispense. Shake before using, add the desired amount and give the acetone a shake then use.

I do suggest adding a little, testing it to see if it needs more, then add more. I usually add 1/4-1/3 of the 1 ounce bottle to a 10 oz amount of remover (I used zoya remove+)

Warm Vanilla Sugar – decadent warm vanilla, sweet cream with spun sugar and a hint of musk. BBW type.

If you know the BBW scent, then you are familiar with what this one smells like.
