I have a brand new maker to share on my blog today, Lurid Lacquer is releasing their Thistle and Thorn Collection tomorrow (1/26) and we’re gonna take a look!

As I mentioned – this is the first release for Lurid Lacquer and it’s been a long time in the making. I was fully planning on buying this collection, but when the offer came to swatch it – I couldn’t resist.
The formula for these shades are all very easy to work with and smooth. I reached near opacity or full opacity in 3 thin coats. I do use Apres Gel X nails with no blurring type base coat – so you can see in my clear tips how opaque shades are.
I do have the next 2 releases in my possession already as well – and all I can say is… this is a brand you’ll want to watch for. Right now they do not have a Facebook Fan Page – so you’ll want to check them out on Instagram to see more swatches (they are very active on there) and future releases.
Okay lets jump in. These do release tomorrow (1/26) at 6pm CST. Things may sell out, but they do plan on restocking in the future.
Lurid Lacquer | Thistle and Thorn
Thistle and Thorn is a cool, medium, dusty turquoise jelly base loaded with a fine purple to pink shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | Nettle and Briar
Nettle and Briar is a seafoam green crelly base loaded with a fine pink to orange to gold shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | Quiet
Quiet is a soft dove grey crelly base loaded with a fine purple to pink to red shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | Unyielding
Unyielding is a cool toned, medium lavender crelly base with a fine purple to pink shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | Indomitable
Indomitable is a warm, violet leaning purple jelly base loaded with a fine, vibrant purple to pink to red shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This one made my camera flip out a bit.
I did get mild staining on my gel x nails on removal, but it was a very faint tint.

Through Drought and Abundance is a soft, taupe-ish grey crelly base with pink to orange to gold to green shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | Reaching Skyward As You Root
Reaching Skyward as You Root is a cool toned brown jelly base packed with strong green to blue shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | Only Fools Fail To Admire
Only Fools Fail To Admire is a soft pale pink jelly base loaded with strong pink to orange to gold shifting shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
The shimmer in this one is much bolder than my photos show.
Lurid Lacquer | The Wisdom of Your Armor
The Wisdom Of Your Armor is a dusty rose jelly base loaded with green to blue aurora micro flake shimmer and bronze reflective glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Despite having reflective glitters – this was a fairly smooth application and I personally did not feel the need for a smoothing topper. Top coat eliminated any mild texture there was.

You Survived is a bright, medium green jelly base loaded with green to blue aurora micro flake and bronze light reflective glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lurid Lacquer | O, Dauntless, Guarded Beauty
O, Dauntless, Guarded Beauty is a clear base loaded with green to purple iridescent flakes, as well as purple reflective glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This can also be used as a topper due to the clear base.
Lurid Lacquer | Now Thrive
Now Thrive is a teal jelly base loaded with green to blue to purple to pink iridescent flakes, micro holo flakes and a light sprinkle of scattered holo. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This shade is a bit greener in person.
