Halloween 2020 Collection

Today was a busy one. My son is officially in high school and today was his very first day of school. He is doing the whole distance learning thing, so we got up early and got him all set up and things went smoother than I expected them to. Might be a good sign? We’ll see. I let him do his own thing on zoom and stayed away unless he came out and needed something, or was between classes.

But I have a kid in high school. Man I feel old now.

Anyways, tonight we’re going to be looking at the Lemming Lacquer Halloween 2020 Collection!

So this is an 8 piece collection full of shifty elements. Some are multichrome bases, some have multichrome shimmer, and some have shifty flakes… and a few have a mix of the shiftiness going on.

These all release on Friday, September 18th at 7pm CT

Let’s jump in and take a look, all links and pricing will be at the bottom of the post.

Lemming Lacquer | Hexentanz

Hexentanz is an ultraviolet to purple to red jelly based multichrome with holographic micro flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Meaning “witches dance” in German, Hexentanz is inspired by The Witch Dance from the 2016 celebration of Walpurgis in Harz Germany.

One thing I need to say on this, the flash of blueish on the top is not that strong in person. It’s beautiful – however – for one of the first times I can think of, my camera and lighting combo created the weird effect the iphones generally do with LED lighting. So while there is a beautiful flash of color, it doesn’t look exactly like this.

Easily my favorite color in the collection though.

Lemming Lacquer | Specter’s Bargain

Specter’s Bargain is a medium orange crelly base with a scattered holographic effect, with green to blue to red multichrome shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspired by lyrics from the song A Charming Spell by Splashdown.

I’m not generally an orange fan, but I did love this one.

Lemming Lacquer | Her Dark Majesty

Her Dark Majesty is a pink to purple to green to gold jelly based multichrome with holographic microflakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. I had the most fun photographing this one, and it’s another favorite in the collection.

Inspired by the name of reverence for Michelle Pfeiffer’s witch character, Lamia, in the movie Stardust.

Lemming Lacquer | Bone Fairy

Bone Fairy is a grey crelly base with strong pink to orange to gold to green multichrome shimmer and holographic micro flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy topcoat for these photos.

And the ‘creepy’ award for inspiration goes to…. this one.

Inspired by the admittedly strange but unquestioned tradition of putting our baby teeth under our pillows for the Tooth Fairy.  Modern folk stories say we make offerings of our baby teeth and the bones of the dead, lest the bone fairies take larger bones like spines and skulls from the living.

Lemming Lacquer | Lycanthropy

Lycanthropy is a medium green leaning turquoise jelly base with orange to gold to green shimmer and matching flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade is a bit brighter and greener in person.

Inspired by “Werewolf” by artist GDBee.

Lemming Lacquer | Hobgoblin

Hobgoblin is a chocolate brown jelly base loaded with mutichrome pigment that shifts cyan to blue to purple to red, as well as holographic micro flecks. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Fun fact, I can my son different ‘goblin’ names…. Hobgoblin has been used a few times. I usually bust out a Goblin name when he calls me old in some way.

Inspired by my youngest cat, Sabrina, who I call “goblin” when she gets the zoomies. In folklore hobgoblins tend to be more mild than goblins and are known for being both helpful and mischievous–just like Sabrina.

Lemming Lacquer | Season of the Witch

Season of the Witch is a rich, burnt orange linear holographic with additional orange shimmer. The base of this shade gives almost a chrome like appearance, it’s that rich and shiny. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Inspired by the season of all things Fall and Halloween that nourishes the witch in all of us.

Lemming Lacquer | Nightmare’s Gloom

Nightmare’s Gloom is a purple to red-violet to orange to copper multichrome with gold to green to blue to purple shifting flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

When applying, the first coat seemed patchy and… iffy. But as I built it up – it’s actually quite beautiful. So don’t be put off by the first coat… give it some time. It’s worth it.

Lemming Lacquer | Halloween 2020 Collection

So many good Halloween collections coming and this is among my favorites so far. My favorite shades were Hexentanz, Her Dark Majesty, Specter’s Bargain and Bone Fairy.

Each shade had pretty strong shifts going on, Specter’s Bargain was probably one of the lighter ones, but when the shift shows – it’s glorious. Part of me thought I was missing a rich deep green though… like an emerald green or pine green with shifty shimmer. But I think Cassie’s done one before… I still felt like I needed another though.

I love her Halloween collections! Beautiful swatches as always! My son started 9th grade this year too! They went back last week, virtually as well. I refuse to take a first day of school pic until he actually is physically going to his high school! Fingers crossed they are looking at October 8th! Girl, I feel you though! It’s hard to believe he will be done with school in 4 years! I definitely feel old. ‍♀️
