Throwback Collection

I have a fun collection to share tonight! I’m a little behind (nothing new here!) so you’ve already seen these around the nail world.  It’s the KBShimmer Throwback Collection!

This is a pretty incredible collection to me. Some of these polishes were in my very first blogger package I ever received from KBShimmer. About half of these have been featured on my blog before, while the other half I purchased, but they didn’t make it onto the blog. But I do own the original releases of them all.

KBShimmer is re-releasing these throwback shades as part of their 10th Anniversary celebration. These 8 shades all released in 2012 or 2013 and are considered “fan favorites”

One thing I want to mention is that, for those newer to indies – when I started in the indie community, the majority of indie polishes involved glitter. Lots of glitter. Glitter crellies, glitter toppers, full on glitter bombs… and we don’t see as much today as 7 years ago. But back then, you basically had to love glitter. Mainstream brands didn’t have polishes that looked like this, which was what originally caught my eye. I still enjoy glitter, I love glitter – so I do still love polishes like these.

Okay let’s jump in. For funsies, I’ll also link my previous review of the original releases of these polishes if I blogged them back in the day.

KBShimmer | Band Geek

KBShimmer Band Geek is a black jelly base packed with several sizes of silver, copper, and gold glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I wear the original of this to all of my son’s band performances. All of them. He plays the trumpet, and this year he is in concert band. I personally have no musical talent in any way, and have never played an instrument, so when Jacob showed interest and actually enjoyed it (and was good at it) I was thrilled. He’s also made some amazing friends from band.

KBShimmer | Berry Patch

KBShimmer Berry Patch is a pale, cool toned pink crelly base with blue, purple, red and fuchsia hex glitters, silver holographic glitters and microglitters. The hex glitters come in various sizes ranging from medium down to micro. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Original review is HERE

KBShimmer | Clown Puke

Clown Puke is the lone glitter topper within the release. This is a clear base with a rainbow of glitters in different sized hex glitters, triangle glitters, and square glitters and some matte white and silver  star glitters. I used 1 coat over OPI Don’t Toot My Flute (that OPI Fall review is coming too, which is what this is from)

KBShimmer | Elle

KBShimmer Elle is a medium grey crelly base with pink, pale pink, pearl white and grey hex glitters, white square glitters and pink holographic hex glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

I thought I had this one on the blog, but it’s another I bought and didn’t post.

KBShimmer | Iris My Case

KBShimmer Iris My Case is a lavender crelly base with pink, purple, white, periwinkle and blue glitters randing from medium to micro. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

My original review is HERE

KBShimmer | No Whine Left

KBShimmer No Whine Left is a deep plum crelly that looks almost brown tinged. Like chocolatey plums… if that makes sense? The base is crelly and it’s loaded with blue, aqua, fuchsia and purple hex glitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This was in the first KBShimmer swatch package I ever received. Originally posted on August 19th of 2012. Check it out HERE.

KBShimmer | Shipwreck

KBShimmer Shipwreck is a deep blue green jelly base with hex glitters in teal, blue, green and puple, as well as copper microglitters and silver microglitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

KBShimmer | Teal Another Tail

KBShimmer Teal Another Tail… I was obsessed with this polish when it originally released. I actually used up the entire bottle. This is a dusty teal green crelly with strong pink to gold duochrome shimmer flecks, as well as holographic microglitters. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade released in Fall of 2013, and looking back – I loved that whole flipping collection. Check it out HERE.

KBShimmer Throwback Collection

This collection really brought back some early blogging memories and kind of a reminder of how much the indie market has changed and grown. What used to be more glitter bombs and crellies turned into more holo and unicorn pee/aurora shimmer. I’ve watched indie brands and bloggers who primarily cover indies come and go, some came back for more while others drifted off and were never really heard from again.

It’s amazing to see that KBShimmer has been with us for 10 years, and I’m sure we’ll see her for many many more. I’m happy to say that for at least 6 of those years, I’ve been there with you.
