Fandom Flakies Box January 2022 | Bachelor/Bachelorette

Happy Thursday! It’s fine for the first Fandom Flakies Box post of 2022… and for the January theme we have Bachelor/Bachelorette!

For the Fandom Flakies Box January 2022 we have Fair Maiden Polish joining us. I am an admin/paid employee for Polish Pickup, and Fair Maiden Polish happens to be the brains behind the PPU operation as well – so I have worked very closely with them over the years.

I have noticed that the Fandom Flakies Box Fan Group on Facebook is gaining some new faces – so I’m going to explain the box a little more. I think I backed off since most seemed to know the drill, but based on some questions – there are enough new faces to rehash it all.

So basically Fandom Flakies Box has 2 constant makers – Night Owl Lacquer and Bee’s Knees Lacquer. Ribbits Stickits is also a familiar face to the box – bringing fun add ons to the box to really bring the theme to life. Then there is a guest maker. The guest maker each month picks the theme for the box and the themes range from video games to tv shows to movies. Sometimes others – but those are the most common. Basically anything with a possible “fandom” is fair game in this box.

Every month when the shop opens there are 40 Ready To Ship boxes made. Usually it will be said as “RTS” and that’s what that means. They are ready to go.

When you purchase a box, you will only receive the 3 polishes. It’s a flat rate of $33 plus shipping for the 3 polishes, and if you want to add Ribbits Stickits goodies – then the price goes up depending on what is added. But the baseline is $33 for the 3 polishes shown.

Want only the Ribbits Stickits addons? That’s perfectly fine – you can buy those alone as well.

Once the 40 RTS boxes are gone – they essentially go into preorder. The preordered boxes will ship between 2-4 weeks after the shop closes. They do aim for sooner but as we all know – USPS has a mind of it’s own and it’s just not always possible.

All polishes within the box are exclusive to the box. I believe the Ribbits Stickits items are as well.

Fair Maiden Polish is the January 2022 maker, and they picked a theme of Bachelor/Bachelorette for the month.

Let’s jump right in. These will be available for purchase/preorder tomorrow (01/14)

Bee’s Knees Lacquer | Champagne-gate

Champagne-gate is a sort of dusty light greige crelly base with red to green shifting shimmer and silver holo flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Night Owl Lacquer | The Final Rose

The Final Rose is a medium red jelly base with red to gold to green and purple to red to gold crystal chameleon flakes and red metallic micro flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Fair Maiden Polish | Hometown Dates

Hometown Dates is a clear base loaded with purple small and microglitters, as well as red to gold to green multichrome flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Despite the glitters and flakes – this did reach full coverage in 3 thin coats (2 normal possibly if you do thicker coats) and there was only a slight texture to it.

Ribbits Stickits | Frogetaboutit Acetone Additve

Frogetaboutit Acetone Additive is a small vial of liquid that you shake up and pour into your acetone to lessen the harsh effects. It takes away that ashy look acetone can leave behind on your skin, plus gives a burst of scent to sort of cover up the smell of acetone.

If you are new to Acetone Additive, I suggest you shake the vial, pour in half, test the acetone and then pour in more as you see fit. Depending on your skin type and what type of remover you use, the amount of additive needed with vary. If you tend to have oily skin – too much will make you oily, too little and it won’t seem like you used any. It’s a balancing act so add a little, test and add more as needed.

For January the scent is Beach Date! I don’t have an official description – so we’re going by my nose only! This has a slightly beachy like undertone… like the soft salty air type scent with roses and I smell apple. The apple is throwing me but the strongest notes I detect are rose and apple mixed. It smells really good and the fruit notes are softening the bite of rose, and then the salty sea air like notes pull it together into a really interesting.

EDIT: Here is the official scent description:

Beach Date scent description: house blend of Palo Santo, Beachwood Vetiver and SunshineAll scent notes: Grapefruit and Oranges, Cardamom, Saffron, Violet, Palo Santo, Amber, Sandalwood, Wood, SmokeSalty Sea Air, Dried Coconut, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Carnation, Vetiver, Driftwood, Seaweed, Pineapple, Apricot and Creamy Vanilla

This is an add on item and will be $4.50

Ribbits Stickits | Un-frog-gettable Hand and Cuticle Cream

This hand and cuticle cream is thick enough so it can be used every day in small amounts, or slather it on at night for a more intensive treatment.

The January scent is Beach Dates – and it’s the same scent as the acetone additive shown above.

Ribbits Stickits | Vinyl Decal

The Vinyl Sticker this month says Bachelor Nation and has a holo rose with it!

Instructions:1. Scrape over the entire image going over it several times(use a credit card or something with a thin hard edge) This will help the vinyl stick to the transfer sheet.

2. Place the decal face down & slowly peel the white backing from the translucent transfer sheet.

3. Slowly remove transfer sheet, making sure all of the pieces of the vinyl are sticking to the transfer tape.

4. Clean the surface where you are applying your sticker.

5. Add your sticker to the surface, smooth down.

6. Take your scraper & scrape all over the image(use your fingers if scraping isn’t an option)

7. Slowly & carefully remove the transfer sheet leaving your sticker decal in place.

This is an add on for $5.00

Ribbits Stickits | Water Slide Decals

Next up we have themed water slide nail decals! They are like temporary tattoos for your nails. I usually cut the image I want off the sheet, set in water for 10-15 seconds, then remove the image from water and place face down on a stamping head. Then I slide the paper backing off leaving just the image on the stamper. Then I stamp the image down onto my nail firmly, lift stamper and then top coat.

There are other ways to do it – this is my preferred method.

Only 1 sheet of water slides this month, and they do come with instructions to help if you are new to these.

Decals are an add on for $5

Fandom Flakies Box January 2022 | Bachelor/Bachelorette

Side note – I’ve never seen The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. When these types of shows were at the height of popularity, I was working 2 jobs and didn’t watch much tv. I think I saw a couple of episodes at a friends house of the fake millionaire one (don’t recall the name) but that’s the extent of that type of tv for me.

The pricing for the box has changed – and there is a subscription option if you want to automatically receive these boxes. There are 2 different subscription box offerings: $33.00 for the 3 polishes only, or $43.00 for the 3 polishes plus $10 in additional Ribbits Stickits items. This month’s Ribbit Stickits extras will be the vinyl and waterslides for the sub box.

Of course you can still purchase without a sub if you prefer.
