Tonight I have the December 2015 Magic 8 Box to share with you and the theme is Northern Lights. If Magic 8 Box doesn’t sound familiar, it’s formerly known as Beauty Quartet Box, but since it has expanded, a new name was in order.

Here’s the breakdown for the Magic 8 Box: it will contain products from 8 brands. 4 will be permanent brands (Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquers, Rica and My Indie Polish) as well as 4 guest makers. For December the guest brands are Turtle Tootsie Polish, Frenzy Polish, Stardust Polish and Serum No 5.

The theme for December is “Northern Lights”. The makers wanted a whimsical, non-denominational winter theme, and what’s more magical than beautiful dancing lights across the night sky?

Let’s take a look!

Geomagnetic Storm by Philly Loves Lacquer

Philly Loves Lacquer Geomagnetic Storm

“Geomagnetic Storm” by Philly Loves Lacquer is a deep blackened plum with a green shift, silver holo micro shreds, tiny green and blue flakies, color shifting flakes and blue to aqua to violet ultra chameleon chrome flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos. The first 2 coats were a little thin and patchy in areas, but the third coat even it out nicely.

Smokey Mountain Lacquers Magical Sky Show

“Magical Sky Show” by Smokey Mountain Lacquers is a deep teal blue creme with lime and aqua shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Interstellar by Rica

Rica Interstellar

“Interstellar” by Rica is a navy blue holo with a combination of purple, green, light green and blue glitters, flakes and shimmer. I used 2 coats for these photos and a thick top coat. There is a slight texture to the polish because of all the glitters, so if your top coat is thinner you might need 2 coats of top coat for a completely smooth finish.

Cosmic Landscape by My Indie Polish

My Indie Polish Cosmic Landscape

“Cosmic Landscape” by My Indie Polish is a deep green with a gold shift, gold shimmer and a light sprinkling of holo sparks. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

The Stardust polish is what my eye was immediately drawn to in the collage. Kind of bummed that it’s only in this box because I love it!

Are these shades unique to the boxes or are they sold separately, too? I admit some of them aren’t for me but 3 are really calling my name!
