Cupcake Polish | Pirate Collection

Press Sample of the Cupcake Polish
Pirate Collection

Happy Sunday! I’ve been working on a few projects this weekend, but also took a good chunk of time out to spend time with Jacob and we drove over to my mom’s house to see her for Mother’s Day! I planned on doing a lot yesterday, but I was just wiped out and needed a little mental break so I took the day off.

Tonight I have the Cupcake Polish Pirate Collection to share!

This is a 6 piece collection with holo laced throughout. I definitely had a standout favorite in the set, but all 6 were nicely done and it was actually kind of nice to have some straight linear holographic shades to play with.

Let’s jump right into this Pirate themed collection!

Cupcake Polish | Abandon Ship

Abandon Ship is a very pale silvery pink pearl linear holographic. The pink is definitely more obvious in person, but on camera it didn’t want to play so it looks more pale silver. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Dead Men Tell No Tales

Dead Men Tell No Tales is a bronze holographic with gold and bronze shimmer, as well as gold and bronze flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

This shade has a light texture to it, so if you use a super thin top coat, you might need a second coat. A normal Quick Dry should be thick enough to smooth it in one coat though.

Cupcake Polish | Jolly Roger

Jolly Roger is my top pick of the collection. I love standard linears, but the color shift flakes still get me.

Jolly Roger is a black linear holographic base with red to orange to gold to green aurora shimmer, as well as pink to red to orange to gold to green iridescent flakes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

While this one is my favorite, it can be the tricky one to apply. Due to the incredible flake amount, I do recommend thin coats to avoid a flake pileup. Thin coats tends to avoid this and you get a better distribution of flakes on the nail.

Cupcake Polish | Marooned

Marooned is a rich, medium-dark red linear holographic with a warm red and blue flame. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Walk The Plank

Walk The Plank is a metallic silver linear holographic with reflective silver shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Since it’s more of a metallic shade, very slight brush strokes are visible.

Cupcake Polish | Yo Ho Ho

Yo Ho Ho is a metallic rose gold linear holographic. Much like Walk The Plank, there are very mild visible brush strokes. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Cupcake Polish | Pirate Collection

This was a fun holo collection and Jolly Roger was definitely my favorite of the group, followed by Marooned and Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Overall, no issues with application. Jolly Roger is better applied in this coats though and that’s really the only thing I think needs to be watched out for.
