And as a bonus… I managed to get an actual shot of Perry-Twinkle in the sun!  I usually do my swatching at night so getting sun shots is pretty much rare for me!

Tonight I have some amazing new holographic polishes from Girly Bits!  These are 4 stunning shades that make up the Holiday Holos 2013 Collection.  Time after time Girly Bits puts out amazing, quality polishes that continue to amaze.  It’s no wonder she won so many spots in various ‘Best of 2013′ posts I’ve been seeing from bloggers!

Take a look!

Ho Ho Hope

I saved my FAVORITE for last!  Ho-Ho-Hope is a vibrant violet holographic.  I am so blown away by this shade and NEED a back up bottle.  I’ve already worn this 4 times since I received it and it gets me compliments left and right!

As with all Girly Bits shades, these 4 polishes applied like a dream!  The holo effect was pretty strong in even minimal lighting.  Top coat didn’t take away the holo either, it amplified it if anything.

My Top Picks:  Ho-Ho-Hope and Dash Away All, but really – all 4 are must haves!

Best of 2013 Top 10 Indie Nail Polishes

Some Items In This Post Were Sent For Review

Best of 2013 Indie Polish

This is probably the hardest post I’ve had to write.  Last years was no different.  I had over 60 polishes listed as possibilities for my year end Top 10 post, and I’ve been sitting here for 3 days trying to narrow it down to JUST 10.  This year I saw a HUGE explosion of creativity from indie makers and it made it so hard to pick a favorite, or even 10.

I did the only thing I could think of to narrow this list down.  The polishes that popped into my head first as favorites got a spot.  The shades that I continued to reach for to wear again and again long after the review was over.  Does this cover my whole favorites list?  Not by a long shot.  Because of this, I have also decided to add an “Honorable Mention” section at the bottom of this post.

Keep in mind, these are all preference based.  I have color preferences that may very well differ from many other people.  I have swatched and reviewed hundreds of indie polishes this year.  HUNDREDS.  Possibly even in the thousands, so finding just 10 was really difficult and I think next year I’ll have to do a top 20 to make it a little easier, but we shall see.

Here is my Top 10 Indie Polishes of 2013… enjoy!

Number 10 – Jindie Nails You Can’t Turn A Ho-Lo Into A Housewife

This baby earned a spot for 2 reasons.  1. Look at that intense purple holo!  and 2.  The name still makes me giggle.  Jindie Nails is still rather new to me, but the last collection she released that I got the honor of swatching was just stunning, starting with this one.

Number 9 – DIFFERENT dimension Why Am I Such A Misfit?

DIFFERENT dimension is a brand I got to work with quite a bit this year and she put out stunner after stunner.  Why Am I Such A Misfit? won a spot because I love the all of the neon glitters and shapes with the shimmery jelly base.  It just worked, but was still just a tad different!

Number 8 – Celestial Cosmetics Santa’s Blue Balls

Celestial Cosmetics Santa’s Blue Balls won a spot in the top 10 because of the VIBRANT cobalt blue holographic.  I have several blue holos and this one just stood out.  Application was like butter and the color was amazing – and best part… it didn’t stain my nails!

Number 7 – Colors by Llarowe Unorthodox Annie

Unorthodox Annie

Colors By Llarowe really started off on the right foot this year!  I had the pleasure of swatching many of her shades and there were so many beauties!  Unorthodox Annie is among those, and deserved a spot in my Top 10.

Number 6 – Smitten Polish Klaatu Barada Nikto

It’s very safe to say that holographic shades dominated my list this year.  Most were linear holos, but this scattered holographic by Smitten Polish blew me away!

Number 5 – KBShimmer Pretty In Punk

This one surprised me.  I am NOT a green lover.  I can appreciate a gorgeous green though, and Pretty In Punk definitely deserved a spot on my top 10 list.  I have worn this several times since swatching it, and it gets prettier every time.

Number 4 – Glam Polish Maleficent

This picture says it all.  Glam Polish NAILED this stunner and it continues to be a polish I slap on repeatedly.  It’s gorgeous in every light.  While Glam Polish has MANY stunning shades, when I hear ‘Glam Polish’ this is the shade that pops into mind.

Number 3 – Mentality Nail Polish Orgasmic

A shade from the Mentality Brilliant Holos Collection made my list last year and I’m so happy to see them continually adding on to this set!  While Rapture is still one of my favorite polishes of all time, Orgasmic is right up there with it.

Number 2 – Colors by Llarowe Monkey See, Monkey Do

Monkey See Monkey Do

As I said, Colors by Llarowe really got off to a great start this year and Monkey See, Monkey Do gets a spot because it’s unique to my collection, but also incredibly gorgeous.  I already need a backup bottle!

Number 1 – Girly Bits Get Weaponized

After a LOT of thinking, I had to give the number 1 spot to Girly Bits Get Weaponized.  Girly Bits put out a ton of amazing shades this year and I wear a LOT of them regularly, but Get Weaponized is another unique shade in my collection and it’s amazing.  Probably the single polish I have gotten the most comments on.  Every time I wear it people notice and WANT it.

Those are my Top 10 Indie Polishes of 2013.  While others may disagree, this list was based on my favorites and ones that will continue to be favorites for some time.

Honorable Mentions

Because this list was so hard to narrow down, I wanted to share just a few of the shades that were strong contenders for the top 10.  I started off with more than 60 shades and narrowed down to about 17 or 18 for the top 10.  Here are 8 that barely missed the top 10 spots.

Best of 2013 Top 5 Nail Care Brands

Some Items In This Post Were Provided For Review

Best NC Brands

Over the last 2 years I have been asked several times if I had fake nails.  No I don’t.  My nails are 100% mine and I do all the work to take care of them.  I have also been asked through comments and private messages what I use to keep them strong and to clean up the cuticle area,  so I decided to do a Best of 2013 Nail Care Brands post.  These are items I’ve been using throughout the year to try to keep my nails in decent shape.  While they may not be perfect, they are moisturized, strong and have some people wondering if they are real – and I have the following 5 brands to thank!

So here are the Top 5 Nail Care Brands I couldn’t live without in 2013!

Number 5 – Trind Perfect System

I have been recommending Trind Perfect System this whole year to people who ask.  It’s on the pricier side, but it’s worth the splurge for me to keep my nails and cuticles in check.  I received my first set to review in 2012, but have continued to purchase it after I ran out because it’s that good.  Every Sunday I go through the Perfect System routine of application and cuticle cleanup and I will continue to do so until I find something better, but this works so well, I haven’t really been looking for anything “better”.

Price: $79.95

Where to Buy: The Trind Website

Number 4 – KBShimmer Cuticle Oil Pen, Sugar Scrub and Hand Lotion

I had the opportunity to review (and guest post!) for KBShimmer Bath & Body several months ago, and received her cuticle oil pen, hand lotion, sugar scrub and soap in the scent Pink Sugar.  All 4 of these items were amazing, but the cuticle oil pen, hand lotion and sugar scrub really did a fantastic job of keeping my skin looking and feeling amazing.  The cuticle oil applies from a pen with a brush tip applicator, which made oiling up my cuticles on the go fast and easy!

Prices: Cuticle Oil Pens are $6.00, Hand Lotion is $10.00 and Sugar Scrub is $10.00

Where to Buy: KBShimmer Bath & Body Website

Number 3 – Girly Bits Frazzle Fixer

frazzle Fixer

As you will see in this post, I never stick to just one cuticle oil.  I like different ways to apply as well as the different consistencies.  Some oils are thicker and give a more intense hydration.  Frazzle Fixer smells amazing (I have Cupcake!), soaks in fairly quickly and hydrates really well.  Definitely a must have the next time you shop on the Girly Bits site!  It comes in a dropper style applicator and is very easy to apply and control.

Price: $6.50

Where to Buy: Girly Bits Cosmetics Website

Number 1/2 – Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat, Glis-tics and Nail & Cuticle Balm

Glisten & Glow

I seriously couldn’t decide places 1 and 2, so they tied (which is why it says Number 1/2 next to the name).  Glisten & Glow carries a TON of nail, cuticle and hand/foot care items and 3 of my favorites are the Glis-tics Cuticle Oil, Nail & Cuticle Balm and HK Girl Top Coat.  Now Top Coat isn’t a “nail care item” but I use it constantly to keep my polish looking fresh and glossy, so I felt it deserved a spot.  Glis-tics are roller ball cuticle oils in a variety of scents but the blue frosted glass containers and personalized labels (I have some that say Cosmetic Sanctuary right on the label) make these amazing gifts as well. Presentation is gorgeous and the product is amazing.   The Nail & Cuticle Balm are fairly new and are great for overnight hydration if your skin is especially ragged from the weather or paper cuts (which I suffer from a lot).

Prices: Glis-tics are $10.50, Nail & Cuticle Balm are $8.50 and HK Girl Top Coat is $6.95 (Use the code CS10 now through the 31st of December for a 10% discount!)

Where to Buy: Glisten & Glow Website

Number 1/2 – 365 Days of Color Hand Cream, Cuticle Oil and Miracle Balm

Tying with Glisten & Glow for the 1st and 2nd place spot is 365 Days of Color.  I religiously use her hand creme (and own about 14 containers), cuticle oils and miracle balms.  She sells them full size or in sampler packs so you can get a few at once at an affordable price.  The hand creme soaks in quick if used sparingly and she has well over 100 scents to choose from and is always adding more.  365 Days of Color cuticle oil soaks in fast and are in roller ball applicators (and also come in over 100 scents) and the miracle balms aren’t only for nails/cuticles but for any dry area, such as knees and elbows, that need extra moisture or love.

Click here for previous 365 Days of Color reviews

Prices: All 3 products range in price from $4.00 to $8.00 each

Where to Buy: 365 Days of Color Website

And there is my Top 5 Nail Care Brands to check out!  I have all 5 of these brands to thank for keeping my cuticles as moisturized as they have been!

Have you tried any of the above brands?  If not and you are in the market for a new care routine – take a peek!  A lot also sell stunning polish you need as well!
