NOTD: Girly Bits Boo-Berry Over Finger Paints Plum Startled

NOTD:  Girly Bits Boo-Berry Over Finger Paints Plum Startled

Just a quick post tonight because I wanted to show off this lovely combo and I’m extremely tired!

Here is the mani I was wearing today and I really liked it!

I started off with 2 coats of Finger Paints Plum Startled which is a plum/grape jelly polish with glass flecks and micro glitter in it.  On it’s own its GORGEOUS!  Of course, I couldn’t stop there though!  I added 1 coat of Girly Bits Boo-Berry over it.  Boo-Berry is a  purple jelly chock-full of blue, purple, and fuchsia glitter of all different sizes.  Girly Bits Boo-Berry is one of the new colors from the Girly Bits Halloween collection and probably my favorite of the 5!  I topped this mani off with 1 coat of HK Girl top coat.

Now I need to add this in because I was a little frustrated last night when it happened.  My son LOVES bath time.  He’s 6 years old and will literally stay in the bath tub for well over an hour if I let him.  He likes to start the shower water, plug up the tub and sit in the bath while the shower water runs over him.  Once the bath fills up, he turns the shower off and plays with his toys in the tub.  I thought I would save time and do my nails in the bathroom while he was in the bath.  It didn’t save time.  At all.  When I added the top coat and was giddy about the result and how amazingly purple my nails were… they started to take on a “foggy” look.  The steam from my son’s bath fogged up my nails.  I waited about 20 minutes and it didn’t clear up, so I removed it and started over again :(

Ok now it’s my bed time!  Hope you liked my mani!

Mentality Nail Polish The Metallics Collection Swatches and Review

Mentality Nail Polish The Metallics Collection Swatches and Review

Happy Sunday!  Today I will be showing you a fairly newer Indie Polish line called Mentality Nail Polish.  This is her first and so far only collection she has available, BUT she is working on a new collection!

Mentality Nail Polish is a husband and wife team that work out of their home to bring you affordable nail polish.  They mean that too because this is some of the lower priced (not lower quality) Indie polish that I’ve seen in awhile!  The Metallics collection is a 5 piece set that all dries to a suede like finish and they are really pretty!

Lets get started!

Crave:

Crave is described as a light purple with gold and blue undertones and gold flakes.  This is the only one that I felt the description didn’t sound right.  In the bottle, it is correct – but when I put it on it was more peach colored with a lilac sheen in certain lighting.  Beautiful either way.  I used 2 coats for this.  Dry time was fast and I added a top coat for some added shine since they dry to a suede like finish.  This is a great nude tone!

Desire:

Desire is described as a golden orange with gold undertones and flake.  I really love this one.  It’s not orange orange, it definitely leans more golden and I think that’s why it works for me.  I have a lot of trouble pulling off orange shades.  I used 2 coats and a top coat for this mani.

Covet:

Covet is described as a blue green with gold undertones and flakes.  Another one I really liked!  I’m not a green fan, but the gold flakes made this more wearable for me.  I used 2 coats and a top coat!

Envy:

Envy is described as  a bright yellow green with gold undertones and flakes.  This is a great spring color!  Bright and vibrant!  I used 2 coats and a top coat for this mani.

Lust:

Lust has already been viewed on my blog.  I used this for my last Go Pink Wednesday post and I got a lot of compliments on it.  Lust is described as a coppery red with gold undertones and flake.  I will need to purchase a full size bottle of this one!  I used 2 coats and a top coat.  Here is another photo of it from my Go Pink Wednesday post as well!

As I said earlier, Mentality Nail Polish is a more afforable indie polish than most:

Full Size Polish: $6.00 for a 15 ml bottle

Full mini polish set:  $10.00

I love that you can get the full set of The Metallics Collection for only $10.00 and it’s sort of a ‘Try Before You Buy” the full size polishes.

Mentality Nail Polishes are 3 Free and each bottle has 2 stainless steel mixing balls.

I really loved The Metallics Collection, and for those of you who aren’t into “Glitter Bombs” this is perfect!

Make sure you check out Mentality Nail Polish on Facebook HERE as well as on their Big Cartel Shop HERE

I cannot WAIT to see the new line Mentality Nail Polish is working on!  For updates and polish info make sure you click “Like” on their FB page.

Girly Bits Calendar Girls Swatches for September, October and November!

Girly Bits Calendar Girls Swatches and Reviews for September, October and November!

Tonight I have the newest installment of the Girly Bits Calendar Girls line to show you!  If you don’t know, Pam from Girly Bits has a creation for every month and releases them in 3 month increments.  I JUST got my hands on September (Indian Summer), October (Howl At The Moon), and November (Crunchy Leaves).

It’s already late so lets get on with the swatches!

Indian Summer:

Indian Summer is the September Calendar Girls polish!  Indian Summer is described as  a mix of pink, blue, periwinkle, copper and gold, in a sheer periwinkle base.  Absolutely gorgeous!  In this pic I used 2 coats of Essie Barefoot in Blue under 1 coat of Girly Bits Indian Summer.

Howl At The Moon:

Howl at the Moon is the October Calendar Girls polish!  I layered it over Sinful Colors Black on Black because I loved the look of it.  It’s hard to tell in this photo, but Howl at the Moon is a blackened blurple jelly with various sizes of gold hexes.  The opacity of Howl at the Moon is buildable and looks amazing over blue, purple or black polish – but I had to use black because I love gold glitter on black polish!

Crunchy Leaves:

Crunchy Leaves is the November Calendar Girls polish!  If you wanted the Fall season in a bottle – THEN YOU NEED THIS!  Crunchy Leaves is a medium-dense glitter mix of orange, copper, brown, and red, in a sheer earthy base.  I used 2 coats of Crunchy Leaves by itself and was able to reach full opacity!  STUNNING!

I have always been in love with Pam’s creations and they just keep getting better!  I have more swatches to show later this week from her new Halloween Collection and you WON’T want to miss those!

Girly Bits are available through the Girly Bits Big Cartel Shop

Make sure to add the Girly Bits page on Facebook so you can see new creations and restock info!

The Calendar Girls polishes retail for $10.00 each

Do you own any Girly Bits?  What are some of your favorites?

butter LONDON Lippy & Lacquer Duos in Come to Bed Red and Queen Vic Swatches and Reviews

butter LONDON Lippy & Lacquer Duos in Come to Bed Red and Queen Vic Swatches and Reviews

Happy Thursday!  Today I have some butter LONDON beauties to show you!  I’m really loving their Lippy & Nail Lacquer duos and I have 2 in this post!  Come to Bed Red and Queen Vic.  I won’t lie, both Lippy colors intimidated me something fierce, but after applying them I really loved them, even on me.  I generally wear very toned down lip glosses and lipsticks, the butter LONDON Lippy’s were very vibrant and rich in color, but I can see myself wearing these more!

Ready to see?

Queen Vic Nail Lacquer:

Let’s start with my favorite!  Queen Vic is a vibrant cranberry creme.  I used 3 coats for my mani.  I probably could have gotten away with 2, but my nails are getting really long ( I do need to chop them down soon!) so I did a 3rd coat for good measure.  The formula was great on this one!

Queen Vic Lippy:

Here is the matching Lippy!  This went really good with my skintone!  Just like the nail lacquer, Queen Vic Lippy is a cranberry creme, but the polish on me was a richer purple while the lippy leans more pinkish. I only used 1 coat of gloss on my lips for this pic (the way I prefer it) but it IS a buildable color.  This is a “sticky lippy”, so if you aren’t thrilled with that, this may not be for you.  The gloss lasted about 4 hours on me and even after the “stickiness” went away, the color remained.

Come To Bed Red Nail Lacquer:

Now THIS is a RED polish!   Come To Bed Red is a classic, bright red creme!  I don’t wear red much.  I do love red, but I work with paper a lot at work and I usually leave red “scuff marks” behind on paper whenever I do a red mani, so I avoid it a bit now.  I used 3 coats for this mani and a glossy top coat.

Come To Bed Red Lippy:

Just like it’s nail lacquer buddy, this is a classic, bright red creme!  BUT I found it to be a wearable red as far as lippy’s go.  I generally shy away from red lips because I generally look goofy in it or like a 5 year old who decided to put on mommy’s lipstick.  It just never works out for me.  I did like this one and may save it for special occasions when I build up the nerve to wear it again (I was THAT intimidated!).  It is a beautiful color though, and the color lasted a good 5 hours on me.  This photo shows 1 coat of Come To Bed Red Lippy, but it is buildable if you wish for a richer, deeper red.

I want more Lippy & Nail Lacquer Duo’s!  I love that they came out with matching sets and I do think the Lippy formula changed since the last set I used.  The colors seemed milkier before when I tested them, and these aren’t (I prefer these).

You can find butter LONDON Lippy’s and Nail Lacquer for sale at butterLONDON.com

butter LONDON Nail Lacquer retails for $14.00

butter LONDON Lippy’s retail for $17.00 per

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Go Pink Wednesday!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Go Pink Wednesday!

Guess what?  It’s WEDNESDAY!  And that means another Go Pink Wednesday post for Breast Cancer Awareness!  Every Wednesday this month, myself and many more bloggers are taking part of Go Pink Wednesday as a collaboration put together by the lovely Andrea of  Finger Painting Fingers.  I was so thrilled to be asked to take part in this and happily accepted to do so!

For this Go Pink Wednesday, I used an indie brand completely new to me as well as nail gems, which I have never actually used either.  I’m not huge on nail art… mainly because I’m generally not great at it, but I was thrilled with how this one turned out!

For this mani I used Mentality Nail Polish in Lust.  I LOVED this color!  Application was smooth, but I had to move fast!  Lust dries to a semi matte finish, and like most mattes – they dry fast (which is amazing since I’m a mom and it never fails that my son asks for something while I wait for my mani to dry!).  I used 2 coats of Lust and a glossy top coat.  Before the top coat dried, I started using a dotting tool to grab and position the pink rhinestones in a ribbon design on my nail.

Hope you like my Go Pink Wednesday Mani!  I will have a post soon with the rest of the Mentality Nail Polish Collection!  But if you want to check her out now, go to her Facebook Page HERE and check out her Shop Page HERE.

Mentality Nail Polishes are reasonably priced at $6.00 per full size, or you can buy the full 5 piece mini set for JUST $10.00!

Make sure you check out all of the other bloggers participating in Go Pink Wednesday!

Pomegranate Lacquer Fall 2012 – Curator and Cardigan Swatches and Review

Pomegranate Lacquer Fall 2012 – Curator and Cardigan Swatches and Review

Good Evening!  I have 2 amazing swatches for you tonight from Pomegranate Nail Lacquer!  When I saw she was releasing new colors for the fall I couldn’t wait to see them!  She did NOT disappoint either!  Need a refresher on the previous swatches I did for Pomegranate Nail Lacquer?  Check them out HERE!

For Fall 2012 Pomegranate Lacquer released 7 new colors that you should take a look at on her Website.

Ready for the swatches?

Cardigan:

Cardigan is a gorgeous teal jelly polish.  I used 3 coats of Cardigan for this mani and no top coat just to show off it’s high gloss shine! As you can see it isn’t 100% opaque, but the coverage was really good for this!  No bubbling, smooth formula and rich color!  Gorgeous.

Curator:

Curator was another gorgeous polish!  Curator is a black jelly base with small gold glitter particles mixed in with slightly larger silver hex glitters.  I only needed 1 coat of top coat to completely smooth out this mani.  The glitter cooperated nicely and laid flat with no clumping.  I really loved the look of this!  I used 2 coats with no base color.

These were fabulous polishes and I want more from this collection!  Beautiful for Fall and I can see wearing both of them, especially Cardigan!  I want to make that one into a jelly sandwich asap!  I really want to snag Lust in the Library and Autumnesque!  Perfect for Fall <3

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer is high-quality, long-wearing, chip-resistant nail polish made in the USA. They offer gorgeous, juicy colors in a variety of finishes.

Pomegranate Lacquer is “4-free,” meaning it contains no toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or camphor.

They also love animals. Pomegranate Lacquer products are cruelty-free: not tested on animals.

Make sure you check out the rest of Pomegranate Nail Lacquer online HERE

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer retails for $9.00 per bottle and each bottle is 16.5 ml which is a little larger than normal polish bottles.
