I have a fairly large post for you all today, and I’m going to try to be clear about everything going on. So what are we getting into? The Vapid Lacquer February 2017 Birthday Release & Candy Shop Collection!
I’m going to break the post into sections, so we’ll go over the Candy Shop collection and all the details I have. Then we’ll get into the 3 new shades being introduced to the Vapid family and then look at some rereleases.
Almost everything I’m about to show you will be restocked again at some point EXCEPT the Candy Shop Collection. This is basically a last chance at those shades.
Let’s take a look!
Vapid Lacquer Candy Shop Collection
As I just mentioned, the Candy Shop Collection will not be restocked after this release. Are they different from the previous release? No. Aside from basic batch variations, they were made using the same recipes as the last restock. So unless you need a backup or ran out of a favorite, these should be exactly the same (or as exact as a handmade creation can be)
All 6 shades had FLAWLESS formulas. I was expecting some chalky or patchy application (nature of the beast with some neons or pastels) but was pleasantly surprised when all 6 shades applied fully opaque in 2 coats. Each shade is a pastel neon or muted neon, so they aren’t blindingly bright, but they are incredibly vivid colors. There is also a VERY delicate scattered holographic that you can see in some of my side shots in the bottle, but on the nail it’s incredibly difficult to see.
Let’s look at the colors. I have no macros of these because my camera wouldn’t focus that close. It’s been kind of a jerk lately. It did behave for the other non Candy Shop shades though!
Candy Shop will only be available as a full collection. You will not be able to purchase these shades individually
Bubble Gum is a pastel neon pink with a subtle scattered holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Gum Drop is a vivid sky blue creme with a delicate scattered holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lemon Drop is a bright lemon yellow creme with a delicate scattered holographic. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Lollipop is a pastel neon orchid purple creme with a delicate scattered holographic effect. Of the 6 shades, the scattered holo was most obvious in Lollipop. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Peach Ring is a pastel neon coral creme with a delicate scattered holographic. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
My camera grabbed a lot of the orangey aspects (or peachy I suppose?) for this color, but it’s a touch more pink in person.
Rock Candy is a pastel neon lime green creme with a delicate scattered holographic effect. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Vapid Lacquer February 2017 Restock/Release
Wasn’t entirely sure how to title these beauties. Some have been seen before, but 3 are brand new. The 3 new ones are Waxing Poetic, Ruffian and Persistence. While these are not all core colors, they will be seen again in future restocks. We are also seeing a rerelease of Pegasus Poots, Twerk-uoise and Unicorn Egg.
We’ll start with the new shades.
Waxing Poetic is a deep turquoise creme base with pink to gold to green shimmer. I used 2 coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
This is a creation that came from a prototype that is now being released. While not a core polish, you will see it again in a future restock.
Waxing Poetic will only be available in Full Size.
Ruffian is a black crelly base with red to copper to gold shifting shimmer. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Much like Waxing Poetic, Ruffian was also based on Prototype (#109 to be exact) If you have Smokescreen and love the deep shimmery shift it has, then you’ll love this one as well. It’s considered a “sister polish” to Smokescreen.
While not a core shade, you will see Ruffian in future restocks.
Ruffian will only be available in Full Size.
Persistence is a new shade that will actually be part of the core line that gets rotated in and out for releases.
Persistence is a pink orchid linear holographic. I found the base to be a little on the thin side but it built up nicely. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy topcoat for these photos.
Twerk-uoise is a beautiful vibrant aqua linear holographic. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Pegasus Poots is a soft periwinkle purple linear holographic. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Unicorn Egg is back again! This is a pale grey crelly base with pink, blue and purple matte microglitter and a sprinkling of holo pigment. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Unicorn Egg will only be available in Full Size.
And one final shade to show you! It’s Krys’ Birthday month… so that means Birthday Bitch is here!
Birthday Bitch 2017
Birthday Bitch 2017 is the same formula as previous years, so if you already have 2015 or 2016, you can skip 2017 if need be.
Birthday Bitch 2017 is a turquoise crelly base packed with pink to gold to green shifting flakes. I used 2 easy coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.
Birthday Bitch 2017 will only be available in Full Size.
Vapid Lacquer February 2017 Birthday Release & Candy Shop Collection Overview
Such a colorful release coming up!
Ok first things first. If you have to narrow down your picks, I would suggest any (or all) of the Candy Shop collection (if you don’t already own) since this is the last restock of it. After this release, it will be gone. I personally would nudge you to pick up Waxing Poetic, Ruffian and Birthday Bitch 2017 as well. While I really liked everything releases, those are my top picks.
Overall though, everything applied beautifully and I have absolutely no complaints.
Vapid Lacquer will also be restocking some of their bath and body goodies (and waxes!) but which scents, I am not entirely sure. You can join the Vapid Lacquer Fan Page on Facebook for more information.
