Little Box of Horrors March 2021 | Stephen King

by Lisa Heath

Press Sample of the Little Box of Horrors
March 2021 | Stephen King

We’re back at the apartment and finishing up packing. We spent the day at the house with Nick’s mom and we were mapping out where things are going, while a cleaning service was at the house deep cleaning every little nook and cranny. We also needed the oil filled (it’s oil heating) and propane filled (propane stovetop and… something else..) plus some deliveries we were having done. Tomorrow we finish packing and Monday the movers will be here to haul our stuff to the new home!

Anyways, while I unwind, I have a new collaboration shop to share with you! It’s the Little Box of Horrors March 2021 shop, and the theme is Stephen King!

I have 19 items from the Little Box of Horrors shop to share.

This will be a bi-monthly collaboration shop that will consist of 25ish makers. Each bi-monthly shop will have either a horror, sci-fi, thriller, supernatural, paranormal, or mystery like theme – and the products will then be inspired by that theme. For the first box ever – they are kicking it off with a Stephen King theme.

Now I’m a horror chicken. I can read horror like no tomorrow – so I was fine with Stephen King. Watching the movies however is a whole new beast. I’ve actually seen most of them, but I was probably closing my eyes and plugging my ears through most of it. It really depends on the type of horror though. I actually do better with slasher films than creepy, suspenseful ones.

Anyways, this is the first collab shop for Little Box Of Horrors, and there are set swatchers for it – however, makers are also able to send to their own swatchers as well. I will link the set swatchers at the end of this post.

Also when I say “set swatchers” makers aren’t forced to send to any of us, they can choose if they want to – so each of us have bits and pieces, but I think we’re all missing an item here and there. We also have a mix of bloggers, swatchers and live video to show.

Inspiration: SK Book & 1996 Movie Thinner

Description: Thinner Brand of Justice is a blackened purple (cold) to medium purple (warm) crelly based thermal loaded with blue to purple to gold shifting shimmer, blue micro flakes and metallic silver shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Apipila | Stephen King Stamping Plate

Inspiration: Pet Sematary, Misery, The Shining, Christine and More

Description: Apipila brings us a Stephen King inspired stamping plate with images for a variety of Stephen King novels/movies. The plate is stainless steel and 12×6 cm. I had no trouble picking up images, and primarily went for the IT images.

Price: $12.00 | Cap: 300

Baroness X | Gift of the Shine (Magnetic)

Inspiration: Inspired by the silvery blue scenes in Doctor Sleep.

Description: Gift of the Shine is a silver magnetic polish loaded with blue to violet iridescent flakies and a sprinkling of holo microflake. I used 3 thin coats alone on index and pinky, and 1 coat over black on middle and ring fingers.

Price: $12.00 | Cap: None

BCB Lacquers | IT

Inspiration: IT

Description: IT is a bright cherry red semi metallic finish shade. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Side note: for the stamping plate above, I did use this polish as a stamping polish for the IT face, as well as the balloon. While it did well over light colors, I didn’t try it over dark shades, but I don’t think it would show as well.

Price: $12.00 | Cap: 50

BCB Lacquers | Whipped Sugar Scrub

Inspiration: A Quote from Pennywise The Clown

Description: I’ll Kill You All Whipped Sugar Scrub is a creamy yet gritty sugar scrub with both white and brown sugar within it. It has a nice lather to it and leaves hands super soft. Throughout the scrub and sprinkled on top will be eco friendly holo microglitters, as well as little beads.

The scent is on the sweeter side, but it’s not sickeningly sweet. It has notes of candied citrus and black cherry.

Shown is a smaller version of the scrub you will be receiving if you purchase. Shown is a 2oz and the purchased size will be 4oz

Price: $11.00 | Cap: 20

Fanchromatic Nails | Other Worlds than These (Tri-Thermal)

Inspiration: Inspired by Jake Chambers from the Dark Tower series

Description: Other Worlds Than These is described as a multichrome thermal, and in it’s cold state it shifts green to turquoise to purple to burgundy and in warm state it shifts purple to rose to orange to gold, plus it has gold to green shimmer and ultra chrome chameleon flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Usually I do try to put the description into my own words, but I honestly struggled because there’s a lot of unique shades going on here and it made it harder to describe on my own.

Price: $12.00 | Cap: None

Fancy Gloss | The Mist (Thermal)

Inspiration: The Mist

Description: The Mist is a deep blackened green (cold) to bright spring green (hot) crelly based thermal with green to copper to gold iridescent flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Price: $12.50 | Cap: None

LynBDesigns | All Work and No Play

Inspiration: The carpet in The Shining

Description: All Work and No Play is a pink leaning bright red jelly base with orange to green shifting flakes and scattered holo. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

LynBDesigns | Wax Melt

Inspiration: The Shining

Description: Wendy I’m Home wax melt has top notes of vanilla bean, almond, and caramel. Middle notes of coriander, ginger, bay leaf, clove and cinnamon. Bottom notes of leather, amber, tonka, smoky woods and cashmere musks.

This scent is complex and interesting. It is earthy, slightly sweet and spicy. It reminds me of a cologne mixed with deep woods.

Price: $4.50 | Cap: None

ManiaKel Creations | Cat Toy

Inspiration:

Description: ManiaKel Creations has a cat toy for us! This is crocheted with 100% acrylic yarn with plastic eyes, polyester filling and catnip.

The stitching on this looks amazing. It has a really tight woven look and feel and the detail is just amazing.

MTK Design | Wicked Desire (Thermal)

Inspiration: Needful Things

Description: Wicked Desires is a deep midnight blue (cold) to clear (warm) jelly based thermal with strong red to green to gold shifting multichrome flakes, iridescent flakes and aurora shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Paradox Polish | Church Soap

Inspiration: Church, the Pet Sematary cat

Description: Church is an earthy cold process soap has a unique blend of dirt, juicy tomato, basil leaves and lemon zest. The scent is slightly spicy and earthy and … perfect for the inspiration.

This soap has a nice lather and the design is just beautifully done.

Price: $8.50 | Cap: 30

Peachtree Polish | Green Mile

Inspiration:  the book cover art of The Green Mile.

Description: Green Mile is a kelly green jelly polish loaded with micro gold flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Price: $11.50 | Cap: 50

Ribbits Stickits | Acetone Additive

Inspiration: The Shining

Description: The Overlook Frogetaboutit Acetone Additive is a deliciously complex scent.

Scent Description: apple and maple bourbon, maple, sugar, Chau, toasted pistachios, a touch frosted juniper Full scent note list: bourbon, citrus, maple sugar, butter, apple, cinnamon, vanilla, chaie tea, cardamom, nutmeg, caramel, butterscotch, toasted pistachios, ozone, pine, red currant, berries, pear, juniper, sage, cherry blossom

To my nose I mainly pick up caramel granny smith apple, but with a spicy kick. Each time I smell it I pick up another note I didn’t before and it is always changing – but I always smell caramel apple.

Frogetaboutit Acetone Additive is a mixture of glycerine and oil and fragrance that you add to your acetone to help prevent drying and that white ashen skin look.

Most do add these to pure acetone, but i personally like using it in Zoya Remove +. Remove+ does already have it’s own built in additive in a sense, but I like the additional boost.

This is a 30ml bottles, so you could shake this bad boy up and potentially get up to 4 uses out of it, depending on how much you pour per bottle. Just make sure you shake it first to mix the oils and glycerine up.

Price: $8.00 | Cap:40

Ribbits Stickits | Water Slide Decals

Inspiration: The Shining

Description: The Shining inspired waterslide nail decals! These are like temporary tattoos but you put em on your nails. Cut out the design you want, place in warm water for about 10-15 seconds, lift and then slide the image off and place on the nail. Pat dry and remove air bubbles – then top coat to seal it in.

These are water slide decal sheets both with images from Kubrick’s version of Stephan King’s The Shining. Sheet one has smaller individual images on clear backing. Sheet two has larger full nail (for some nails) decals on white backing. Each set will be bagged and have instructions and tips and tricks included.

Price: $10.00 | Cap: 50

Rogue Lacquer | Cockadoodie

Inspiration: Annie Wilks from Misery and her colorful way of cursing

Description: Cockadoodie is a deep midnight blue linear holographic with micro holo flakes and scattered holo flakes, as well as metallic red and blue flakes. I used 3 thin coats and a glossy top coat for these photos.

Price: $13.00 | Cap: None

The Soapy Chef | Resin Coasters

Inspiration: Delores Claiborne

Description: This is a set of 2 resin coasters inspired by the solar eclipse that is an underlying theme all through Delores Claiborne. These coasters are chock full of glitter and sparkles and will definitely give you all of the solar eclipse vibes!

I have several resin trinket trays and coasters from The Soapy Chef, and these are by far my favorite. They are sparkly and I’ve been using them since the moment they arrived. I am considering buying an additional set – but I honestly hate doing that when there is a cap on the products. I might do it anyway – so grab it if you want it before I get my second set.

Price: $15.00 | Cap: 50 sets

The Soapy Chef | Whipped Body Butter

Inspiration: Delores Claiborne

Description: The Soapy Chef Whipped Body Butter is inspired by Delores Claiborne, and the official name is: Sometimes Being a B*%$#  Is All a Woman Has to Hang on to. The name of the product comes from a truly iconic conversation in the movie and shows Delores’s love/hate relationship with her employer. The whipped body butter was inspired as a remedy for all of the chapped hands in Maine in the story – it is a silky cream and leaves the skin moisturized without a greasy feeling. Perfect for winter skin or all year round. The scent is fresh and clean, with mint sprigs, sage, and crisp bergamot.

I really love the fresh, clean and herbal like scent of this body butter

Price: $11.00 | Cap: 75

I love your swatches! I feel the same about horror but I’m the opposite. I like suspense but can’t handle much gore. And every time I read a King novel, I forget how many people die in them. Lol!
